We had the absolute best time! There is so much nature to enjoy, it's quiet and low key, but close to a few local restaurants and so many fun places to explore! Having the pool steps away was so nice in the evenings. We saw lots of crabs and and sting rays on the beach.
Our family was enthralled with this beautiful house. It was spotless, quiet and gorgeously decorated so we felt as if we were in a museum. We look forward to staying at this property again next summer. Thank you!
I felt it was excessive to charge additional fees per car. It was an extra $100 for two other cars for a total of 9days when there was plenty of room to park. Otherwise, very relaxing and enjoyable.
We had a relaxing week on Nautical Way.
Pros: plenty of room for 3 generations to spend time together but still have private space, well stocked kitchen, quiet neighborhood, plenty of room to park, a great hose for rinsing off sand at the end of the day, the marsh behind the house was gorgeous, close to Hunting Island and all for a fair price.
Cons: this property could use some cosmetic updates (master bed was sloped, the carpet in the master was rough on your feet, water damage on ceiling, the back porch had multiple bad boards with nails showing, the front steps need replaced), it would be helpful to label the light switches (because there are a lot), the light in the inside stairway was useless and if you are allowed 3 cars you should not have to pay extra for 2.
With that being said, everyone in our group agreed that the house was perfect for us and they would come back again.
The house was amazing and beautiful. The beach and pool were both in easy walking distance and the marsh was right outside the back of the house. I only had two negatives. The first was that the house was not very toddler friendly. There were lots of outlets without covers and heavy lamps that could be pulled off the end tables. The other was that there are no restaurants really close by. Neither of those things was a huge drawback though and the positives definitely outweighed the negatives. My kids have already requested that we go back again next year and I think it may become a family tradition.
Les points faibles : Communication, emplacement, exactitude de lâannonce
Disappointing.
When we first found this property I was very excited. Based on the pics, the house looked clean, had nice furnishings and was described as being close to the pool, near the beach and on the marsh.
We proceeded to book and chose to split the payment. The first transaction was smooth through the VRBO website. When it came time to pay the remaining balance I wanted to pay it a little earlier than the deadline. I reached out (as directed by a VROB rep) to Tidal Watch Vacations. While on the phone with them I was notified there would be charge âcard processing feeâ of $75. When I questioned this, the lady explained she didnât know why it was so much and that the owner made those decisions. I proceeded and paid the balance in full. Later after thinking about the situation, I called and spoke with a VROB rep that agreed with me. TWV did not disclose this info originally and it did not meet VROBâs guidelines. The VRBO rep then reached out on my behalf to TWV. I was refunded within a few daysâŠ
With our trip soon approaching I again reached out to TWV to ensure everything was good to go. While on the phone I mentioned bringing our personal golf cart. It was only then I was notified that personal golf carts are not allowed on to the island and that most houses come with with one for the week but this house did not. I was VERY disappointed that this information WAS NOT included in the listing. I then proceeded to ask about distances to the beach access and pool from the house. I was told the beach was âa football field and a halfâ away and the pool was across the street.
Once we checked in we soon realized neither of those statements were true. The community pool was roughly 5 houses away and is NOT the pool pictured. As for the beach, it was SO FAR. Getting to the beach access was not a bad walk at all but the board walk down to the beach was incredibly long. Easily10 minutes. Once at the end of the wood, you then have to walk about 150 yards through loose, thick sand to even get to the beach. We are a pretty young and active family but this was too much, especially when you have all the things needed for a day at the beach.
Iâd also like to share that this house is currently for sale. While on our vacation, that we paid for, we were contacted by TWV to see if we would accommodate an agent. We of course agreed because weâre nice people but it shouldnât of happened to begin with.
The house is fine. TWV is not.
Wonderful spot on Harbor Island. Perfect for the family and kids. Quiet neighborhood that was perfect for riding bikes, running, and walking to and from the pool and beach. Looking forward to our next visit!
Home was beautiful, spacious and clean! A very short walk to the beach that was breath taking and non-populated. Because of the corona virus some amenities were by reservation but with all the near by scenic locations and time at the beach we honestly never had time for them anyway. The entire family had a wonderful time! We hope to be back soon!
Very well appointed house. Well stocked kitchen. If I hand one complaint it would be the insane amount of light switches that we didn't know what they controlled. Would stay here again!
We loved Harbor Island!!! What a hidden gem! The house was perfect for our family! We had a very relaxing week! Beach was absolutely perfect for small children and not to mention beautiful and an easy 10 minute walk. It was a wonderful week we will definitely be back!!
Perfect beach location for a quiet family vacation. Exactly what we were looking for - location, aesthetics, nature, peaceful, secluded & quiet. The house is lovely all around with a private deck, marsh views, & a short walk to the beach. This area is remote enough for privacy, with day trips to Charleston &/or Savannah only an hour or so away. We brought & used binoculars to better view the marsh/island wildlife & views from the Hunting Island lighthouse. There's really good seafood all around this low country area. We ate at Dockside (yummy,) but mostly utilized the nicely equipped kitchen. House is nicely appointed; There's even a little "hang out" area in the semi-enclosed carport area under the house. (Still room to park 3 vehicles.) The photos do not do this cozy home justice. We will be coming back again!
This property is amazing! We spent Motherâs Day Weekend here with a 3 year old and a 3 month old. The neighborhood is so quiet and the views are amazing. The beach access is a short walk but itâs not bad at all. We got to see alligators, all sorts of marine life, lots of different types of birds, turtle nesting sites and even a family of raccoons! We visited Hunting Island State Park and it is the best little hidden gem. We highly recommend this precious little home!
We had a great weekend away! First time here and we will be back. Some of the housekeeping seemed to be lacking. The dishwasher was full and towels in the dryer.
The location was fantastic and over all the house was good. A few things could have made it much more enjoyable. The ratan floor coverings are terrible on bare feet. The TV is archaic and abysmal to watch. Although it meant we basically didn't watch any, it would have been nice to have in the evening. It would have been nice also have some basic cleaning supplies on hand as we were there with children and they create mess naturally. The basket seemed to be missing in the coffee maker, so it made terrible coffee. There was one day where the landscaping crew came and took over the yard and driveway for almost the whole day. That seems strange given that no one had given us any notification of it. It was also strange that someone went into the garage and took our garbage out, again without any notification. Would have been happy to take it to the curb. It felt somewhat invasive! Finally, we tried to replace the inner tube on one of the bikes, but it popped again. There must be something wrong with the rim? Overall, it is a beautiful setting and we are glad to have visited.
We drove 17+ hours straight through from Northern Illinois to St. Helena Island and start our Spring Break Vacay. Happy that we made the choice to stay in South Carolina on Harbor Island and drive all night to arrive to a beautiful ocean retreat. Harbor Island was so relaxing, very chill beach vibe with so much wild life to learn about and explore. We met so many friendly locals that spilled the hidden gems of the area. We spent 3 days at Hunting Island State Park....exploring the trails, beach and viewed the damage hurricane Matthew did to this beautiful island. Our family climbed Hunting light house then wandered through the historical property. We enjoyed the fresh caught seafood at all the local restaurants. Walked the beach at Harbor Island Resort and Hunting Island while collecting many seashells. Visited Gallah Grub, viewed the artwork, enjoyed the yum yum grub.... Took a tour of Penn Center and we did so much more. This family Spring Break will always be one we will cherish and hold on to all the memories.
When my Father was young, he lived in the same neighborhood as his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Grandparents. In these modern times it is difficult for our scattered families to have that together time. That is why Harbor Island was so wonderful. We rented three houses on Nautical Watch Way and one Condo in Cedar Reef Villas across the street. All four properties were well kept and comfortable. All the owners and property managers were pleasant to work with and helpful. But most important of all, the family had a fantastic time together. We had a total of 39 family members who live in five different states and having these properties so close together allowed us to for a week recreate the close family togetherness that my Father knew in his boyhood.
The children loved the beach and swimming pools. We generally would cook in the condo or kitchens in the other houses and then gather for our family meal in one of the houses. Everything was so convenient that we rarely left the island. Everyone was in agreement that this was the best family vacation ever. So from the Bresowar, LeBlanc, Mikan, Mills, Sellers, and Zanco families thank you for a GREAT time!
