Once Upon a Tide - Private Hood Canal Beach, 2 King Suites, Water Views

Welcome to Once Upon a Tide - a beachfront retreat on Hood Canal where the water is right outside the windows and the Olympic Mountains sit across the canal.

This is a true waterfront stay, not "near the water". Wake up to the canal from both king bedrooms. Watch seals, otters, eagles, and the occasional whale from the living room or the covered deck. Low tide turns the beach into a wildlife show. High tide brings the water to your doorstep.

The house: Two spacious water-view bedrooms, each with a king bed and its own private bath. Open living/kitchen/dining with big windows and a covered deck for morning coffee and evening sunsets. Year-round heat and air conditioning. Fully equipped kitchen, washer and dryer, on-site parking and a Blackstone bbq grill.

Who is it for: Couples, two couples traveling together, or a small family that wants privacy and quiet instead of a 10-person party house. Sleeps 4.

The location: Belfair/south Hood Canal. Minutes to Twanoh State Park, Union River Wildlife Area, Lakland Village Golf Course, Gold Mountain Golf Course, Trophy Lake Golf Course, Horseshoe Lake Golf Course, Hood Canal Marina and a short drive to Alderbrook. About 80 munutes from Seatac.

Good to know: Hood Canal is tidal. Bring water shoes for the beach. Shellfish harvest is possible when WDFW season and water- quality notices allow - guests are responsible for licenses and current openings. Our rate includes the fees shown at check-out. No hidden junk fees.

The space: The beach house is 1524 sq ft. One king master bath has a shower/tub combo, the second king master has a walk-in shower. The downstairs has an electric fireplace to add ambiance in the winter. High speed internet/wifi. Parking accomodates at least 4 full-sized vehicles. The home is no bank waterfront. A gas fire pit is located on the beach.

We want this to feel like a storybook vacation on the water. That is why we named it Once Upon a Tide.

Perfect house in such an amazing location - warm water for swimming, great big deck and lawn. We enjoyed swimming out to the dock and having dinner out on the deck. Alderbrook Resort, Twanoh State Park and Hook & Fork in Union are just down the road! Would highly recommend, only 90 minutes from Seattle.

We’ve had a few other bookings for other properties that didn’t quite live up to the posting in terms it opinion but as soon as we walk through the front door and saw this home and the view we instantly knew this home was perfect! ,We had a great week here and didn’t want to leave , even saw orcas on two different days ,we’ would love to book this home again in the near future

This cozy Beach House was very clean. So perfect for a great getaway from home. Beach Access was nice if you like paddle boarding, kayaking or just floating around. Felt like I was at home. We will definitely be back for a visit. This one you don't want to miss!

This house is a gem! The view is amazing. We literally sat for hours on the deck just taking in the beauty and feeling the peace. The owners definitely went above and beyond, leaving everything well-stocked and inviting. Kitchen has everything you need. House is comfortable and clean. Perfect spot for paddle boarding and golf is a short drive away. Great place to rest, relax, and recharge.

What a great place to stay on the Hood Canal! The views were incredible and the hosts had it set up to make you feel at home. They thought of everything. We had gorgeous weather for most of our stay but some rain, thunder and lightning, too. A great place for watching storms! Lots of great hiking trails down the road at Alderbrook and make sure you eat som Olympic Creameries ice cream during your stay - it was to die for! A five-star place for sure!

Gorgeous set up right on the warmest water on the Canal. The house is one of the best appointed vacation homes we've ever rented. The owners are basically renting out their well loved "favorite place" and it shows by the high quality and detail of everything.Comfortable king sized bed(s) that overlook the water with the sound of lapping tides to lull you to some of the best sleep you've had in a while.3 new baths, and beautiful comfortable furniture throughout. The fully loaded kitchen is a chef 's dream and the covered outdoor seating/dining area is made to enjoy that beach that is literally just feet away. Quiet neighborhood to allow you to relax, unwind and unplug. TVs abound, but don't bother, with the changing tide, seal visits and the constantly changing sky, take time to enjoy what's right in front of you. And yes you can actually swim here, especially high tide. Bring your water shoes, sunscreen, sun shirt, hat, that book you never have time to read and groceries and enjoy it all.Thank you Terry and Sally this is a magical place and we loved every minute.

We just returned from a 3-day stay at this wonderful home. We've stayed at many VRBO homes and, surprisingly, they often don't have everything you need to make you feel at home. That's not the case here. Not only does the kitchen have everything you need (and more), every room seems to have been well thought out to help insure guests have what they need to experience a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Then there's the view! Whether you relax under the covered patio or on the comfortable furniture in the house, the view is incredible. We particularly spent a lot of our time on the two swival chairs positioned perfectly next to the window, giving us wonderful views while sipping lattes in the morning or a glass of wine while watching the sunset. The second floor bedooms each have great views too, and we enjoyed sleeping with the sliding glass doors open so that we could listen to the lapping waves and feel the cool fresh sea breeze before we fell asleep every night.All in all, we had a great time and have already booked a few more days with some friends for next month!

This home was perfect for our family of 4–kids ages 6 and 9. It was well appointed with so many thoughtful extras. The kitchen has everything you might need—even an air fryer for crisping up those yummy leftovers. The beds were comfy and there was tons of seating inside and out for relaxing. The views were spectacular and we loved combing the beach for oysters, crabs shells and sea glass. We saw lots of seals peaking their heads out of Hood Canal. You’re a short 30 drive to the Bremerton Ferry, which we took into Seattle to catch a Mariners game. We also drove a little over an hour to the Staircase Rapids Loop in the southern part of Olympic National Park. Highly recommend!
