I stayed here for the labor day weekend with my fiance and some friends. The heated pool was the highlight of our trip. Marcus, the host, was responsive & very helpful. The kitchen is well equipped, has everything you may require, including grilling equipment for the charcoal grill outside. There is a big enough table & some chairs at the back for 6 people to sit which makes for a good grilling & eating spot. There is some lawn space on the side & front of the house where you can also picnic and look at the horse & cow across the street.
However, the house on the inside needs upgrades. There are 4 bedrooms (all upstairs), but only 2 are big enough for a couple, and 3 of 4 have no dresser/closet space. There are 2 bathrooms, but only one of them has a shower. The other bathroom upstairs has only a tub - so we ended up using only one bathroom for bathing. When we checked in, the house had a musty smell. That is understandable on the countryside and given the time of the year, but when we started opening the windows we realized the window frames don't have any fitted screens. There are self-made screens available throughout the house which you have to manually fit yourself in the frames if you want fresh air. Since the house is quite old, not each window frame is well oiled & smooth - so this takes a bit of time & effort. The front porch could do with some painting & carpentry work and the overall furniture, bolts & locks are outdated as well
Lastly, the house is at least 20 mins away from the nearest store (which closes at 5 PM) so you will have to plan ahead and arrive with all paper & food products for your stay. This is an old 19th century house and has a charming feel about it, but you have to be prepared for it.
