It was a perfect setting for us! Many, many deer!! Wonderful hosts! We go to Colorado often to visit family and we will
Definitely go back and stay here again!
Thank you Lori and Tim!!
We had a large group for a funeral and we had enough space for everyone. One note, the twin beds are bunk beds that are suspended. Beautiful property and adorable horses too.
We stayed 3 nights for a family wedding weekend. Great location, centrally located to lots of great options from Telluride to Mesa Verde and all the small towns in the area. Apartment had everything we needed (even coffee and filters that a prior guest mentioned they had to go buy some). Lori and Tim are gracious hosts, willing to provide assistance but not intrusive at all.
The space was bigger than we had anticipated and the owners onsite were very friendly but also gave us our space.
We had a wonderful stay and will look to book here again when we are in Cortez.
Great location not far from the Mesa Verde National Park. There was some trouble with the water heater not working, but we managed to fix it temporarily ourselves. There was no coffee or sugar for the coffee maker, but Walmart is not far away.
This home was exactly what we needed and what was advertised - two bedrooms (one with a bunk bed), a pull out couch, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a living space. I don't have any major complaints. There was plenty of toilet paper and bath towels, the shower water was warm and had good pressure, everything was clean, and I'm impressed there tissues in every room! The property was beautiful and was a decent distance from Mesa Verde, Canyonlands of the Ancients, a mountain bike trail, and a couple of small towns. It was easy communicating with the owners too.
We had a great stay Lori met us when we checked in. Location is in Dolores but close to Cortez. About 15 minute's from Mesa Verde NP. Each room has a separate air/heater unit. Deer come in the yard in the evening. Had great conversations with Lori, Would stay here again.
We love staying at this home near Cortez when we regularly visit family living in the area. The home is perfect for our needs and allows us to bring our dogs, which is an extra bonus. It is conveniently located to Cortez, but still in the country with beautiful scenery and wildlife. Lori and Tim are excellent hosts and we appreciate their friendliness.
I loved the layout of the rental. The main rooms had large windows with beautiful views. The host was welcoming and helpful. The location was not too far from Mesa Verde. We did see some pet hair and cobwebs around the rental.
This home is on the crest of a ridge with a fantastic view of the Cortez valley and mountains in the distance. Deer meander through the yard pruning the trees and shrubs. The house is clean and comfortable. Lori is a generous host.
Lori and I met in Grand Canyon where we were both river guides. After a 13 year residence in Uber-rural Torrey, Utah (pop 250) we moved to the metropolis of Dolores/Cortez and bought a 26 acre hayfield. We put in a septic system and bought a 20 year old, 30 foot travel trailer where we lived while I built the 'shop.'
The 'Apartment' as we call it, is one wing of the shop building. We and the two kids lived in it for seven years while I scratched together the capital to build the 'dream home' out of pocket. We've been in the house for 12 years now and the kids are gone. In a lot of ways it would make more sense for us to move back into the Apartment and rent out the house. It's got everything you need.
Sorry, Montana, these are the best sunsets on earth. 192 degrees of sky. See into three states. The San Juan Mountains are America's Alps and less than a hour to the northeast. You can be at the base of the trail up Mt Wilson, the 14,000 footer featured on the Coors beer can in about the same time as it would take to get to Canyonlands National Park heading the other way. Single-track biking through the pines or the desert, 15 minutes either way. The Dolores River has some fun whitewater a few months of the year and the nearby San Miguel has some genuinely challenging sections. Flyfishing on any number of streams. Lake fishing at the second biggest body of water in Colorado. Canyons of the Ancients National Monument. You can see our placed from the first overlook when you're on top of the Mesa Verde scarp where the big mama cliff dwellings are. In fact, it's probably the coolest place in the world....
