À propos de cet hébergement
Beach-chic | Palm Springs design | Close to beach
Summary:
Take up the fine art of daydreaming at “The Sun,” one of two units at the Swell House. If an easy-breezy minimalist design with a boho twist is the kind of aesthetic that makes you swoon, you’ll love staying here and soaking in everything this beachside town offers. In only 1-2 hours, you can escape the city to a historic beach bungalow just a 5-8 minute walk from the beach strip, but be warned you may never want to leave after seeing the private resort-style backyard.
The Space:
Ready for a romantic getaway or a stylish home to explore the beauty and attractions of Norfolk County?
Then, welcome to The Sun.
This home is the kind of place where shirts and shoes are optional, and the everyday pressures of life seemingly melt away. To match the simplicity and beauty of its natural surroundings, we decorated this quaint little beach home with a minimalistic boho theme, evoking the aesthetic of Palm Springs iconic style.
Living Spaces:
Every detail was curated to make this space a place where you have no choice but to “kick back and relax.”
Upon entering the living room, there are three things you’ll want to make this room as enjoyable as it was designed to be:
1. Your cutest vacay outfit (linen, anyone?)
2. Barefeet
3. A delicious cocktail (…….and maybe throw on a bit of moody Jazz for good measure)
Whether the sun is shining or it’s raining outside, the large comfy sectional in this peaceful space will tempt you to either cuddle, read a book or take a nap (…in our opinion, why choose? You’re on vacation, right?! Do all three).
Additionally, you’ll love spending time relaxing here because of the gorgeous hardwood floors and the bright open feeling you get from the height of the 10ft ceilings.
Staying with us in the cooler months? You’ll love that this room also has a gas fireplace with all the nostalgia of the good ‘ole days, perfect for spending nights tucked up by the fire with a hot cocoa, a movie or even better yet, some slow jams and whatever else comes to mind.
Bedrooms:
Less is more, and the interior design of both bedrooms proves that stripped-down simplicity can not only feel extraordinarily peaceful but luxurious at the same time.
The master and the secondary bedroom are calming and relaxing spaces with premium linens and top-of-the-line Canadian-made Endy mattresses known for keeping you cool and providing incredible support while you sleep.
Details:
- Master Bedroom - Queen-size bed with two wall sconces for reading at night and a reading corner for catching up on your emails.
- Second Bedroom - Double-sized bed in a smaller room off the living space with a cute little hanging plant, a mirror and soft pink touches to give the room some interest.
- Sleeps up to 4 guests, including children
Bathrooms:
Wash your cares, and the sand between your toes away in this gorgeous ’70s bathroom painted white with a pink tiled feature wall and a breathtaking custom retro globe light fixture.
This whole room is a mid-century modern dream that’ll make you wish you could copy + paste it at home.
We also provide a decadent line of body soap and toiletries to make your morning routine that much more luxurious.
Sleek Minimalist Kitchen:
A beach getaway with the kids or your fave human means you’ll need a place to prepare snacks and meals when you aren’t dining at one of the many delicious restaurants on the strip.
This fully modern and updated kitchen has everything you need to chop up some fresh veggies and fruit you may have picked up at The Port Dover Farmers Market.
If you’re wondering what items you’ll need to pack, don’t worry about bringing along any kitchen tools; we’ve got you covered with all the gadgets you need to prepare a meal easily. After all, we know you’ll want to spend as much time as possible exploring and relaxing instead of working away in the kitchen.
Are you a coffee addict? If so, we’ve got your back. The kitchen is equipped with a Keurig coffee station and pods, a french press, coffee grounds and everything you need for a cup of tea.
Dining Space:
The dining space is a treat with a beautiful white tulip table and seating for 4 under a white globe chandelier that lends to the light and airy feeling of the entire home. But if you prefer to eat outside, there’s a fun pastel pink, seashell vintage style outdoor dining table with room for 4. You’ll love starting your day out here with a cup of coffee or gathering around the table in the evening under the stars with your favourite bottle of vino to chat the night away.
Outdoor Space:
A home this charming with over 100 years of history in such a quaint town needed to be restored with care, and that’s what you’ll see from the moment you arrive. The home's bright white exterior, neatly kept grounds, and a beachy resort-style backyard oasis are everything you’d want in a cottage-chic getaway.
In the backyard, you’ll find a fantastic deck with ample seating for outdoor dining and a bbq for honing your skills as a grill master. But the real piece de resistance is the beautiful sandy and treed oasis we’ve created with an outdoor shower, lounge chairs, and a hammock for naps under the trees.
If you’re a writer, artist or the creative type, you’ll love sitting out here, under the trees with your favourite drink, to dream up your next masterpiece or to let the kids play while you do a little imagining of your own.
Guest Access:
Electronic locks will allow you the convenience of keyless check-in, with codes provided on the day of your reservation.
The Neighborhood:
It’s proven that a change of scenery can boost your productivity, enhance a relationship and provide kids with a sense of wonder and curiosity that they can lose in the monotony of a day-to-day routine.
With that said, we know you’ll love exploring the lovely little beachside town of Port Dover, located on the shores of Lake Erie and everything that Norfolk County offers tourists and locals who’ve settled in this peaceful little part of the world.
Reasons why Port Dover has become a popular destination for couples and families alike in the GTA, are:
The beach (only a 5-10 minute walk from our front door) - Port Dover is known for its resort town vibes. The beautiful manicured sandy beach is a fantastic place to settle in and soak up the sun or take a romantic stroll along the boardwalk, stopping off for a cocktail and shopping in the unique boutiques.
The downtown strip - We may be a small town, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have a plethora of dining choices, from swanky restaurants to The Mule, a famous taco joint from Hamilton that’s just opened.
Watersports - While in town, make the most of Lake Erie by renting a paddle board, Sea-Doo or fishing boat. A day on the water is good for the soul.
Lynn Valley Trail and Falls - Hiking in Norfolk County is beautiful. We recommend taking advantage of the Lynn Valley Trail and seeing the falls along the way.
Festivals - Port Dover and Norfolk County host many festivals, but one that has a huge draw each year is the PD13 Motorcycle rally, recurring every Friday, the 13th. If you’re a motorcycle enthusiast or just love a good time, you won’t want to miss it.
Getting Around:
Getting here is a breeze. We’re located only 2 hours from downtown Toronto (50 minutes from Hamilton), making us the ideal place for an easy getaway. We recommend coming by car, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you can arrive by bike if you hit the trails from Hamilton to Brantford to Port Dover.
Once here, you can ditch your car and take advantage of how walkable our location is to the strip and the beach. But for errands or touring around the countryside, you’ll want to use your car or take advantage of the taxi and car-sharing services.
Other Things to Note:
Details to help your stay run smooth:
For your peace of mind, the property is equipped with exterior cameras, noise monitors, and signal detection to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our property for all our guests.
The Sun accommodates a maximum of 4 guests, including children (please note the suite is not childproof).
The Sun is a unique 100-year-old historic home, and with all its charm and age may come some quirks, creaks, and noises.
Please remember you are staying in a house, not a hotel. Please treat the space and neighbours with respect. If any problems arise, we will do our best to take action ASAP, but there is no one living on-site 24/7.
No unapproved guests or parties. This is a ZERO tolerance policy; if broken, you will be asked to leave. There is a security camera on-site, and we are able to see if people outside your group are visiting the home. This will result in an IMMEDIATE cancellation of your reservation with NO refund.
Noise Policy: Noise level MUST BE MINIMAL after 10 PM. There is a noise level city ordinance, and we can’t have any complaints. Violation of the noise/party rule will result in the police being called, termination of your reservation, and the security deposit retained. It is super important that we respect the peace of the community.
Because of the beautiful hardwood flooring, we ask that you do not wear shoes throughout the house.
The property is not suitable for pets
We have a no-smoking policy.
Check-in is anytime after 4 PM.
Check out by 10 AM
