I booked a two-room unit through Expedia, but upon arrival, we discovered there were no two-room units available at all. Confused, we sought help at a busy pizza restaurant in front of the building, which appeared to function as the makeshift check-in desk.
The manager reviewed a handwritten list of names and prices and said, âWe werenât expecting you,â then gave us a key to a much smaller, one-room unit. Attempts to contact the owner through Vrbo messaging (as instructed) went unanswered. Eventually, the manager reached the owner by phone, but we were offered no real solution. When I requested a refund, I was told I could cancelâbut would not receive a full refund. Given the lack of response, itâs doubtful the owner would have refunded even his portion of the cost.
To make matters worse, a staff member casually mentioned, âThis happens quite often,â which was alarming. The unit did not match what was advertisedâit lacked proper space and amenitiesâand we ended up booking rooms elsewhere to accommodate our needs.
This experience fell far short of the standards I expect from Expedia. I urge future travelers to double-check listings and read reviews thoroughly before booking here.
