4 ladies enjoyed 4 nights 5 days this fall weekend. The space was perfect and just what we were looking for - rooms to sit and chat, play games, eat and share a beverage or two. We each had our own bedroom and shared bathrooms. Lots of personality and character in this comfy older lake house. Several of us hope to return in the future with our own families or other groups. The view of the lake is beautiful and the beach was a delight, even in October. Thank you for making this available to us.
I have few regrets about vacations, but I sincerely wish we had a week to relax on the lake in Union Pier. This is a lovely cottage, beautifully appointed, in a phenomenal spot. I'm grateful to our hosts for being thoughtful, detail oriented and just for proving us with a way to be immediately relaxed. I love a trip to Notre Dame, but the time in the cottage was a highlight of the year for me.
Belle Cottage was as nice as advertised. All of the amenities that we expected and the location in Union Pier on the beach were perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Great property for a relaxing stay. Quiet location, steps from the beach, huge enclosed porch with lots of cozy corners for reading and conversation. Non-commercial area with great small local businesses, not loaded with tourists like many beach towns in the region.
The check in process was flawless. No contact needed at all with anyone which was important for us during pandemic. The house was clean and well kept. The deck overlooking the lake is amazing. It would have been nice to have some of the trees trimmed to have a better view of the lake. It was nice to go down to the private beach. It is disappointing that so much of the beach has been washed away in Union Pier from a decade ago, but it was enough space to enjoy.
The house itself is an older home with antiques in home. It has a lot of charm, but some of the furniture should be replaced or refurbished.
It was nice to have televisions on site. My recommendation when I stay at vacation homes as not a lot do this, is to have a night stand on both sides of the bed and at least one lamp. It was a minor inconvenience. All in all, excellent stay and highly recommended.
We enjoyed our stay here in Union Pier. Being able to walk down the stairs right on to your private beach was the most memorable part of our stay. Every night, we enjoyed a short walk for ice cream down the road. The location was superb.
Bluefish was very easy to communicate with over email and made the whole process very easy. The only complaint was that we wish the floors were cleaner.
Very charming old lake home, full of nooks, crannies and secret hide aways. Updated kitchen, vintage inspired baths, right on Lake Michigan. Clean beds and lots of towels. Our family had a wonderful time and will definitely come back.
This is a nice property. The private beach is superb: Nice amount of sand, good frontage, mostly sand bottom. There is a public beach a few hundred feet away and sometimes you have to push back on people expanding out from that area. Access is pretty easy, about 50 stairs. Even the young kids were OK to go to the beach. There are a few beach toys. The house is generally good. The enclosed porches provide a fair amount of room and yet privacy. The bedrooms downstairs are pretty tight, upstairs a little more room. Decent bathrooms but only 2 so lots of sharing if you have a big group. The house is meant to be more of a traditional lake home rather than a new shiny structure. You do have to put up with rattling doorknobs and doors that don't quite fit. A big surprise was how many of the doors squeak loudly. We were particularly surprised that the oven and the dishwasher positively shrieked every time they were used. Remember to bring paper towels, soap, kleenex etc because that is not provided.. The AC worked well. The yard was spacious and good for kids to play. The deck is large and has nice view of lake. Good grill. Al in all, a pretty nice place for a week at the beach.
2nd year in Union Pier and 8th year vacationing in southwest Michigan. Everything was as advertised. Outside of bringing extra paper towels and toilet paper the house was stocked with everything you could need. The weather was spotty, but the house was big enough to accommodate 4 kids and 5 adults without feeling cramped at all. The kids had a blast at the beach and enjoyed sports in the huge front lawn. Highly recommended
Charming and spacious --the wraparound porch and the proximity to the beautiful private beach were our favorite features, but several things needed repairs and sprucing up, and the towel supply was very inadequate (1 towel and washcloth per person for 4 days). We truly enjoyed our stay but expected a few more amenities for the price.
Everyone really enjoyed the clean house, wraparound porch, and private beach. Ownership was professional and house access was easy. The only minor complaint was a lack of any household items such as dish towels, paper towels (one roll provided), beach towels, shampoo/conditioner, soap, fridge condiments, etc. I wish we had known this in advance as we would have brought our own supplies. We would definitely stay here again for a group trip from Chicago - it was the perfect stay.
