While the host did resolve the problem in the end & refund our stay, this was certainly a poor and stressful experience. We were attending a wedding, I booked over a month in advance, host & I spoke multiple times about the booking & it was confirmed. When we arrived 1 hour before the wedding to get ready & attempted to check in at our check-in time, we found out that the host had double booked the place? Her friends were there? Not sure but she had totally forgotten about our stay and we could not even access the property. She even tried to tell us that we had cancelled our stay! Which we had not - it was live on VRBO and she had nowhere for us to go. After us cramming into a friendâs place to get ready and barely making it to the wedding on time, 4 hours of calling and texting her (we had to pursue her to keep the ball rolling it seemed) and much back and forth about putting us in another place (everything was booked because of the wedding) â finally during the wedding reception the host told us we could stay at our original booking. So yes, we had a place to sleep, and appropriately, it was free. We were thankful for that. But the chaos and stress made our day much more stressful. Location of place was good. Beds & pillows were very firm - sink was clogged - likely cleaned in a rush given the circumstances. My advice would be to confirm your stay w the host more than once, including a day or two before your actual arrival/checkin!
