This classic Maine cottage offers stunning south-facing oceanfront views, a brick fireplace, screened in porch and completed with a sandy pocket beach located on 751' of picturesque water frontage. Private and peaceful, this home invites you to slow down, reconnect with nature, and embrace the simplicity of life.

Sherwood Cottage is a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house which sits in a wooded, seaside location in the Sunshine area of Deer Isle. It has been a cherished family heirloom for generations with the owners opening the doors to guests when they are unable to visit. Sherwood Cottage offers many of the qualities that make for an ideal vacation retreat: ocean views, a private beach, outdoor screened porch, a cozy fireplace as well as the option to bring your family pet.

The home is designed for easy, one-level living. On the ground floor, you'll find two bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room and a laundry area. The kitchen features all the essentials for preparing meals and there is a dishwasher to take the sting out of the clean up process.

The first bedroom is furnished with a King-sized bed, dresser, and closet plus a private ensuite bathroom with a shower/tub combo. The second bedroom offers a Queen-sized bed, dresser, and closet, with access to a full bathroom featuring a tub/shower combo. The third bedroom is located on the second floor and includes both a King-sized bed and two Twin-sized beds.

Sherwood Cottage offers plenty of outdoor activities to help you fully enjoy the natural beauty of the area. Guests have exclusive access to the private pocket beach. In addition the owners provide bicycles and two kayaks for your use (at your own risk). For relaxation, you can unwind on the deck which enjoys ocean views on the screened-in porch, which provides shade and protection from the sun, as well as from summer bugs.

A Perfect Retreat on Deer Isle

We had a wonderful stay at Sherwood Cottage on Deer Isle. This was our second time staying at the property, and we loved it just as much as the first. We especially enjoyed the beautiful view, the peaceful surroundings, and the natural beauty of the island. Seeing deers along the road was very special. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back again.

Lovely waterfront cottage with awesome amenities!

We had a lovely stay at Sherwood Cottage. The kitchen was super well-equipped -- and we've stayed at a lot of vacation homes in Maine so we know to compare. The water views are stunning and it was delightful to have two kayaks provided for our use. The beds were clean and comfortable and the place was super well supplied (often when we stay somewhere we run out of paper towels and toilet paper but not here!) An extra bonus is a screened in porch so you can have dinner with a water view and not be bothered by mosquitoes.

Serene beautiful Water Front Cottage.

We had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful and peaceful Sherwood Cottage in Deer Isle, and it was truly a perfect getaway. The house itself is very comfortable, with everything you need to feel at home. What we loved most, however, was the serenity. The setting is wonderfully quiet, allowing you to simply relax and enjoy the gentle sounds of nature. The ocean view is breathtaking, especially at sunrise, sunset, and makes every moment feel special. Kayaking right from the property was a highlight, offering an unforgettable way to experience the coastline. Between the comfort of the home, the spectacular view, and the peaceful atmosphere, Sherwood Cottage is a place we can’t wait to return to.

Perfect spot for a Maine vacation

Deer Isle is a bit off the beaten path, so if you are seeking nightlife and tourist attractions, look elsewhere. If you are looking for classic Maine scenery, outdoor recreation, and some peace and quiet, Sherwood Cottage just might be for you. It’s a simple cottage, with nothing fancy about it. But it offers great views, a screened porch and a deck both overlooking the water. There’s direct, easy access to your own little piece of coaastline. There was plenty of room for two couples, a three-year-old, and an 91-year-old to enjoy two weeks of relaxation and family time.

Great location for kayaking, reading, enjoying spectacular views

The house is very comfortable, large deck and screen porch. Unfortunately the dishwasher was broken and there was no cable. Internet was weak. The kitchen was well stocked and cooking was easy. We were a party of 6 men, who love cooking and kayaking so the house overall was perfect.

CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations must be in writing and received by Agent. Cancellations may only be made between the date that a reservation deposit is received and a date determined to be 45 days prior to the tenants scheduled arrival date. Cancelations within 45 days of arrival will not result in a refund in whole or part of rental monies received. If a cancellation is made prior to 45 days of arrival, the Agent shall, as an accommodation to the Tenant, make an effort to re-rent the property at the published rate for the rental term reserved. No refund of rents paid will be made until the canceled period is re-rented and confirmed. If the canceled period is re-rented, any rent and taxes paid will be refunded less a $100 administrative fee. If the re-rental amount is less than the published rate, any difference in rental rate remains the sole obligation of the tenant. If the unit is not re-rented, all rents paid, processing fees and taxes shall be forfeited as damages. This cancellation policy is strictly followed. Tenants are encouraged to purchase travel insurance for all vacations to cover many situations that may arise that might cause one to cancel vacation plans. There are many independent insurance providers available to tenants.
