Wonderful, very clean, bright and decorated cheerful to uplift our spirits as that was what we were wanting in a vacation home. Modern facilities and close to the water. Beautiful sunsets (no extra charge) over the lake!
What a great vacation home. Everything we needed for a memorable family vacation. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach, and what a great little beach. The owner was great to work with, and any time I had questions she was prompt with responses. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home!
Caryn is a wonderful hostess, and went above and beyond to provide everything we needed for our time at the home. The residence is in immaculate condition and the outdoor entertaining areas are surrounded by green space! The gardening adds an extra special touch, especially with everything in bloom. We would stay again!
The house and location were perfect for our party of 7! Caryn was very helpful and made the whole process very easy.
The house itself is lovely and sits in a beautiful quiet area. We saw deer and wild turkeys in our yard! The yard is nice size and allows space for kids to run around. And the screened in porch quickly became a favorite spot for the adults!
The beach access is as close as advertised but the hike down/up is a bit steep. But - once we got used to it the cove provided the perfect place for almost undisturbed beach time and beautiful sunsets.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave!!
This was a nice cottage in Stevensville. Unfortunately, the beach that can be walked to is still a few blocks away, and in 2019 is barely a beach, but instead a steep sand dune with no flat area to even fit a chair or towel, and dangerous to climb up. It was a drag to have to drive to the beach, but the township park was less than a mile away and it was great and empty. Outdoor shower was key to get the sand off and we used the fire pit to roast marshmallows every night- the owner even gave us firestarters and a lighter and the had firewood at the house. There is a great breezeway in the house to sit, relax and read as well.
We had a great time there, the owner is a total sweetheart, and the house was well kept, I just thought it was a little over-priced for the location being so far from a usable beach.
Carynâs place is a dream! We had a quick overnight away and packed in so much. The home is exceptionally landscaped and maintained. Beach access was a quick 5 minute walk and opened up to a nice private cove. We had a lovely time relaxing by a fire and enjoyed the sâmores that Caryn provided. The linens were so fresh and clean and bed was super cozy. We went to Tosiâs for dinner and highly recommend it. This area of Michigan is truly a hidden gem with a lot to offer. We will for sure be staying at this home again :)
Very nice and clean home. Beautiful grounds and deck. There was also a large screened in room that was absolutely perfect! We liked St Joe and the area. The beach left a little to be desired. It was very rocky and rather small. Overall a great time and the owner was very nice and accomodating.
The house was wonderful. One of the cleanest, well-supplied rentals I have ever stayed in. We were all comfortable and refreshed during our two night stay. We are already talking about coming back next summer!
The beach access around the corner was a nice addition. I wouldn't plan on it for your full beach experience - at least while we were there, the water levels were very high, the little beachfront there was was very rocky, and high seaweed levels meant we didn't want to go in. We drove 15 minutes to Warren Dunes to go to the beach there.
The property was very clean with ample towels, bath tissue, and toiletries provided. Only a 15 minute drive to downtown Saint Joseph so we felt we could get to shopping or restaurants easily if wanted, or be away from it all when wanted. The neighbors behind are a little close (and not very friendly), but the spacious front yard was very private and a great place for fires and making sâmores. The beach access is down a dune, so steep (as advertised). Most in our group handled it just fine, but a couple with physical limitations did not attempt it. Kids enjoyed passing time with the variety of games supplied. We had 3 generations at the cottage, and everyone was comfortable and had a great stay!
This was a beautiful property and we enjoyed it very much. Short walk to the beach and the dune on the beach was a hit with the kids. The owner was very responsive and helped us quite a bit. My only complaint would be that the owner seemed to keep a close eye on what we were up to stopping by for various reasons every day during our stay and staying around the property. I get it as you never know who you have in your personal home, but a little more privacy would have been nice. Overall though it was a really fantastic weekend.
Before our stay, I received a text from the host asking me to call her. She said the last group was âwild,â the police got called and she was afraid that her neighbors were going to complain about any noise. This was followed by a text informing me that she would be âstopping byâ the house on the only full day of our rental to drop off âsuppliesâ in the garage. The reason for the neighborsâ irritation became obvious upon arrival because the house is completely surrounded by adjacent houses and lacks any privacy when sitting on the deck. The host was at the property when the first guests arrived and made derogatory remarks about her neighbors. The Saturday of our rental, around 7:30pm, the host texted me to move our car so that she could access the garage, showed up to the property, and requested that we help her unload her vehicle that contained yard fertilizer. This interruption was followed by a text message to me in which unsubstantiated accusations were made against me and my guests that stated, âWhen stopped by to drop off yard chemicals in the garage I heard some loud hooting and hollering And I heard that you upset the neighbors by using the steps on their private property. This is not what you conveyed to me in our earlier correspondence how you behaved. You are putting [me] in a position of [losing] my permit Tone it down.â In reality, the alleged âhooting and holleringâ was laughter from us playing games on the deck; something that should be expected when renting your home to 8 people who are together in a close area. The accusation that we âupset the neighborsâ was equally puzzling. To access the beach there is an easement over a neighborâs property that is clearly contentious because the host left an email on the counter prior to our arrival from a neighbor expressing his what seems like annoyance with people crossing the easement. At the beach two of the guests who are pregnant asked a different neighbor if they could use the stairs to get back to the top. We did not âuseâ the stairs without permission. We were also charged a fee for rust stains on the carpet which were clearly from the legs of the chair in the bedroom. They were framed as âlipstickâ stains even though nobody was wearing lipstick nor does lipstick produce two perfect round equally distanced dots on the carpet exactly where chairs legs fall. Now instead of focusing on my upcoming wedding, I am writing this review and disputing erroneous damage charges.
Chicago getaway! Close to dunes! Great yard and very clean!
This house is located in a beach neighborhood with walk to (what looks like) a community path to a dune that you can climb down to the beach. Itâs a steep climb, but it didnât bother us. We were the only ones there for the sunset which was great. The kids loved boulder there. Close to warren dunes and grand mere state park(we loved). Very close to public beach and downtown at Joseph. House very clean and other older, everything looked new and in good condition. My kids loved the fire pit and playing in the backyard! Overall great stay!
We had the most perfect family getaway at this cottage in Michigan! We enjoyed the outdoor space and beach nearby and playing in the yard at night. The cottage was beautifully maintained and equipped with everything we might need. A great retreat for a family!
The six of us (my husband, grown kids and partners) completely enjoyed our three nights at Lake Lovers Delight. This property is lovely, super clean, and comfortable, with plenty of spaces to relax, from breakfast on the wrap-around porch, outdoor grilling for dinner, late night circles around the fire pit, and spotless bedrooms and comfortable sleep. We loved having the beach access right across the street. There is a steep dune to climb up and down, and just a small beach area, but the private cove is beautiful! It was perfect for swimming and taking in gorgeous sunsets each night. Caryn was a totally responsive and terrific host. This is a really wonderful place!
Our family had a wonderful weekend at the house! Caryn was so welcoming and the house was clean and inviting. My kids loved the backyard and fire pit the most and we enjoyed making sâmores each night. A great house and location for a weekend away!
Very spacious home. Very clean. Nicely decorated. large yard and very pretty and fairly quiet. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants a getaway, but still near beaches in St. Joseph, MI. Just a very comfortable spot.
If I vacationed in SW Michigan more frequently, I would seriously consider not giving this place a review because I would be afraid that you would take the days which I would want. The house was everything which I was looking for in a rental. The owner, Caryn comes from a real estate background so she knows what renters not only need but what they want as well. Additionally, she knows how to stage as well. What you get with this residence is 'WoW' followed by 'WoW'. There is a secluded beach (with no rocks) literally just around the corner and Caryn has stocked, beach chairs and some beach toys to bring with you in case you need them. When you return from the beach, there is an outdoor shower for getting the sand off or showering if you are less modest than I am. There is a fantastic deck in the backyard with a grill which I did not get a chance to take advantage of. The place exceeded every single one of my expectations and I could not be more pleased with my experience staying there. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to stay at. When the word gets out and it is nearly impossible to book you will be sorry that you did not stay here when you had a chance. ***** 5 stars all the way!!!
I was born and raised in St Joseph Michigan, moved out west to Colorado in 1977 to teach snow skiing. Met my husband, got married had 2 daughters, moved further west to Boulder City Nevada in 1988 for the construction boom. I came back to the SW MI area 14 years ago to visit my cousin who just moved back to the area and fell back in LOVE with the area again! It didn't take much to convince my husband to purchase this home as he is a native Californian and has always loved the water. We plan to retire to the area and until then hope you will be our guests in this little piece of paradise, we call home.
Only 90 miles from Chicago, yet a world away with good ole fashioned mid-west hospitality! 1/2 mile north of the famous, (not in great shape), Chalets and on 1/2 acre of treed, mowed lawn :). It is like stepping back in time the minute you arrive. That 'just breath' feeling and across the street from beach access!! The perfect getaway for any couple or family and an extremely wonderful solo retreat. A must see!
Lake Michigan World class white sand beaches :) Amazing produce and flowers grown in this area! Several road side stands and farmers markets. The fall leaves are spectacular and the winter is calm and peaceful. Many Winerys in the area to visit. Located between Bit of Swiss Bakery and the Lake! Very close to the famous Tosi's and Grand Mere restaurants. Excellent location. Life does not get better than this!
