The Space:

The name 'Whale of a View' says it all! This unique and very charming, two-story getaway provides amazing 180-degree views of the Pacific from the upper and lower decks, as well as from inside the home. You will also find a roomy kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, plus a dining area and living space warmed by a gas fireplace. This is truly a home where you're sure to make great vacation memories with your family, friends, and even the family dog.



Miles of beach, all waiting to be explored, can be accessed just down the street from this home. The Boiler Bay Scenic Viewpoint and Fogarty Creek State Recreation Area are both great places to visit, just south of this home. Depoe Bay is only three miles south on Highway 101 and offers fun shops and restaurants. It is also home to the “World’s Smallest Harbor.” Spend a day exploring the town, take a whale-watching tour, or jump aboard a charter for some deep-sea fishing.

Great location and ocean view. Was a little musty when we arrived but aired out easily. There were a few items that need maintenence (blinds in 1st bedroom won't lower after being raised, lower rack of dishwasher missing a wheel, tv disconnected in 1st bedroom and unable to use, several broken slats on blinds). Overall a good homebase for exploring the area

Quite Neighborhood with a VIEW!

We loved this place! You could see the OCEAN from almost every window, the upper floor view was amazing. Beds are great and the kitchen had pretty much anything you would have needed. Loved this property and hope to stay again.

Ocean Walks

Clean and cute home. The circular , narrow, staircase to the main level would be hard if you are older or have bad knees. We enjoyed our stay. Well decorated and so clean. Can’t beat the price and good location. Takes about ten minutes to walk to the beach.

This is a nice house. The heat can be a little difficult to manage but, overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Best beach with best view

We stayed for 4 nights for a sisters get away without kids. Woo hoo! Perfect place to relax, chat, laugh, and explore. This cute house had the best beach view from the deck. A bit dated, but has a cozy welcoming vibe. Would definitely stay again.

Paradise destination

Overall, our experience here was AMAZING! Sure, it's a bit older and could use some sprucing, but THAT VIEW, it's worth EVERY PENNY! The location is not only beautiful, but it's so close to the local grocery store and conveniently located in between Lincoln City and our favorite, Depoe Bay! If I could live in this house, I WOULD! Management is so responsive and checked in several times to make sure we were comfortable. Can't wait to come back!

Great views!

Fantastic view and great piece of property with an easy walk to the beach through a cute neighborhood. 6 of us stayed comfortably with enough dishes, chairs, couches, towels, toiletries, etc for everyone. Dog friendly, thankfully, because we brought our dog, but it didn't smell like dogs had been there, nor did we see any dog hair on any furniture, so it was very clean. It is outdated, which could put some people off, but the furniture and decor were very beachy, which was a fun vibe, and I think it was very well priced for the view and location. All 6 of us had a great stay and would happily stay again!

Great views. Excellent property

Fine house and great ocean watching. Well set up. Only issue for folks to be aware of is if very elderly folks or those with physical disabilities is kitchen and best sitting area views are up a spiralInside stair or steep external. But there is a pleasant sitting area and bathroom and 2bedrooms on main floor. All in all an excellent place.

I reviewed once but forgot to mention that the listing says it sleeps 8 but there are only beds for 6. There aren’t extra sheets, blankets or pillows for the extra two people.

Family emergency on drive to rental

Overall we didn’t get to enjoy this place as we were driving their To meet family for the weekend we got a call that my dad was in ambulance due to a stroke so we had to change course and head to eugene hospital. I called VRBO to let them know figuring I lost the daily rental rate but would get the cleaning deposit back since they need to clean but they said no to all of it. Very disappointing as we’ve used Vrbo a lot and due to a compassionate situation I would have thought they would have at least gave me my cleaning deposit back. Big disappointment.

Average with great views

The views were amazing and I can see why they named this property A Whale of a View. The property was just as expected with the pictures. However, this was not a toddler friendly place. As soon as we walked in the carpet was soaked. I can tell they just shampoo the carpet given the chairs upstairs were put up on the table. Which i appreciate the extra cleanliness, but it would have been nice to not have to walk around and go up the stairs with wet carpet during our stay. Additionally, hazardous chemicals were within reach of a toddler and left down below such as: dishsoap, dishwasher tablets, etc. There was a broken light bulb outside on the upper deck which the broken glass is still on the light string. We hung it out of the way. There was also rusted nails by the front entrance next to the outlet.

The location can’t be beat

View is amazing, the sound of the the waves can be heard from the home, the neighborhood is quiet, and the beds are comfy. We saw whales and seals from the upstairs deck, it was incredible! Unfortunately, though, especially for this price point, unless the flooring is updated we won’t be staying here again. When we entered we were instructed to remove shoes by a sign. We did so and then proceeded to walk through wet carpet stains. The upstairs smelled as though there may have been urine in the carpet. Even the dry part of the carpet was really stained and gross looking. When I mentioned this on the cleaning survey the following day, a maintenance person contacted me but at that point there wasn’t anything to be done. The customer service was great, so no complaints there. We chose to eat out for most of our meals and when I did use the kitchen toward the end of our stay, I noticed all but one of the large frying pans have deeply scratched Teflon surfaces, so they definitely need replacement. The interior staircase is spiral, and our dog refused to use it, so we spent a lot of time downstairs. There is an exterior staircase that hugs the outside of the building, so she was able to go upstairs but it wasn’t as convenient. The downstairs recliners are pretty beat up and torn in some areas, but still comfortable. Between the 2 first aid kits in the house, they were empty other than some gauze, we were looking for a bandaid. Aside from the carpet, the place is quirky but great.

Beautiful property, well maintained, super clean and comfy. Lots of seating which was so nice. Only quibble is make sure to get toilet paper for longer stays as we ran out towards the end.

Outstanding views. Wonderful beach.

This property was exactly as pictured. Its strength are in the views and beach. Be aware that the beach access is steep for anyone with walking challenges. We would definitely stay again. Kitchen is small for families that like to cook but the 6 of us managed. Hopefully the management company is addressing the upstairs bathroom sink not working.

Loved the view. House needs work

Pros: Amazing view. Nice stretch of beach Cons: 1st floor had musty smell and the carpet has small stains scattered throughout. Many of the pillowcases and blankets had visible stains on them. The remote for the heater on the 2nd floor did not work. Dining room chair seats were falling apart. There was no water pressure in the bathroom sink on the 2nd floor. The fluorescent light in one of the first floor bedrooms was blinking, and the little lamp did not have a working light bulb. The check out time of 10 am is unreasonable; the past homes we have stayed at have had checkout times of 11 am or later. Overall we had a great time. The view was great, and the beach was clean and not crowded. The house however needs some better cleaning and maintenance.

Communication needs improvement

No instructions for check out. I called to learn what was expected. After leaving by 9:30am, I received text at 5:00pm asking me when I would check out. Other than the checkout, place was very nice. Only two wine glasses, dishwasher doesn’t work well and bottom rack difficult to pull out. One more pot for pasta would be great. So for less than $25 this place would be much nicer.

Fabulous view

Very nice and clean house, close to stores. Wonderful view! We had 5 adults and a 1 year old. Having two living spaces was great for that. Only complaint was the queen bed was very hard. They called it sleeping on cement. Other than that very happy with everything.

Amazing location!

This house is so unique and beautiful! My husband and our son and my parents spent the week. Easy beach access and plenty of room for all. We will definitely be returning!
