Welcome to Hiker’s Haven, a cozy retreat nestled on the serene north shore of Lake Sutherland. Tucked into the heart of the Olympic Mountains, this recently renovated cabin blends rustic charm with modern comfort—offering breathtaking lake views, thoughtful amenities, and effortless access to some of the Pacific Northwest’s most awe-inspiring outdoor adventures.



Whether you're chasing waterfalls in the Elwha Valley, wandering through the ancient Hoh Rain Forest, soaking in the mineral-rich Sol Duc Hot Springs, or simply unwinding on the water, Hiker’s Haven is the perfect place to begin and end your days.



The Space:

The Space:

This classic lake cabin has been lovingly updated with a bright, open-concept living area, a refreshed bathroom, and a fully equipped modern kitchen.

Upstairs, a spacious loft bedroom with a queen bed offers panoramic lake views through picture windows—a dreamy setting for morning coffee or stargazing at night. A smart TV and DVD player are available for quiet evenings indoors.

Downstairs, a double-size sleeper sofa with privacy curtains offers additional sleeping space. The kitchen features an electric stovetop, toaster oven, microwave, drip coffee maker, and tea kettle. All dishes, utensils, and basic cookware are provided. (Please note: there is no full-size oven.)

Dine with a view at the lake-facing table, or unwind on the loveseat with a good book. If you’re lucky, one of the resident eagles may make an appearance from the nearby evergreens.



Outdoor Features:

- Private dock with stunning lake access

- Three guest-use kayaks stored in the boathouse (life vests and paddles provided, required by law). Guests are welcome to enjoy them at their own risk.

-Renowned fishing spot right off the dock—Lake Sutherland is especially known for Kokanee salmon

-Clear but steep trails to the lake and dock—guests should be sure-footed and comfortable with uneven terrain



Important to Know:

- The trail between the parking area and the cabin includes inclines and uneven ground and may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations. We recommend this property for guests who are physically fit and able to navigate natural, unpaved terrain.

- Water is not safe for drinking—please bring your own bottled water

- Located 20 minutes west of Port Angeles (for grocery and dining options)

-On-site parking available

-All water activities and trail use are at your own risk

-Paddle boat is not operational—please do not attempt to use it

-Please use caution near deck railings—no climbing or leaning

If you are looking for a secluded, beautiful view of the lake, this is the place! BUT YOU MUST BE ABLE TO HIKE RUGGED NATURAL "STAIRS" UP AMD DOWN!

The driving direction clarification was really helpful, especially if you look at street view (which I did due to the host’s description). The views are absolutely stunning, and there is an “at your own risk” dock access down a steep path, which was an awesome surprise!

A Memorable Experience!

The view here is dreamy. It was hot the first day and we were grateful for the pool noodles and dock with ladder so we could jump into the sparkling blue water. We loved using the kayaks (3), and we saw eagles swoop down within a few yards of us, plus a merganser swam right by us with her 10 ducklings! We appreciated the many hooks inside to hang towels and the soaps, shampoo, conditioner, body wash provided, smell wonderful and are quality. The fans and space heaters helped keep the place comfortable as the temperatures did fluctuate while we were there.

Delightful cabin for a quiet and peaceful stay. We had everything we needed. Fantastic view of the lake as well as access to the dock was fantastic and kayaks. We loved it!

ONP Base Camp

We stayed in Hikers Haven for two nights and spent time exploring Sol Duc, Hurricane Ridge, and both the lakes. We enjoyed our time in the cabin with the beautiful view. We were happy to have a real coffee maker instead of pods, and the kitchen has all you need to make easy meals. Hikers Haven is a comfy place to unwind and explore the Olympic Peninsula.

Great location for a quiet Christmas. Definitely needs a little love and care - many lights did not work and the dvd player was broken. The stairs, as listed, are treacherous so make sure you’re able bodied enough but the view and the kitchen made up for everything else. The host responded quickly when I messaged.

We verified that the DVD player is on site and it is working properly; the original ticket had indicated it was missing. The only light issue was a flickering bathroom bulb, which has now been replaced. We appreciate your comments and will continue working to ensure the home is comfortable and fully functional for future guests.

- Amazing views, & a “Use at your own risk” path down to the dock on the lake! Also provided kayaks & swim towels for guest use. - Appreciate the traditional coffee pot, & the kitchen provided all needed wares. - Love the privacy curtain for the living room bed!! Helped cut down on the natural light coming in through the skylights & windows!! - Additional instructions to find the cabin were somewhat helpful after deciphering them when we arrived to the turnoff. - No a/c, but the provided fans were very helpful. - The single sign about the water situation was very small & only in the kitchen, not in the bathroom. The 2 gallons of water were provided as listed. - Loved having my coffee on the deck in the mornings. - I understand that every listing/booking is different, but it was frustrating having to look at two different apps (we booked through Vrbo but had to also use Vacasa) when trying to find information.
