À propos de la location

La Terrasse est une ancienne grange / stable, entièrement rénové, dans la belle provençale sommet de la colline Saint-village Martin de Castillon. Il offre une vue magnifique sur la colline du Luberon depuis chaque chambre. Le village est entouré de champs de lavande et de vigne. Vous trouverez également dans le village d'un bistro, un magasin du coin (chaque jour Croissantes frais et des baguettes), un parc et une piscine publique.

La maison est d'environ 90 m2 sur quatre étages.

Au rez de chaussée se trouve la cuisine, avec four, cuisinière, lave-vaisselle, micro-ondes, bouilloire, machine à café et une petite salle de toilette avec laveuse et sécheuse. Le salon avec un grand canapé en cuir est au deuxième étage. Le troisième étage offre la chambre avec un lit double et une armoire, de hauts plafonds avec poutres apparentes et la salle de bains avec douche et WC.

Le loft dispose d'un canapé-lit.

Pretty in Provence

We recently spent a week at La Terrasse in the village of St. Martin de Castillon. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and we were more than happy with the accommodation and the village itself, which is off the beaten tourist track but still has all the conveniences including a bistro, local store and public swimming pool. The views from the village are breathtaking and the proximity to other villages and hiking trails is an added bonus. The house is charming with all modern amenities and is a great bargain. We highly recommend it!

A week in Provence.

My daughter and I rented the house for our vacation in Provence and it was an extremely positive experience from start to finish. The owner communicated very clearly throughout the rental process and we were greeted at the house as promised upon arrival. The house is very clean and in good condition. Rooms are spread over four floors providing lots of space. We were very comfortable during our stay as the bed, sofas, kitchen, etc are all in good condition. The location of this property is in a quaint village with a welcoming Bistro and a market with fresh croissants and baguettes. From here you can discover one of the most beautiful parts of Southern France. I would rent this property again on a return trip.

disappointing (read below)

First thing: We were very disappointed there was no swimmingpool, but only a tiny public swimming pool which you must pay for. As we selected "Swimmingpool" as the only filter on the website www.fewo-direkt.de and La Terrasse appeared, we expected there to be one. The "terrasse" is very small (only a tiny table and two chairs can be placed there, not even a sunbed), next to the street and in the shade after 11am in July (as it shows to the north).

Second thing: For one week, we had road works being done right in front of the house - during five days we woke up at 7 or 8am because of the incredibly loud jack-hammer. The works went on all day so we couldn't stay at the house.

Despite all this the lessor decided not to give us one cent of a reduction on the rent. That is a darned cheek, if you will pardon my saying so.

Above all he didn't give us the adress of the house beforehand but let us wait about one hour in "the bistro" the day of our arrival. During that time he didn't answer our text message nor his phone - so we were not quite sure if he was about to come and give us the keys... In the end his wife showed up.

If there is no road work and you are comfortable with a shower that leaks and has poor plumbing, a gas stove that runs out of gas while you're cooking and you only need a place to sleep: La Terrasse is perfect for you.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a place to enjoy a relaxing summer holiday in Provence, including sunbathing and a lessor that is hospitable and obliging, you may want to choose another accomodation. There are plenty on fewo-direkt.de that are cheaper and located in equally beautiful villages.

Réponse du propriétaire: We are very sorry that the stay of these guests at our village house at St. Martin de Castillon was a disappointment. The high expectations (a private pool and big terrace) are belied by the description and photos on VRBO. This property whose classification, at a low price for this region, puts it in a budget category. Despite remaining in the house during their scheduled stay, the demand of a refund and threatening a law suit seemed unreasonable. We hoped to address this issue at check out but alas the early departure prior to check out time prevented us from discussing a solution. Please note that La Terrasse does not offer a private pool in any promotional materials but mentions the public pool available in our village. It also shows the size of the terrace very clearly in the photos and there is also no mention of a sunbed. And of course we will have a professional plumber check any issues in the shower. We are very interested in feedback, positive and negative, and take customer service very seriously. As you can see on the other reviews of La Terrasse and our other holiday rental La Petite Maison (VRBO# 353636), it is very important to us that our renters have a relaxing and pleasant stay. Even so, it was bad luck that our village roadworks department chose the holiday of those guests to engage in a road repair during their specific stay. I apologize for this unforeseen disturbance. There is a large board up the road from us, stating that roadworks were to be done between March and October 2014. Normally these roadworks are never done in this region during the peak tourist months of July and August. Concerning the gas bottle, we certainly cover those costs. It is just a matter of letting us know and we will be happy to change the empty one with a full bottle.

Nice!

After a hectic and stressful travel to France, it was so nice to spend a very relaxing week at La Terrasse. The location is perfect, if you prefer 2 min walking distance to a corner store with every day fresh baguettes and croissantes and have a good café crème at the bistro. The village of St. Martin de Castillon hasn't really been discovered by mass tourism, which gives it an authentic and real Provence flair. Thank you for letting us stay at your charming house!!!!

Unexpected place

We have had beautiful 2 weeks at this house and will always remember it. The house has everything we needed and the location is fantastic. Kim & Christian are the perfect hosts and were very helpful. We cannot wait to come back again.
