Charmante maison de 7 chambres + Coach House entièrement rénovée (une chambre et salle de bain) sur un grand terrain boisé à 0. 4 miles de la plage! La maison a été récemment rénovée avec de nouveaux comptoirs en granit, des appareils en acier inoxydable, de la peinture fraîche et un bureau / bureau. C'est l'escapade parfaite! Les plaisirs estivaux abondent - profitez des activités nautiques sur le lac, du vélo, dînez dans de fabuleux restaurants à proximité, faites du shopping en ville, visitez le casino de classe mondiale, les parcs et les vignobles. À l'automne, visitez les parcelles de citrouille, cueillez vos propres pommes dans les vergers locaux, regardez le soleil se coucher sur le lac et profitez du bruissement des feuilles vibrantes. L'hiver est également incroyable - confortable au coin du feu, skiez dans plusieurs stations à proximité, traîneau, patin à glace ou tout simplement délectez-vous du paradis hivernal. Wonderful home!

We had a lovely stay with extended family in Union Pier! We loved the porch for meals and the in-law suite for hanging out after the kids went to bed. It was nice to have so many bedrooms, so each family really got their own space. The beach is close and beautiful; what more could you ask for!

cozy and charming

It was a great and affordable spot for our family reunion of 22 people!! lots of hang out space, cute walk to the beach (although i wouldn't advertise it as "steps" from the beach...it was about 3 blocks and then down stairs), and the seperate house was great to put all of the kids in at night. Thanks for sharing!

Beach Family Vacation 2022

Second year we have stayed at the yellow house ( what we all call it). Had a fabulous time. Weather was great. we did alot of beaching and playing in the large yard. The evenings were cooler this year and we did alot of hot tub evenings as well. Will be back.

Perfect place for a Michigan getaway

This house was perfect for our weekend trip! The location is ideal- was only a couple mins away from the town, restaurants, and the lake, and a 10 min drive from a beautiful apple orchard. The house was very charming and full of character, but modern. It had a ton of room for the whole group to sit together. The kitchen and coach house look brand new. The owner also kept plenty of board games and cards for the whole family to enjoy! Would definitely come back!

This house is perfect!

This house was perfect for our large family. It has eight bedrooms and four and a half baths. The walk to the beach was very short and there was plenty of beach paraphernalia in the shed. There were plenty of tables and chairs and a well stocked kitchen. Joanne was very courteous in returning my texts and she even called me to make certain everything was to our liking.

Charming house

It was very overwhelming to get all the towels washed before we left especially checking out by 11:00. We met family the night before and had to cut our visit short because of the towels. I think they should have the cleaning service to do the towels. Loved the beach

Long awaited reunion

Our friendship began in Chicago, but our group is now scattered across the country. We picked right up where we left off, and Joanne's home had plenty of indoor and outdoor space for reconnecting. It was an easy walk to the gorgeous beach, and a quick drive to restaurants, grocery store, etc in New Buffalo — we highly recommend checking out the Hummingbird Lounge for cocktails and a creative food menu.

Great family trip!

The house was a great meeting place for our family. It accommodated 11 of us easily. Wonderful screened in porch with a huge table we could all gather around for meals. The grounds we're secluded and lovely. Lots of beach supplies too. We really just needed to show up. Our only suggestion would be some queen sized beds. Otherwise it was a perfect getaway! And you can't best Lake Michigan so close! Thanks for a great trip!!

Memories that will last a lifetime!

This is the 11th year our group of 13 has stayed in the area and we all agreed that this was one of our favorite homes due to location and space for all to spread out as well as common areas to come together to eat and relax. The basketball court and the fire pit were great! So many chairs and tables to gather outside and in. We loved that each of the 3 family’s had their own full bath and the Coach house was a fun spot for kids to hang! The beach was just a short walk. We enjoyed the deer who payed us a visit. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Joanne was super responsive to all of our questions. We can’t wait to return. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

Beach Vacation 2021

The house was great for us, our three children and spouses and their 5 children. Access to the beach was close enough that our youngest could ride his bike there. The beach was beautiful. The yard was spacious and we had fun playing games with the kids. My only negative would be that we had a couple very hot days and the air conditioner is right below the deck of the screened in porch and the vent of hot air made it unusable those two days. Other wise we used it alot. Thanks Joanne. We had a great vacation at your home on Second , in Union Pier.

Great Group House and beach access

Our favorite thing about this house was the less than 10 minute walk to the beach. We had 10 adults and 6 kids under the age of 7 and the house with coach house was big enough to accommodate our group with multiple big tables and gathering spaces. We walked to the beach every afternoon (except one that was rainy). The house is an older home and therefore the walls are thin and bedrooms on the smaller side so all middle of the night school age kid trips to the bathroom and early risers were hearable. We also had a few outlets that didn’t work, missed a few pans and such that weren’t stocked in the kitchen, and multiple sports balls provided weren’t inflated. But overall the accommodations met our needs and we had an amazing week spending time with family and soaking up some sun! Joanne was very communicative and made our stay wonderful.

Perfect Beach Vacation Home

We had a wonderful week ! The house had everything you needed for a large group , big backyard with all kinds of outdoor seating in both sun and shade, a hot tub new basketball court volleyball equipment and all kinds of beach chairs , floats and toys for the kids, a shady screened porch Beach was an easy walk ( even the 3 yr old walked it most days ) There are stairs at the end but they’re well maintained cement with railings so fine for all of our group which went from 68 -1 Our group of married kids and grandkids ( 10 adults 6 grandkids ) were very comfortable in the 8 bedrooms Just be aware that many of the beds are only doubles so if you have couples they will sleep cozy😊 Our only disappointment was that the kitchen was not bigger because we did a lot of group dinners so it was a little tight, but they had all the cooking and dining utensils you could need or want. The area was wonderful close to beaches, restaurants, shopping, wineries farmer markets, golf what ever you would want on vacation I’d say the house was ideal ! Joanne thanks again for sharing your beautiful house with our family. We have wonderful memories of the best family vacation yet!

House has great potential

Our 3 generation family spread out in this large home. We loved being close to lovely Lake Michigan. The coach house was beautiful & a huge plus to the property. As others have mentioned, a small refrigerator would make the coach house complete. The whole family enjoyed fun in the hot tub. The owner was responsive to several issues we had while renting. This home has tremendous potential if an investment was made into maintenance. The floors inside are uneven & had dangerous shards which we covered with rugs. The wood in many places on the exterior of the home is rotting & needs replacing. The air conditioning unfortunately did not work for 5 of our 7 days despite the owner making many efforts to get it repaired. It made for a very uncomfortable week in the high 80 degree temperatures. Ceiling fans in the home would be a huge help but box fans were available in most rooms. The outdoor screen room is great in milder temperatures & had a ceiling fan. Eventually the air was repaired on our last night in the home and it was way more comfortable. Most of the beds were comfortable with the exception of one that had wood slats that could be felt through the mattress. The ice maker did not work in the refrigerator. Despite the issue we encountered, the homeowner communicated well & gave a partial refund for the inconveniences. This historic home is lovely, but be prepared for quirks of an older home that has settled. Overall, our family had a great trip despite a few negatives!

Not up to expectations

This house was quite disappointing. It needs work. The appliances are out of date, furnishings are pretty old, the place needs maintenance. For example the screened in porch has ripped screens with duct tape on them. Not that we wanted to watch tv but it would have been nice for the kids to be able to do a movie (especially on a rainy morning) and since there was no DVD player (as advertised) and the tv was about 20 years old so that couldn't happen. There is a lack of window treatments... including NO window coverings in the bathroom facing another house across the yard! Plus the windows are really dirty. Stairs to upstairs are steep so hard for young kids and older folks. On the plus side the location is good with an easy walk to the beach and the guest house is ok but again no window coverings. The house needs refurbishing and painting and general upgrade for the price.

It is so unfortunate that a series of things happened just prior to their visit. There was an awful storm and I think the windows got really dirty. Someone walked off with the DVD player and 30 DVDs which is very disappointing. Since it is our family’s house we have never really wanted to encourage TV watching which is why we have resisted upgrading the tv system. We have board games, volleyball, a basketball hoop and close proximity to the beach. However, since so many people are asking for it, we will install new TV in the next few weeks. We really take pride in the house and are very surprised to see this review as most of our guests really love their experience. Below is an email that was sent to me the first day of the trip. If there were any problems at that time, I could have had them addressed promptly. "We have arrived ...had dinner and everything looks great ... Just so u know .. There is not a DVD player here that we see .. Hoping no one walked off with if,, Not for us ,,, the kids :) Thanks for your help" As you can see, I had no reason to believe their expectations were not met.

CONS: -Grass-not freshly cut, leading to many more mosquitoes around property -no accommodation for broken backboard; perhaps a portable basketball apparatus while being replaced; or at least offer some sort of credit or accommodation (eg. a meal coupon) since the basketball court is one of the highlights of the property according to description -bushes overgrown by back stairs -back porch table dirty -trash on ground around can when we arrived (we picked up) -home is definitely ‘settling’, as there are many spots throughout where you are ‘leaning’ when you walk; several spots in kitchen where nails are coming thru -no clear directions to private beach -requiring previous guests to wash towels for the next guests seems a bit unsanitary & is time-consuming -old TV; could possibly have a more updated tv for main living room PROS: -Very nice bathrooms, esp. in Coach House -beds comfortable, but mattress/pillow covers are needed -plenty of seating; inside & out -nice appliances -plenty of bath and beach towels -peaceful area -plenty of parking space -nice hottub -adequate cooking utensils (tho some are worn or broken) & pots/pans; a pasta strainer & modern can opener would be helpful -Coach House is lovely; perhaps a mini-fridge could be added so guests aren’t needing to go to main house for a late nite drink or fridge snack -Appreciate the property owners’ quick response to AC issue

GREAT PROPERTY for family get-together

This property had a LOT of spaces that our family of 11 enjoyed very much! It was within walking distance to the beach, too. Excellent communication from the property owner before and during our stay. THANK YOU!

Family vacation

We had a wonderful time at this charming property. Everything is explained exactly as it appears. We had plenty of space and everything we needed for the 16 of us ranging in age from 9-77. We would definitely book again!

Marvelous!

All 12 of us loved our stay! Highly recommend! Five min walk to the beach was a piece of cake even for our little ones. Clean beach and clean home with plenty of tables and chairs (including beach chairs) to comfortably accommodate all of us. Nice large backyard where we could play bags, hoops, toss frisbees, etc. Joanne is an ideal hostess! Thank you for providing a perfect family home to enjoy all week long!

Wonderful property for a family gathering.

Excellent facility for a multi-generational family gathering. Beautiful home with great space inside and outdoors. Close to lots of fun activities and good restaurants. Host was easy to work with and all instructions were clear. Thanks for a nice relaxing experience.
