An absolutely beautiful panoramic view can be enjoyed from almost every inch of this cottage, which is perched on a low rocky ledge right on the water. From the back porch, living room, dining room and bedrooms, we could watch seals pursuing schools of fish and listen to loons, lapping waves, occasional lobster boats passing by. Bald eagles were spotted perching in the trees beside the house. There is a small pebbly beach on the property from which we fished and skipped stones and admired seaweed. The house has a simple, quirky, rambling old-fashioned character that we lovedâ but others should be warned that if youâre looking for plush or luxurious accommodations, this might not be the place for you. The rooms are fairly spare, and the kitchen and bathrooms are functional but old-fashioned and very basic. This was just fine for us and was far outweighed by scenery and charm. Blue Hill, a few minutes drive away, is a very nice town with several very good restaurants, shops, hiking trails, etc. and there are many other beautiful and interesting places a short day trip away, including Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The host was attentive and communicative; check-in and checkout were smooth.
