LA DESCRIPTION
Situé au cœur de Carmel by the Sea, ce studio studio d'une seule pièce est à quelques pas de tout - restaurants, plages, boutiques - mais situé sur un terrain calme et double au milieu d'un bosquet de vieux chênes qui offre tranquillité et intimité. La maison a été largement mise à jour avec une nouvelle salle de bains, une cuisine, des planchers de bois franc, un lit king-size et de nouveaux meubles partout.

Ce chalet studio indépendant a été entièrement mis à jour avec des équipements modernes tout en conservant l'authenticité et le caractère de la maison d'origine, y compris les planchers en planches de pin, la quincaillerie pour loquet et les fenêtres en verre ondulées. La maison offre un luxueux lit king oriental avec des draps en coton égyptien de 1200 fils au pouce, une housse de couette en lin belge et des taies d'oreiller. Tout est haut de gamme.

Profitez du wifi gratuit (wifi haut débit en classe affaires), de la télévision Xfinity et des laissez-passer gratuits pour l'aquarium de Monterey Bay.

Il y a aussi une maison principale séparée de 2 BR / 2 BA sur ce terrain double qui peut accueillir 4 personnes avec sa propre cuisine et ses espaces de vie séparés, et il est disponible moyennant un supplément. We have traveled quite extensively and I can say we have never received more gracious and thoughtful hospitality. Barry provides a 5 Star Concierge Level service equal to any luxury hotel or premium resort. Location is great and everything one needs is provided. We throughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Barry is one of the best hosts I’ve engaged with on VRBO. Clear and timely communication are just two of his hallmarks. His Carmel Cottage is pristine and so welcoming. It’s also perfectly situated in Carmel to be just off the beaten path yet walkable to everything. Additionally, there are several thoughtful approaches by Barry to make for an ideal stay. When I booked months ago, he reached out to learn more about the purpose of our trip, the types of restaurants we like and other seemingly small details that all manifest in ways large and small in welcoming us to the cottage. Wonderful little cottage

We are so glad that we rented this property. We could walk to all of the shops and restaurants, yet we were on a quiet residential street. The cottage itself is lovely, from the decor, original details, and the surrounding gardens. Barry was the perfect host who made us feel welcome and at home before, during, and after our stay.

Barry is the finest host we have ever had at VRBO, or any other rental platform. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome - wine & cheese board upon our arrival, homemade cookies with ice cream, and a couple of unobtrusive check ins during our stay to make sure everything was running smoothly.Barefoot Comfort is equally outstanding. It is impeccably designed and furnished, with top of the line linens, bath towels, and furnishings. On site laundry was a plus. The location is fabulous! We walked to dinner, the galleries and shopping.We are excited about our next stay.

We stayed 11 nights in this charming historic cottage at the end of a winding garden path. Walk to amazing restaurants, wine tastings, boutiques, historical venues, expansive gallery district, and Carmel Beach. Drive for a few minutes to reach Steinbeck's Cannery Row, inspiring hikes, dramatic coastline, Santa Lucia Highlands wineries, or a short distance more to Santa Cruz, Big Sur and Pinnacles National Park. This stay is a retreat in evey way, from its cottage chic ambience to the owner's personal touch as a host. Stamped post cards to be shared, a welcoming bottle of Monterey County wine, scattered hand-written notes to be discovered, and a wonderfully creative dessert are examples of how Barry made our stay unique among the many we have experienced. And then there's Carmel-by-the-Sea... we've visited on 25 or more occasions. From daytrips to a weekend to extended stays like this one, Carmel, Big Sur Coast and greater Monterey County offer as diverse a vacation experience as any geographical local in our country. Sweet Carmel Cottage

The Starfish cottage is perfect. It is a charming and fully equipped space with everything you need. Sweet touches abound with beautiful lighting, deluxe bed and bedding, garden space, full kitchen and a quiet in town location under the pines. Just a short walk to everything Carmel. The host is attentive and gracious. GREAT CARMEL EXPERIENCE

Impressive

Great place in a great location. Walkable to downtown area, shops, restaurants. Nice walk to beach. Host is easy to reach and goes the extra mile to make you feel at home and provides little extras which are a nice touch. Well stocked and immaculately clean. Hope to stay again.

Fantastic stay in Carmel

We stayed for a week in Barry’s Starfish cottage. It was cozy, very clean and comfortable. What a treat to find a charcuterie tray, chocolates and a bottle of wine! Loved the location. It was so convenient to walk to restaurants and all of the shops in Carmel. We would definitely stay again. Thank you Barry for taking care of us!

Wow, our trip to Carmel was beyond expectations. The property is beautiful and very clean, comfortable and is perfectly located. We had a great vacation there.

Fabulous stay in Carmel by the Sea

Our bungalow was absolutely perfect, so stylish, clean, comfortable and walking distance to everywhere. Barry was over accommodating and made sure our stay was fabulous! We can’t wait to go back 😊

Little place in heaven

The cottage was just as perfect as you could ask for. Has a great location and quite setting in a little town of Carmel by the Sea.

I grew up in Chicago, surrounded by timeless architecture and true craftsmanship. In my twenties, I wandered through North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, falling in love with the art of hospitality — the shared table, the unspoken warmth of being welcomed as family. Those experiences taught me that real connection lives at the intersection of people, place, and space — a feeling I try to evoke in every home I create.

Hosting happened naturally. Friends began staying in my renovated cottages, and I realized how much joy came from crafting spaces where people instantly feel at ease — spaces that are simple, serene, and genuine.

For me, hosting isn’t business; it’s an extension of care. I want guests to rest well, breathe deeply, and leave a little lighter than when they arrived. I believe the smallest details — soft light, a quiet reading nook, the scent of ocean air through an open window — can shift how we feel.

When I’m not hosting, you’ll find me exploring the California coast, sketching ideas for another design project, or traveling to gather new inspiration. Wherever I go, I’m drawn to that same timeless grace — the kind of hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home.

The best part of all this is hearing from guests who say they found peace here, or that they didn’t want to leave. That’s when I know the spirit of the place has done its work.

What I love about this neighborhood is its simplicity. There are no streetlights or sidewalks, just narrow lanes, ivy-covered fences, and homes that reflect the people who’ve cared for them. Each cottage feels individual, shaped by hand and history.

The cottage sits behind native gardens and old trees that filter the sun throughout the day. Inside, the design is simple and intuitive. Morning light pours through the windows; evenings settle into a quiet glow. The materials are natural — wood, stone, linen, glass — creating a timeless calm that reflects Carmel’s landscape.
