Perfect for us

This house is cozy and adorable. We loved the wood paneling and the decks, which provide views of both the ocean and sound. The kitchen is well appointed and the main living space has nice tile, which makes for easy clean up with humans and dogs coming in from the beach, which is a short walk away. We enjoyed our stay.

The house is in a very convenient area, not much was more than 10 mins away. The house could use some updates with the furniture and beds. The house also needs pest control, there were roaches. The staff was helpful when needed, however I did receive multiple texts or emails about an "early" check out when we had no interest in leaving any earlier than we originally planned

Nice place to stay, dog owners beware

The property was nice and clean. The location was great. We enjoyed the hot tub. The only downside was the large number of burrs in the yard surrounding the property. Dog owners, be careful and maybe consider buying some protective footwear for your pups before your stay. Your dogs will get TONS of burrs stuck in their paws. Don’t walk barefoot around outside for this same reason.

Cute home

It was great waking up to the sound of ocean waves and beautiful sunrises. Some updates needed (refrigerator didn't cool) and could have been cleaner (smells like wet dog upon entry and a mattress needed cleaning). Overall, we had a great time and would return again!!

Beware of the steps

This home was generally a great experience, however it is not toddler/infant friendly. The steps are extremely steep and there isn’t any gates blocking the steps in either direction. The floors were dirty and smelled like old pee. The spiral staircase is really neat but again, not toddler friendly and still very awkward for an adult. The best part was the top balcony and the hot water in the outside shower.

We were a little frustrated when arriving, having problems with the lock bolt not fully disengaging and unlocking the door, needing someone to deliver a key, until another Technician could repair the lock the next day, finding a damaged min-blind in the 3rd Floor/Loft bedroom that was never replaced during our stay, the Hot Tub wasn't working and took two days for a Technician to address the issue, there was a coffee maker but no coffee pot. When a coffee pot was delivered, it was too big for the coffee maker, but would work with the pot lid open, and my oldest Daughter found a couple of large Palmetto bugs on her bed on separate occasions. Aside from that, the place was nice and conveniently located to public access to the beach.

House and Beach nice, cleanliness not so much.

This house was extremely dirty upon arrival. Smelled like cat pee when you walk in. Dog hair and human hair in every crack.

This house was filthy

The house smelled like marijuana and cigarettes, the sheets were dirty and there were dead cockroaches on the floor. Vacasa did nothing to help but drop off a bag of sheets.

Hi Jessica, we are disappointed to read that your recent experience was not satisfactory. When we were notified of the odor and issue with the sheets we offered to send housekeeping and a manager with an ozone machine and you advised you did not want anyone in the home due to your dogs. Therefore, we had housekeeping bring fresh linens and drop them off. We would have been happy to address any issues in the home directly had we been allowed access. We have provided your valuable feedback to our local manager to address with our housekeeping team and hope to have the opportunity to better impress you in the future.

We love this house because if fits our larger family`s needs. Last year we were able to have a family reunion, allowing everyone to visit with my mother-in-law who is suffering from alzheimer`s, which was truly a blessing. We love the location! Amazing views of the Sound. Very private and quiet, feels secluded. It has been the perfect getaway from the hustle & bustle of everyday life. Lots of activities for the kids. Love the ability to rent kayacs & bikes, so we don`t have to bring our own. Sound Therapy has become an annual family tradition. This house may be small but it is one of the best kept secrets of Hatteras Island. We stay at this property every year for its view, location and it`s fishing dock. We met the owner upon arrival who was very gracious and let us drop lines in the water while we waited to check in since we arrived so early the night before. We love this home. Master bed is incredibly comfortable. Water pressure amazing. View and deck is unmatched. New furniture is great too! Wifi did not work at all and hot tub jets did not work but we were too busy catching live bait for island fishing. This house is perfect for couples or small groups that appreciate sound front experiences. No other house on the island sits on the water the way this one does. We will be back but probably moving to the island permanently next year anyway. Thanks to Charlie the owner and Outer beaches for always providing such a great vacation! Perfect location

The location of the property was perfect!!!!! The beds were very uncomfortable except the bed in the master bedroom on the third floor The rugs on the bottom floor could really use a deep clean There were no extra towels. There were no beach towels anywhere …..upon arriving. I noticed the coffee pot was dirty. The washer and dryer was quite old. We expected some welcome pamphlets, or a book to tell us what was around the area or even something telling us where the beach access was we had to walk around to find the beach access. overall, we did enjoy our stay. It was closer to the ocean than we expected. We just wish the house would’ve had more amenities. We went down there for my daughter’s 15th birthday. I couldn’t even make her a cake because there were no cake pans to do that. There was no can opener on site. There were no lights on the first deck on the second deck there were two lights, but only one worked. The lack of amenities did not ruin our stay. We made it work ….again The view was outstanding.

Vacation 2022

Had to rent a different house this year as the one we usually rent was sold and is no longer pet friendly. The house is a lot smaller than the pictures show and the inside furniture was very uncomfortable. When we arrived on Sunday the hot tub was leaking. We called/texted every day for 4 days asking them to come look at the hot tub since we couldn’t use it nor could we sit on either deck because of the constant dripping of water. Finally on the 4th day someone came and we were told we could not use the hot tub. No credit was given to us for the inconvenience. House was not clean upon arrival. Floors were sandy, dishwasher had dirty dishes in it, garbage was never taken out, coffee pot was full of coffee and coffee grinds. No easy access to the beach, only 4 chairs on the deck to sit on, could not change the temp of the a/c so the house was always freezing. We have rented from Outer Beaches Realty several times in the past and have always been happy with the service/house. They have since been bought by Vacasa, and we will never rent another house through them.
