We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was perfect for using the fire pit and we enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere. The house has a lot of character and charm.
We had a wonderful stay at the Davis house. The location is terrific and being welcomed with homemade margarita supplies and a fully stocked fridge was sublime. We were grateful to the Davisâ for letting us use their home for a bit of an extended stay, but we also felt bad for the inconvenience of them being out of their house for that long. Our dogs loved the backyard, and the countless books and decorations leant a very Austin feel to the home.
Loved this property and Owners attentiveness, details and suggestions for a comfortable stay. Home was decorated perfectly with an eclectic appeal. Would highly recommend and we will be coming back!
Awesome location for attending ACL Festival! We were able to walk to Zilker Park & Barton Springs. The house was cozy & had all the amenities we needed. Would definitely stay again!
Spent a wonderful weekend in this charming, hip cool vibe casita. The hosts are so welcoming and inviting. The refreshments and breakfast provided by the host is so nice. The books and music were on point for Atx. We will definitely be back it is such a great place to stay,
This was such a great home to stay in while we were in town visiting family. It was so cozy and comfortable - had everything and more than we could have possibly needed. Great location just across the river from downtown Austin and just down the street from so many great restaurants and shopping! Plenty of room for our little family of four and a great backyard to hang out in and enjoy the beautiful weather. We will definitely stay here again!
Great stay in this charming home. We have stayed here several times and are always delighted by the hospitality of the hosts who provide breakfast fixings, snacks and a margarita set up:)
The house has everything we need, a comfortable bed and a big backyard for our dogs.
We find it so relaxing and the location is near Zilker, which is perfect for walks, runs and a brisk swim.
We will be back ASAP!!
Great little house and home base for ACL. My youngest son called it an ACL themed house. Itâs evident the owners are both music lovers and cooks! They left a fully stocked fridge and all the kitchen stuff to whip up anything you could think of. Both beds weee comfortable, quality sheets and towels!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
We have stayed at a lot of rental properties, but this one stands out for having real character. The music, art, and book collections were amazing. The kitchen was well appointed and we were able to locate everything we needed to cook. We also appreciated the very nice welcoming touches. Thank you for allowing us to share your home.
The home had everything I needed and the hosts were incredibly generous with pantry and refrigerator items - all the way down to fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and breakfast taco fixings. Great old Austin / Sante Fe / West Texas vibe with decor. Comfortable beds and pillows. Fresh herbs in the garden plots. And even some hens nearby to delight you with their funny calls. Close to all the central/south Austin attractions. Great spot!
Great location in Zilker Park area and close to just about everything in the downtown area. Great restaurants within a very short drive, though a tad too far to walk. Major grocery stores about 10 minutes by car. Neighborhood is very nice and felt very safe, a mix of older and newer homes. Mostly professional people and retirees. Not many students in this area. We did some late night walking and felt very safe. House was older but clean and had a well stocked kitchen, refrigerator and complimentary margarita bar! House has a quirky Austin vibe with lots of music posters and Southwest art. Beds were comfortable. Would stay here again.
John and Kathy were gracious, generous, and responsive hosts. Their home was perfect for my wife and me as a home base for exploring the Austin area. We were able to walk to downtown, the Barton Creek greenbelt, and the Zilker Botanical Garden. All wonderful walks. The home was as presented online. The kitchen and home was well supplied with everything we needed. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful. We will return if ever in Austin again. Thank you John and Kathy!
We have stayed many times here as we come to Austin frequently. This is a comfortable house in a great neighborhood. Margaritas and breakfast tacos are always much appreciated and make for a warm welcome. Thanks again for sharing this gem with us.
Everything about this house and the hosts was absolutely perfect for our stay. The location was ideal, the house was so cool and inviting, and the hosts were unbelievably gracious and thoughtful. Would absolutely book again!
Very beautiful house. The owners left fixings for breakfast and margaritas. Easy check in and the owners were very responsive to messages. Would definitely recommend.
The house in South Austin is charming and has delights for the eye in every room.
The fenced backyard was ideal for our dog and great for relaxing in under the shady trees.
The owners are very gracious hosts and provide margarita fixings as well as the ingredients for breakfast tacos which we enjoyed immensely.
Great stay!
We had a blast at this amazing house. The house is cozy, comfortable, and feels surprisingly large. The backyard is huge and set up nicely with multiple gatherings spaces. The real benefit of this house is the decor and warmth provided by the owners. They provide fare including margaritas and breakfast tacos, and the decor and book collection make you feel as though you're on an adventure even when you are just chillin' in a nice Austin vibe house. I highly recommend this place and would happily stay hear whenever I come back to Austin.
We loved staying in this charming home, full of beautiful art, interesting books and music.
Our Austin weekend was enriched by the experience from of staying in this great little house. We cooked, read and listened to music to our heartsâ content and had relatives and friends over to eat and play games. Our dogs loved the big backyard. It was a little cold and wet to check out the fire pit, but we enjoyed the indoor fireplace. Weâll be back for sure!
We had a lovely stay, enjoying the comfort & charm of this beautiful home. The art work is interesting, the little lights strung in the garden are pretty, and there are so many cool books I wanted time to read them all. A comfy bed, full kitchen & host provided delicious breakfast & fixings for margaritas! Pretty perfect stay for my daughterâs wedding weekend:)
I'm a longtime Austinite who is a journalist and author. My beat over the years has covered the Austin and Texas music scenes, the local people and culture, and Texas and the Southwest. My wife is an attorney whose cousin, singer/songwriter Rosie Flores, introduced us. Both of us love art, music and cooking. We also love Austin and enjoy showing it off to friends and visitors.
Our house is wonderfully close to so many of the things that make Austin unique and desirable--Barton Springs Pool, Lady Bird Lake and its hike-and-bike trail, the vibrant downtown, and South Congress (aka SoCo), with its eclectic array of great shopping, good eating and live music. Austin has lots of great neighborhoods, but we like ours best.
Though the house was built in 1955 and still shows Mid-Century-Mod features, we both have a longstanding love affair with Santa Fe and the Southwest, and our decor reflects that. We have an extensive collection of books, many centered around Texas and New Mexico, and we are fortunate enough to have many pieces of original art. Guests tell us they "feel at home" when they are here, and that's what we strive for. It's not Instagram bait, but it is comfortable and personal and reflects the owners.
