The magic “mid-valley” :

This private family home is located at the mid-point between Ketchum & Hailey. Perfect for those who like to have a little more privacy, and a unique retreat with their friends and family. We love the seasons and spectacular shows viewed from the large windows and balcony.

Get outside and explore! Just a short walk towards the main highway, you can get on the Wood River Trail. A paved trail mostly along the Big Wood River connecting the neighboring cities. Open year round, it is great for walking, jogging, non-motorized biking, cross-country skiing, and sightseeing. You will come across old bridges and beautiful scenery. So, you may want to bring a camera.

A little history:

This is a family-owned home for the last 50+ years, which is now owned by the son of the original owners, and his wife. Sharing this home for others to experience while visiting the Idaho mountains is a joy. A focus was made on maximizing the remodeling plans and getting creative - because this old home deserves to stand out in a sea of condominiums and mansions. The overarching design theme plays off the “Swiss Chalet” architectural style, known in ski areas and mountain resorts for its practical snow-shedding roof and wide-eaves. The European Alpine inspiration of the Sun Valley resort built in the 1930’s, has put this location on the world map.

Après Ski Vibes:
• Downstairs
Step inside, the forest is not only outside here but also center stage. A serene and scenic living space with coffee/breakfast/après bar downstairs to unwind and have fun. Comfortable furnishings blended with mid-century modern driven design.

• The kitchenette offers independence and what European travelers refer to as self-catering. A single-serve Keurig coffee and hot water maker, touch-screen/dual-slice & bagel toaster, under-counter refrigerator that is cold enough for dairy & meats, Air-Popcorn maker & popcorn bowl, and cutting boards, knives, silverware, plates, bowls, coffee mugs, paper travel cups/lids/sleeves, drink tumblers, salt & pepper, and paper towels. Additionally, we get you started with an assortment of coffee pods, tea bags & instant hot chocolate packets, individual liquid creamers, and packets of sugar in the raw and stevia in the raw.

• The two bedrooms downstairs boast comfortable beds and linens. One bedroom (#3 in the listing photos) has a king size mattress with rustic bohemian vibes we call the “Hailey” bedroom. The second bedroom (#4 in the photos) has double queen-size bunk beds and a frame that is affixed to the wall for stability. The “Sun Valley” room has a wintery forest wall scene, snowboards, arcade table, and a vivid color palette make for extreme fun and positive vibes whether you are an adult or kid alike.

• Laundry Room:
LG Smart Tower – Full size washer and dryer with center touch-screen panel. Laundry pods, dryer sheets, stain spray, iron & ironing board, extra blankets, rags for clean up, and a cordless stick vacuum.

Upstairs:
Once upstairs, a wall installation worthy of a ski lodge, the quintessential exposed timber ceilings of a Swiss chalet that extend outside onto a front facing balcony with counter height beverage ledge for taking in the mountain and lower garden views that still feels private due to the tall pines curved at the edges of the property.

• A big dining table for meals, conversation, games, and puzzles. Enough seating for 8 guests, with 5 swivel chairs for social interaction and 3 banquette seats with a unique lederhosen-inspired backrest.

• European style family kitchen - well appointed for all your meals with basic seasonings, olive oil, cookware, bakeware, plates/silverware/glasses for a seating of 8 at the dining table, mostly stemless wine glasses, stoneware pottery assortment, fondue pots and dishes, crab & lobster utensils w/ butter warmers, grilling baskets & tools, pizza sheets & oven tools, Smore’s crock and marshmallow forks. • Upstairs Covered Balcony – as a key element to every Swiss chalet, this Après vibe will not disappoint, extended from the front, second floor with pitched roofline wood ceiling & beams for a span of 24-feet in length. Enclosed w/ cable rails, beverage ledge w/ slide protective lip, bright red comfortable contoured seating for 4, dimmable wall lighting & beautiful views. • The two bedrooms upstairs both have a king-size bed; however, the rooms have their own unique chalet vibes. The “Ketchum” bedroom (#1 in the listing photos) has an entrance off the main kitchen and an entrance from the upstairs bathroom. Exposed wood ceilings are a continuation from the upstairs living area. At the center is a statement of simplicity that holds the rooms attention; MCM design, multi-light chandelier on a dimmable wall switch. The vibe is calming with neutral tones and the quality materials that the quiet luxury style is known for.

At the top of the stairs, to the left is second bedroom which steps down from the hall. This was the old office built above the garage, a long room with windows to the east and west and sloped ceiling. This we call the “Hemingway” or the “plaid” room with classic red & black checked “buffalo plaid” comforter. Dual mattress adjustable bed, and an extra seating area with cognac brown chairs. Have some quiet time, read, or write a book (You may need to stay longer for that ;) ). The room has its own baseboard heaters, a 36” electric wall linear fireplace heater, a TV, and in the summer we have a window air conditioner if needed.

Tech, Streaming HDTV and Audio:

• Connect to the free Wi-Fi & enable Wi-Fi Calling on your cell phone in order to use cell phones for calls/texts/internet services as our cell signal is spotty.
• Fast 5G Internet connection
• Streaming HDTV – ROKU “Guest mode” allows you to sign in to your own streaming services, and you will be automatically signed out upon date of departure to keep your account information private.
• In bedrooms and throughout the house are outlets that include USB-A & C connections to plug in and charge your devices.
• Wi-Fi Booster (connect to the “EXT” Wi-Fi if the normal Wi-Fi shows fewer bars)
• Kitchen desk - Laptop ready Kitchen workstation with 27” HP Monitor. Padded swivel stool with height adjustment control can be tucked under the black marbled stone countertop with stone waterfall side. Electrical outlet on wall behind monitor and wall under countertop to connect to.
