Our farm reinvented itself: Carefully renovated it now welcomes guests for revitalizing holidays. Located on a sunny hilltop, the farmhouse blends into its surroundings. Smooth hills shape the landscape between the impressive Riegersburg fortress in the North and our neighbors in Slovenia. Most elevations are relics of long extincted volcanoes, more than 40 erupted millions of years ago in this area.

The farmhouse is surrounded by a 20.000 m² garden. A pool promises refreshing dips in summer. Solar-heating makes it possible to swim here from May to October at least. Underneath the trees hammocks swing in the breeze. The extensive orchard offers a lovely place for everyone.

Four apartments resembling each other are located inside the house. Depending on their size, they either offer one double room or a second bedroom with two twin beds. The fully equipped kitchen just waits to observe you turning local raw materials into delicious holiday dinners. The breakfast tastes best when enjoyed outdoors. On request we also prepare a regional breakfast in the former press.

As hosts we are deeply rooted inside the region. Since decades we support and cooperate in the regional development strategy of this area called Vulkanland Steiermark. We happily offer you recommendations to make the most out of your stay. The highest density of culinary manufactories in Central Europe makes it hard to choose: Zotter chocolate, Vulcano ham, Gölles snaps and vinegar, Berghofer mill, pumpkin seeds refining, wine routes. Here, the heart of every gourmet gets excited. A number of well-known decorated restaurants complements the culinary delights.

Several highlights may be reached on foot directly from the Sonnenhaus. More than 600 km of hiking paths meander through the region. They form a fire creature out in nature that awaits explorers. Hiking maps are available at the Sonnenhaus. We gladly help you choose the right trail for your excursion. To top it off, small wooden lanterns await you in the courtyard. They offer great company when going on an evening walk to the nearest Buschenschank, to enjoy a traditional cold meal.

Good to know:
WIFI is available in the common areas. Due to the thick walls reception is often spotty inside the apartments. During the colder months we provide you with bathing robes, in summer we forgo that in order to save energy. There are no air-conditioning units installed. The brick walls isolate very well. Together with airing the rooms during the cooler nights a comfortable indoor climate is possible even on hot summer days.
