The home was very spacious and accommodated our family of 4 great! As others have mentioned, much of the furniture and decor is outdated, but did the job. We enjoyed the waterfront, hot tub and blackstone grill. While on Drummond Island, we rented a pontoon to explore the area and islands looking for Pudding Stones. We also enjoyed the ATV trail to Marblehead.
Immaculate property. Very quiet location and it felt extremely private. The smell of the pine trees, the beautiful view of the St. Mary River (the passing ships were close too) and the sunsets were amazing!
The owner just added a hot tub and it was so relaxing to be in it watching the colors in the evening sky and then the lights across the river from DeTour.
We stayed as a couple but could envision bringing the family here as there is a lot of room for larger groups.
We really appreciated the kayaks. We kayaked from the property to the ferry dock and back as well as taking them to Big Shoal Cove. There are many places to put in on the island.
There is so much to do on the island and getting to them from the cabin is really easy. It's also not too far from town for places to eat and shopping.
We arrived very late in the evening and it was so welcoming to pull into the driveway with the lighted landscaping.
The staff at Drummond Island Hotel and Vacation Homes was responsive and helpful.
We stayed here at the beginning of Aug and we loved it! It was very quiet, peaceful and private which is exactly what we were looking for. The home is amazing, everything was clean and stocked well. One suggestion I would make would be to have more plastic dishes instead of glass. It could also use a couple throw blankets too, we travel with blankets so it wasn't a problem for us. The beds were comfortable. There were chairs to sit outside with, a nice fire pit area and 2 Kayaks, unfortunately we were unable to use them due to the weather and wind. Yes the place could use new linens like updated bedspreads but over all it was a perfect spot to stay.
We enjoyed watching the big ships passing by especially at night with all their lights on!
Check in was easy, we knew we would be arriving later in the evening so we called the office and they left the keys right at the home for us so we didn't have to stop and get them.
I would recommend this place to anyone that is looking for a quiet getaway! There was also plenty of yard space for younger children!

Beautiful view on a quiet island
We enjoyed our stay at Pebble Beach. This home has a beautiful view, a nice path down to the water, and lots of boats and freighters to watch go by. We enjoyed the bald eagles, the squirrels and even saw a bear not too far from the cabin. The layout of the cabin was great- plenty of room for our three generation family to spread out. The cabin does need updates. The linens are worn out, the dishes are sparse and many had been put away dirty, knives are dull, toaster needs replaced etc. The house feels damp, the fans did help get air moving. I would definitely recommend bringing bottled water for drinking and making coffee- the water has a strong sulfur smell. Also, if you arrive late on Saturday or on Sunday- most of the island is shut down and you will struggle to find firewood or groceries. The restaurants on the island are great and lots of fun souvenir shops. Would also recommend putting a key lockbox on the house or programmable lock. It was kind of a pain to have to go to the hotel to pick up the keys- an extra 25 minutes of driving after a long journey already. If you are ok with rustic, are laid back and flexible, this is a great place to stay- just needs some TLC.
Nice getaway in a somewhat rustic cabin. Master bedroom has a beautiful western view. We brought our boat and launched from several spots. Nateâs Marina was our favorite. We explored some islands and picnicked. Mornings weâd use the rental propertyâs kayaks. Great trip!
Our1st trip to DI, so this covers some general info as well.
Ferry ride is simple- 3 min to get from De Tour to DI. Drive a bit past the house to check in at hotel. Wish there was a different way to check in (keypad?); no biggie.
The house is DELIGHTFULLY located next to the water, with a small incline from the water to the house. It VERY comfortably slept 7 of us. It's in a woodsy location; lots of trees all around. Neighbors on either side, but it was quiet & felt super private.
The sunsets are INCREDIBLE and were a highlight of the trip. Being right next to the water, watching freighters go by (binoculars provided- so nice!), and just being in such a natural & untouched area is super relaxing.
Large deck has a wooden picnic table, glass table & chairs. We shut the gates on the deck to contain the dogs while letting them enjoy being outside; bonus!
Kitchen is small, but complete. The oven/stove is tiny, so cooking for a larger group wasn't super easy, but we made it work.
Living room is comfortable with plenty of seating options. We enjoyed sitting together at night playing cards and games. If TV is important to you, bring your own (LOL), because the TV is the size of a computer monitor! There is a decent small collection of VHS movies.
The master suite has a GORGEOUS view of the water. The room is spacious with two sitting chairs. There are two steps down into the room, in case accessibility is a concern. The king bed IS a king mattress, NOT two twins, so previous concerns/reviews have been addressed. The master bath has a standup shower, and vanity with plenty of storage.
The two bedrooms on the other side of the house both have full sized beds. Rooms are small but adequate. These rooms share a full tub/shower.
Loft has two twin beds & skylights. Perfect for kids! The stairs are steep. There is a baby gate in the laundry room. There is also a floor fan upstairs.
Heating is baseboard; each area has its own thermostat.
Things to bring:
-extra toilet paper (they only give you a limited amount)
-CDs (no streaming music because no wifi)
-camping chairs to take down to the water
-Lint roller if you have pets- they don't want them on the furniture (extra cleaning fee!)
-a big coffee mug (the mugs are tiny LOL)
Must see:
FOSSIL LEDGES- 1000% worth the crazy drive (just keep going LOL)
Suggestions:
-repair ripped screen on sliding door to deck; glass door must stay shut currently (bugs)
Overall this is a WONDERFUL rental!!
We were so excited when we pulled up and saw the stone walk, the wooden deck and the view from the deck and even the living room. The dogs loved going down to the lake. Nice-sized rocky beach. The interior was very fitting- knotty pine, large windows. The sliding screen leading to the deck needs repair, is taped but some bugs were getting in.. No closets in bedrooms and no dresser in master bedroom as pointed out in previous review...but everything we really needed. We loved the beach and giftshops!
Cool little place, awesome view of the river and freighters. sunsets are breath taking. Has large wrap-around deck, fire pit, nice path down to the shore. home needs a little love, but I'd stay here again and recommend you do as well.
Property was nice, don't think you should say the main bedroom has a king bed when it is two mattresses put together. Toilet near the large bedroom didn't seem to be fastened down tight. Communication with the property manager got a 4 because they never answered my question about if we could check out at 11am instead of 9am. Checkout should not be 9am. That is too early in my opinion.
Beautiful view of St Maryâs river and many freighters. Very nice and comfortable home
Loved our getaway to Drummond Island and Pebble Beach. Well kept up. Nice kitchen with everything we needed. All rooms clean and free from any any âoutdoor intrudersâ. Just one recommendation- please plan for emergency power outage. Very rare but good to have flashlights đŠ available. Due to very high winds we lost power for 24 hours. Enjoy the sights and sounds of Drummond Island.
Property not maintained, beautiful view and setting.
Beautiful views of the river and gorgeous sunsets nightly. Abundant wildlife. Cabin and property not well maintained. Furniture dated, worn down and stained. Cabin was very clean. Lacked a lot of the necessities.
The location was great. No bugs! Gorgeous stones. The property was laid out nicely. The dining room table was a bummer...outdoor glass and not nearly big enough. Also the dishes were sparce and all the pans scraped up. Bring your own non stick pans. We didn't fill the place up and still had to bring plastic chairs from outside to sit on. Not really a big deal if you eat it but we are acid cookers. The management place also doesn't leave a key so you have to drive in then drive back which was a bummer after 10 hours in the car. They were very friendly and helpful though so again no big deal. It was clean. No wifi which was stange this day in age but we lived. The stairway into the king bedroom... watch out!I almost bit it on those steps. A few drinks and you might forget. The beach was great. Find a bunch of cool stones. Watched the ferries. Great place to watch the sunset. The kids loved the loft. Again great layout. You could really pack in a ton of people. If they updated the dining room furniture, dishes...mainly cups, and chairs they'd have 5 stars.
We absolutely loved staying at Pebble Beach and will definitely be back! My family has been all over the UP and this was our first time visiting Drummond Island and it was beautiful. One of the best parts about it was that we had a place to stay that was comfortable and had the most perfect view of the sunsets, freighters and loons! Walking down the little path to the water was great also. Thank you for a beautiful and cozy experience!
