The grandkids had such a great time exploring and skipping rocks along the shore line! The sunsets couldnât have been more beautiful. The cabin was spacious, well equipped with essentials and nicely decorated to give it that âup northâ feel. Rick was very helpful, suggesting restaurants and areas of interest that the grandkids would likely enjoy.
My wife and I ended our 50th wedding anniversary Michigan trip, here on the lake. The cabin, right on the water's edge, is amazing and the view of the western sky made for some breathtaking sunsets. Even during a nighttime, rainy thunderstorm, mother nature provided a super lightening show on the horizon. Rick was very responsive and a great host.
Cabin was great for our family...loved the 2 bathrooms, the dock to relax by the water, and the screened in porch. The location was perfect...close to Four Corners and the ferry.
A perfect getaway from the bustle of busy city life. Gorgeous sunsets/moonrises and quiet peaceful lounging by the lake. Setting out early in the morning for deer viewing was a favorite activity.
The home and location were absolutely fabulous! Everything was perfect and as described. Rick was great to work with and super accommodating. Couldn't have asked for a better host. We will definitely be back. Beautiful and peaceful location. Beautiful and well equipped home. We were not lacking anything that we needed.
We love coming to DI! This is our second year staying at this house and plan to stay again next year. Itâs a gorgeous house, great location, and Rick is a wonderful host.
This is an amazing cabin. Beautifully decorated, everything and anything you needed was there. The views are breathtaking. Drummond Island is well worth the trip, so laid back and just island life. Rick made sure everything was perfect for us. Thank you so much. We will definitely be back.
Loved our visit. Had a small issue with a miscommunication with the cleaning staff, but it was quickly resolved. Wonderful communication with the owner. We will be back!
The cabin was SO NICE!! It was fit with everything you need, comfortable beds, plenty of room, and the view is amazing. It's quiet, wooded, but yet close enough to town. I don't think theres anything i would have changed.... I would definitely rent here again!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. The cabin was in a great location, views were amazing, and Rick was the ultimate host. Any questions we had were answered in a prompt, friendly and welcoming way. From the moment you walk in the door it just feels like âhomeâ. Everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing vacation you will find at this property. The island is a real âmust seeâ. Locals are so friendly and welcoming and there are several great spots for dinner. We spent many hours relaxing on the deck at waters edge just steps from the front door. You wonât be disappointed booking this beautiful property - just leave a week or two available for us because we will be returning next year. Thanks so much for the Drummond memories and sharing your slice of Paradise with us.
This was our first stop in a week long UP girls trip. The cabin was exactly what we needed to enjoy each others' company, play games, kayak and relax! We were able to be outside a bit until the bugs took over, but the sunset from inside was absolutely beautiful! Rick was beyond gracious as far as check in and out times went. We definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our week's stay on Sturgeon Bay. The kitchen was weel stocked with all the basics. We also used the gas grill and firepit often. Sunsets, listening to the loons, and watching the Osprey dive for their next meals were highlights. Oh, and so was getting up at 2:30 in the morning one day to catch my first glimpse of the Northern Lights!
We spent a long weekend at this home. The view is stunning! The home is clean and well maintained. We had 6 adults and 3 dogs and there was plenty of room with each couple having their own bedroom. We took side by sides and spent a full day exploring. We enjoyed the local restaurants (we never had a bad meal or poor service). We saw plenty of wildlife including a mink and a fox. Communication with the owner was always prompt not to mention helpful and courteous. We were there in late March and it was so quiet and peaceful. We felt almost as if we had the whole island to ourselves. Would love to return some time in the future.
We only stayed one night as the bed in the master bedroom was totally uncomfortable. There was also the smell of urine around the toilet in the master bathroom and the kitchen table was sticky. Our friend stayed out the week but we couldnât survive on that bed.
The view off the deck was so relaxing and beautiful sunsets. The stone pathway into the water was very helpful. Iâm always up early so listening to the loons, watching the deer playing near the water or hearing the roosters at sunrise. It so peaceful, quiet and zen! If you have Verizon except Canada/International charges not good coverage at all on the island. Att seems to be what locals use. I bring this up because the cabin has good WiFi but you leave itâs spotty. When you turn off main road towards cabin follow to end Turn Left not right, then first right . Google lady had us all over the place. We loved the cabin was big enough for 7 adults. I did bring to air mattress because I wasnât sure of loft futon/couch. Itâs a couch! We moved things around put air mattress up there. If anyone has mobility issues bring bath mat for shower and thereâs a high front step. There was plenty of cookware and dishes. The view from the living room and screen porch were great. Plenty of seating outside. The gas fire ring on the deck and the fire pit amongst the rocks made for great sâmore. The house was basically clean but needs a âspring â clean on elk antlers and things that donât get dusted every week. Rick responded quickly to all my questions. We would definitely return to your cabin.
I built Island Retreat in 2000 with the help of a very accomplished local contractor. I enjoy being there whenever possible. I live with my daughters in Traverse City, Mi., about three hours from Drummond. I am an Ann Arbor native, a big sports fan and nature lover.
