We booked a 13-night stay and had to vacate early due to a cockroach issue. During our stay, on our second night there, we found cockroaches as well as cockroach droppings, which created major sanitation concerns and made us feel very uncomfortable continuing our stay – especially while traveling with our toddler.When we brought the issue to the host’s attention, she said she would have to send someone out asap to spray. We advised we cannot stay in a home that has cockroaches nor can we stay when toxic fumes would be sprayed as we have our toddler with us and our dog. Instead of showing concern or trying to resolve the situation appropriately, we were questioned about whether we would “leave our own home” over findings like this and after requesting a refund for the nights we were not spending at her home, were told “well then I’m going to be without this money”. Not a single mention of the inconvenience to us, or the unsanitary conditions we were unwillingly exposed to with our child. After we informed the host that we were vacating the property immediately and again, requested a refund for the unused portion of our stay, communication became nonexistent. The host began ignoring both our calls and VRBO’s NUMEROUS attempts (via phone calls AND emails) to contact them regarding the situation.Unfortunately, between the condition of the home and the lack of professionalism afterward, this experience was very stressful and disappointing to our family.
