Excellent communication with hosts, even told us it would be ready early if needed. The check in/out hours of 5pm (in) and 2 pm (out) are unusual, but maybe it's different in ski country!?The house was easy to find, plenty of parking, plenty of beds and space in the living room, and walking distance to restaurants, downtown, etc.(Hint: Goodmans wood fire Pizza was delicious, but order early!)And I love a place that's pet friendly!!
This is an extremely dog friendly property. The kitchen was very well-equipped. The beds were comfortable. Itâs a quiet street and very walkable. Itâs on the second floor and there are steep stairs, which challenged our old doggie. The end of the hall, where bedrooms are located (and the room with two sets of bunk beds), is quite tight. Positives outweighed the negatives.
We had a wonderful stay at this property on fall foliage tour along Route 100. While the decor could use some updating, the affordability and location more than make up for it. It's conveniently located in a charming neighborhood - making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Being big-dog friendly was our number one bonus. The space was clean, and the beds were comfortable, and we had everything we needed for our stay. Donna was very responsive and welcoming. If you're looking for a property that's budget friendly, pet friendly and great location, this property may be for you!
This is our second time staying here while some of our kids are at camp. The house is clean and just as advertised. This house is a perfect home base for enjoying Ludlow and making day trips around Vermont.
Donna was great in accommodating our needs. She worked with us to arrange all the ins and outs we had during the month. The house was clean and in a great location. Filled our needs perfectly!
We enjoyed our stay and loved the location of this property. Rental had everything we needed and was clean and properly described. Great value for the price as well.
We came to Ludlow for my youngest son's wedding at Plymouth State Park, which was lovely. The apartment was perfect, beds so comfortable, the shower great, kitchen and living room very nice. We would stay for sure if ever in the area again. Also, Donna was very nice and helpful to talk with! Thank you for making our stay enjoyable!
Donna was a wonderful host!
Any question we had were promptly answered.
Ludlow is a great area in and of itself.
Great little shops and restaurants in the charming downtown. The Farmers Market on Friday is not to be missed, as well as the concerts at Jackson Gore at Okemo Mountain.
The location also allowed for easy trips to Plymouth Notch, Lake George via the Ticonderoga ferry and the fort at number 4 in New Hampshire. Many great little towns to visit including Brandon, Chester and Weston, among many others.
I would highly recommend a vacation in Ludlow with a stay at Donna's property.
Great weekend in Vermont. great location just off the main drag in Ludlow. Several really nice restaruants/bars within walking distance. Okemo is just down the road. There is a grocery store in town, a couple of gas stations, 7-11, several coffee shops, and a few other shops sprinkled in.
The house had three fulls beds and two twins. All beds were in one room except for the one full bed in the master bedroom. It was basically clean with a little residual leftovers from previous customers (their pillows had someone else hair on them and some kitchen/dining surfaces had some build up in the corners/edges. It is right on the Black River, with a partial view of Okemo overlooking the town. Would stay there again primarily due to the location.
Very nice home would have enjoyed staying but there is only AC in 2 bedrooms and are insufficient to cool home. Yes it was during a heatwave but the AC wasnt even turned on B4 we arrived. The apartment felt like a sauna. The owner did offer alternatives but we felt it was in our best interest to leave.
Great experience, just what we were looking for! Will be back!
I travel up from Florida to Vermont each summer while my 4 children spend their summer with their dad. This year we stayed in quaint Ludlow, in this 3bedroom unit close to town.
We enjoyed the easy proximity to Buttermilk Falls and Echo Lake and also to Shaw's, for quick restocks, and Taco Taco for lunch. My kids range from 16-8 and and I felt perfectly comfortable letting them wander into town solo one afternoon while I was working.
The unit had most of what we needed to cook, and I cooked all meals except one for our 5 day stay. There was a small fire on day two, and the owners called me immediately and got someone there to check it out very quickly. They also immediately arranged to give me access to another stove on the property and reminded me about the outside grill access.
We used the board games and smart TV in the evenjngs and the kids loved the bunk room! Other vacationers used the front porch often, and it was nice to chat with them and meet their dog. I also appreciated that we could have brought our dog. Didn't because the drive was so long, but nice to find a pet-friendly place that is still clean and quaint.
We would definitely stay here again if it's available next year!
Thanks for a great stay!
Kim and kids!
Overall good place to stay. The only complaint we had was there were no queen size beds. Nothing to be done about it, so we did not bother the owners about it. Would stay here again, as it was really close to my Vermont family.
The reason for the need for a vacation rental was a sad one, but it was perfect for our family to be able to have use of while we were there. It really was like being home. Grocery store and places to eat close by. Welcome respite. Loved sitting on the porch.
I really enjoyed my stay at this property. David and Donna were very welcoming and David was a wealth of local knowledge, letting me know of many things to see and do nearby. You can walk to main street in 5 minutes where there are many restaurants and shops. The unit was equipped with everything you would need for a long term stay. The old house has a lot of charm and sits on a river just behind the house. I would definitely stay here again.
We stayed here with our 4yr old while our two older kids were at a nearby camp. This was a great home base for us. Simple and clean 2 bedroom unit. Easy walking distance into town to various restaurants. It was also an easy drive to summer activities at Okemo and Killington. Owners were staying in the upstairs unit while we were there and were happy to help if we had any issues or questions (like where to take a 4yr old). Hopefully we'll be back next summer.
We fell in love with this wonderful vintage house, built in 1903. It has been a labor of love since we purchased it. In keeping with it's character, we maintain it original slate roof, cedar siding and front porch. With Okemo Mountain close and the Black River in our back yard, we couldn't have found a better place for our family.
Ludlow is a charming village located at the base of Okemo Mountain. There are numerous restaurants and stores within walking distance of the house. Located in a wonderful neighborhood on Pleasant Street, our property backs up to the Black River. Located on the Okemo shuttle.
Our house was featured in an article with picture of the 1911 Firemen's Parade as it made it's way down Pleasant Street. This can be found at the Black River Museum which is also within walking distance.
