Heron Hideaway is little paradise! The location was perfect and the place itself is beautiful. Relaxing and so well done. We loved being there. The hosts are so kind and always available. I can't imagine a better place to stay in Fernandina Beach. We highly recommend this and would definitely come back here on our next trip to Amelia Island!

Heron’s Hideaway is a tranquil beach escape that exudes charm. Steeped in history and natural beauty, Amelia Island, Florida is the southernmost jewel of the Sea Island chain of barrier islands off the southeastern coast of the United States. Pristine, uncrowded beaches envelop the island’s east side which is only a three-minute drive. I give 100% credit to my talented wife on how Heron’s Hideaway was decorated! With a king-size bed and elegant furnishings, Heron’s Hideaway is complemented by a spacious bathroom with a terrific, oversized shower! Down duvet, plush robes and slippers, Eco Botanics bath products and comfy sheets satisfy the senses on every level!

Excellently located on main road between public beaches and the Historic District, Herons Hideaway is pefect for a couples getaway. Extremely comfortable King bed, kick-butt AC, great shower. Converted garage beside beautiful home, privacy was good! Covered carport. Loved the decorative touches. Immediate access to ALL the streamers and great WiFi. Awesome pool, very private. Beautifully landscaped backyard, birdfeeders brought in lots of lovely visitors. No regrets for our stay. Hosts were responsive when needed.

This was one of the best vrbo rentals I have ever stayed in. It was clean, very well decorated, and well thought out. Our hosts were wonderful and available for questions. We were less than a mile from old town and all the Amelia/Fernadina hot spots. If we ever make it back we will seek this spot out as our number one choice.

What impressed me the most about this trip was the communications from the owner. I am 100% combat disabled and have a service animal... Peter was EXCELLENT about communicating with us and making sure we were well cared for, from start to finish. He was kind and caring and attended our needs. Everything was exactly the way it was described in the listing. The backyard was under construction, so we didn't get a chance to use the pool, but that was fine! Steps away from the center of town and all the lovely shops. Loved the trip.

Look no further for a wonderful stay in a very fun area of Florida! This property is so well maintained and Heron’s Hideaway is just as pictured- they thought of everything! Short walk to the Historic area of town with great food, live entertainment and shopping! Short drive to the beautiful beach! The hosts are wonderful and provided a lot of informative information about the area! Highly recommend the Ameilia River Cruise and visiting Clinch State park to see the fort and hunt for shark’s teeth on the beach! Palace Saloon and The Green Turtle for great live music. Salty Pelican also great food and cool vibe! T-Rays for breakfast was a hit with biscuits as big as the plate! Also Garden Bistro is a wonderful place for specialty dishes for breakfast! Will definitely stay here again and loved the outdoor area around the pool as it is so relaxing and beautiful!

What a terrific 😊 guest experience at Heron’s Hideaway! That 3 minute 🚗 drive to the beach 🏖️are always a joy for us too! Karen and I are frequent VRBO travelers ourselves. I can’t tell you how many times I had to do research on what is available nearby when we check in. By the time I figured it out we were leaving. So, we made a point to share “to do” info so guests can focus on options available. Appreciate that you uploaded pictures too! I told Karen we need to 🍽️ eat out more often LOL! Sadly, our stay at the King Bed/Pool apartment was short-lived. Upon entering, there was an overpowering perfumey smell. I immediately started looking for the "plug-ins" so they could be removed and I could air out the space. Unfortunately, no plug-ins or fragrance diffusers were found. After speaking with the host, their only thought was maybe something the cleaning person used/did. Even after opening the window and door, I couldn't stay because of the fragrance. This left the host in a bind, as well as my husband and me with no reservation for the next 3 nights. Not fun!A couple of things to note about the rental... The space is an adorable studio that was converted from a garage. The pool is behind the host's house, and the yard is shared, so it is not a single unit with a private pool. I suppose it's a little more like staying at a B&B than a single dwelling.

Jody shared upon arrival that she had a condition where certain odors caused migraine headaches. We do not use scent diffusers or any type of fragrance in our rentals for this reason. We had several people perform a “sniff test” and could not detect any scenti, however, one person mentioned the slight smell of jasmine in the garden and noted this is a common trigger. Jody left immediately and requested a 100% refund. Since it was 6PM we gave her a refund apart from her first night. Regarding the pool, when the rental is occupied, it is for use of our guests exclusively and this is mentioned in the description.
