We had a wonderful stay! The home was clean, well-kept, and offered a stunning view of the bay. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking, and we really appreciated the addition of the grill. The dock was perfect for relaxing afternoons in the sun, and we loved ending our days with bonfires by the water. The beds were very comfortable, and the house had plenty of space for our large family. The property caretakers were incredibly helpful and made the experience even better. A special highlight was getting to see the northern lights-an unforgettable stay!
We were looking for a quiet week of rest and reconnection and we sure found it on Drummond island! There are lots of outdoor adventures and activities, but we were most content sitting outside and enjoying the water. The Wi-Fi was strong so we were able to get some work done, but Iâm already missing the peace and tranquility of this home.
We had a lovely stay at Stonehaven. Our host, Kari, was very helpful. The cottage was beautiful and clean. It has an amazing view! Would definitely recommend and consider staying there again.
Second visit to the home. Very very comfortable and well provisioned. Bed in the downstairs bedroom is too firm. Suggest a pillow top of some sort. Thank you Amy. We hope to return next October/ 2025. Jay and Karen.
Really enjoyed the location and amenities. Weather was cool and very windy. The views were fantastic! Cell service was non existent outside of using the wifi. Very relaxing!
We came to Drummond Island for a Labor Day getaway with our dog. We loved the property and the area. The house was clean and had everything we needed! Highly recommend! We would stay here again!
Thatâs what we found at Stonehaven! The house was beautiful, nature was constantly entertaining, and the only downside was needing to leave. We also greatly appreciated the accommodations when my father was ill - your understanding made a difficult time easier to manage. Thank you!
We visit the UP often for family vacations. This was the finest property thus far. Clean, roomy, comfortable, quiet and convenient location, and beautifully decorated with lots of extras. We took a day trip pontooning, another to Mackinaw City, another to the Big Shoal beach with hike on the Heritage trail and yet another to the Fossil Ledges. All that and we still had plenty of time for rest relaxation and fun on the water. Thank you for sharing your space for our wonderful vacation.
House was absolutely beautiful, lake views outstanding, location very convenient to everything. Host was very nice and accommodating, could not ask for anything more.
Huge windows in very comfortable home Big views of the lake from inside the home or out on the amazing wooden rocking loveseat where we enjoyed hours each evening. Northern Lights left us in awe. We needed nothing as we had everything provided.
location was great and easy to get to although there was no house number and wasnt sure if we had the correct place. walked in and had to find the owners name.
This is a well built, nice place with a great layout and amazing views of the northern sky and shore. Great views all day but especially at sunrise and sunset.
It was a relief to find a place that doesnât allow pets!
The home was beautiful and we loved it. It was especially wonderful to find a place that doesnât allow pets because I have allergies and it is really hard to find places that donât anymore.
A fourth generation Islander, Amy always dreamed of owning waterfront property on Drummond Island. After graduating from college, she traveled to Japan and taught at a Department of Defense School on a military base. She returned that summer with the down payment for her dream. One year later, her boyfriend proposed to her on the rocks by the shore, the following summer they married on Drummond Island. Then, the took the plunge and started building what they affectionately referred to as their "summer retirement home." Three years later, construction was finished in preparation for their first child. Since then, returning to Stonehaven for part of the summer has become an annual pilgrimage, complete with boating, berry picking, hiking, baking, family gatherings, board games, kayaking, bingo nights and campfires.
Every time I pull up to the house and see the lake and islands off in the distance, I breathe a huge sigh. No matter the weather, the view is amazing and makes me pause and appreciate life.
On a practical note, I like being half-way between the ferry and the four corners (town). You can escape, yet have the relative convenience of getting either to town or heading off the Island.
The home is filled with many warm memories from our years in Japan and our summers on the Island. Enjoy the one-of-a-kind Japanese wood pieces and decorations that became part of the home design.
