Great place for JMU Family Weekend. Enjoyed the deck and grill for a family meal with stellar views. No small children in our group, but any kids would love the built in bunk beds!
We came to relax, enjoy the views, sit by a fire, and celebrate our friendship. Our host kept in touch and responded to all our questions quickly. We got all we came for and really enjoyed our stay!
We were a group of 4 authors staying here for a weekend writing retreat. The space was exactly what we needed! The house was clean, stocked with appropriate basics, quiet, and had plenty of space for the four of us. The views were also beautiful!
The Lucky Bear is a well-stocked cabin in a great location. The family space and sleeping arrangements were great and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bathrooms and carpet could use a deep cleaning or replacement. All linens, except wash cloths were provided.
Spring Break trip with teenagers and preteens to the waterpark. The cabin had gorgeous views, and everyone had their own space. The cabin was well stocked, more so than other short-term rentals. We loved our stay!
The view is worth the stairs up the property. The owner had thought of everything - amenities, linens, toiletries. We loved staying at the lucky bear - charming, cute and a gorgeous view!
Great location and tastefully furnished. Lots of beds for a family of 7. 10 people can stay easily. Pantry was stocked with lot of dishes. Did a night of Camp fire and a day of grilling with view of mountain from the patio. I would definitely stay again and thanks for being a super host
Our family of 5 had a wonderful weekend getaway in this beautiful home. The home was inviting, warm, and had everything we needed. We cooked all our meals and made s'mores, with 2/3 kids being toddlers and we felt the firepit was safe and easy to use. The kids loved the bunkbeds and having their own space. We celebrated my son Craig's 9th birthday, he loved it so much. We made great memories and took great pictures. The house has character, the only suprise were all the stairs leading up to the home but once you make it inside, its so cozy you won't want to leave. All in all, it was a phenomenal trip, not a long drive from central dmv area and very easy to find. We would love to come back, whether it be for the Winter or Summer. To Lee Dearing who helped me return my son's clothes to us, I am forever grateful.
We spent a long weekend at Massanutten and enjoyed staying at this cabin. The cabin is up in the mountains with an amazing views. Be prepared to go up a lot of stairs to reach it. We had 2 families with little kids and the living room downstairs helped a lot with giving the adults some space. The cabin is in the smaller size, but has all you need.
Beautiful view and great location, kitchen well stocked but ... The main bathroom was not to clean the rug had "stuff" on it. Moved the coffee maker and dust underneath, stovetop could a bit cleaner
This house accommodated my family and friends. Bunk beds room were great for the kids. It was definitely the highlight of the house for us. Stairs were a lot, but we survived it. Great workout to start our skiing/boarding adventure. Would definitely look into this house again.
We enjoyed our stay in this home, and I would recommend it highly for family vacations. The home was well appointed, neat and welcoming, and the kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed many of the nearby community amenities, including the miniature golf, and swimming. We were also able to hike from the house. When we were not out doing things, it was lovely to be able to enjoy the view and privacy of the deck, and the kids had a wonderful time in the bunk room. I would certainly stay here again. Thank you.
House was dusty and kitchen table not wiped town. Towels had toothpaste and throw up on them. Sheets on one bed appeared to not be clean. The basement door knob was on the ground outside. Some of the blinds were broken.
That being said the house was perfect size for our family members. It was comfortable layout. The views and location where outstanding.
Fantastic location that makes it difficult to venture to far. So many things to do, kids loved zip line. Owner was very easy to reach, even provided his own number. House was clean and accessible to everything Massanutten has to offer. Only thing I couldn't figure out and didn't have time to call property manager was lights for steps outdoors did not work. Which made coming up stairs at night difficult. Other than that, would not change a thing and recommend a stay here.
Great location on resort property close to the slopes!
Could have been a bit cleaner. Not sure when was last occupied but there were dusty surfaces, a few cobwebs, dust in bathroom vent fan, etc. Minor leak of rain through upstairs bathroom skylight. Only had one additional kitchen trash can liner. Other wastebaskets had no liners.
House was both big enough and cozy for two families. Teenage girls loved the built in bunk beds on lower level. Loved having the Christmas tree up! Snowed the morning we left; great view of snowy valley below.
The house is nice and kitchen well stocked with cookware. The problem we had was that there was no heat in the downstairs bunk room where we had to sleep 4 children. When we called the property manager he said that room was not heated and he had received prior complaints. This was on one of the coldest weekends of the winter with temps in the teens. There was a space heater but it did not work. The property manager said he was coming over several times but never showed up until after we called the owner. When he did show he did not speak to us, went in the downstairs for a minute and left without saying a word to us. Still no heat. I just asked that they provide a working space heater at least but nothing was done. Very rude treatment. The fact that there is no heat down there should have been disclosed to us. It should say that in the description of the house. It was wrong and deceptive to rent this house and not disclose that. I would never rent it again. It really put a wrench in our weekend. House advertised to sleep 10 but that is not true in the winter unless you want to freeze to death. Of course no discount or any compromise was offered. Probably will have to fight just to get deposit back from these people.
We purchased this home because it reminded us of the family cabins that we grew up with in California. Our kids love the outdoors and Massanutten provides the perfect base camp for exploring the George Washington and Shenandoah National Forests.
We have remodeled our cabin to meet the needs of two families. The large dinning room table comfortably seats 10 and the bunkhouse provides a great place for the kids to hangout while the adults visit upstairs in front of the gas fireplace.
