Large accommodation clean well located to old city of Lecce easy walking distance car parking in front of accommodation with permit proivided. Would recommend
The apartment is well laid out and is very comfortable. Parking is right outside the apartment door (with a pass from Giulio) Lecce is a baroque city and a great location for day trips around the Salento. We had a fabulous time. Giulio was terrific. We loved the apartment and we loved the location. Two blocks (5 minutes) from the old city so close enough to walk and explore the old city at any time but far enough away to be quiet and restful at night. We highly recommend the apartment.
This is a lovely apartment in an extremely quiet cul-de-sac, providing two of us with very spacious bedrooms and a living area with beautiful vaulted ceilings.
One thing worth pointing out (and my reason for 4 stars, not 5) is that the description of the bathrooms is misleading, suggesting that there's a separate shower room from the main bathroom. Not the case: there's one bathroom upstairs with a shower over a very narrow bath (NB if you have hip problems it's hard to get out of! A grab handle on the wall might be a helpful addition...). Then there's a downstairs loo with basin, washing machine and bidet - but no bath or shower. If you were a 6-some this might not be adequate - but as we were only two, it suited us fine.
Giulio was a very friendly host and happy to arrange a taxi to and from Brindisi Airport at a very reasonable price: a real bonus. The kitchen had everything we needed, including some basics on our arrival in the cupboard and fridge. But anyway, supermarkets are a few minutes' walk away, and there are lots and lots of good places to eat within reasonable walking distance (we didn't hire a car).
It's a 10-minute walk to the station, or to the Centro Storico which is the best part of Lecce for things to see and places to eat. Lecce is a lovely town; very laid back - but also very empty! We spent a week there in November (with a couple of days on excursions to Alborobello and to Gallipoli) and it was only on the Sunday night that the main square and thoroughfare became thronged with people and their dogs and baby buggies. Otherwise, we had streets, museums and art exhibitions pretty much to ourselves for a lot of the time! In any case, everything shuts between about 12.00 and 4.00, including churches. But if you're happy just to walk around the winding streets, admiring the exterior architecture and stopping for a leisurely coffee or gelato, you'll have a lovely time - we certainly did!
This is a great property: beautiful large interior and very clean. Well located (Lecce is amazing) Giulio was kind and helpful: Weâd give it a 5 but for a few small issues 1. Too much perfume: the place is heavily scented- too much for our sensitive sensibilities. 2. The listing on VRBO said checkout was 11am - but the owner informed us at 9:55 that it was a mistake and actually 10am - he gave us a bit of âextra timeâ to 10:30 so we had a bit of a scramble getting out - Overall very good
The property was everything expected from the description, even larger than expected. Giulio was very welcoming and everything we needed was there.
Located within 10 minutes walk of Lecce old town with it's numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Half an hour's drive from Gallipoli on the West coast and Otranto to the East, both beautiful old walled towns.
We thoroughly recommend this property and will return
Guilio was a gracious host -- he provided fruit, yogurt, pasta and sauce to kickstart our 4-day stay in May. The apartment was very clean, spacious and well equipped. It was also extremely convenient for our rental car with parking right outside the door (using the parking pass the owner provides). We were able to take day trips to Otranto, Santa Maria di Leuca and Gallipoli with approx. 60-90 minutes to each. Getting to the highways is pretty easy from this location and you don't have to battle a lot of traffic. And, the location is a 10-minute walk from the historic center. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it as a base for your Puglia vacation.
Spacious townhouse in quiet cul de sac short walk to Porta San Biagio to enter old town of Lecce
Conveniently close to train station for those travelling by train and easy to get to and park if driving. Shopping, restaurants, bars and coffee shops close by. Great base for exploring beautiful, baroque Lecce. Also easy to explore Otranto, Gallipoli, and the spectacular coastline by car or organized day trips.
The townhouse has a lovely, airy spaciousness with character features. There are two large bedrooms ,one with a large balcony, and a bathroom on the second floor. The main floor has a very large kitchen, dining, seating area with a walkout to a private courtyard. There is another bathroom on the main floor with laundry machine. Guilio generously provided an abundance of fruit and a bottle of local wine and bread. Molto gentile. The location was safe and very quiet. Great for sleeping.
Location, location, this townhouse definitely has everything you need to enjoy your visit to Lecce, the Florence of the south.
Mille grazie, Guilio.
