Great time in Belize

Conrad (owner) and Camille (caretaker) could not have been more attentive or responsive to our needs as we stayed at the Casa Nirvana property during our recent trip to Belize. It was a pleasure working with them both.

Casa Nirvana

Quiet neighborhood right on the Caribbean. Access by the old road right along the beach, confusing at night in the beginning.. Close to restaurants by golf cart. Boats can pick you up at the dock nearby for fishing, snorkeling etc. Accommodations were great for six adults. Really ideal for decompression, away from the bustle of downtown San Pedro. We had a fantastic week.

Great location

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Nirvana. We only utilized the upstairs unit as there were only 2 of us and the unit was very spacious with a nice sized bedroom and bathroom. The only downside was the smell from the shower when the water was turned on. We did notify Camille, the friendly caretaker, at check-out so hopefully the issue was taken care of. Other than that minor issue, we loved the location, great bonefishing right out front of the unit.

Great Summer Belize Vacation Stay

We had a great time staying at Casa Nirvana. The house is located on the north part of Ambergris Caye right on the ocean. It couldn't be any closer to the road to Secret Beach. Property Manager/Concierge Armando was great, taking care of all our reservation requests. He even came up early to help us get the kayaks/paddle boards out of the storage area and into the water. He then stayed to make sure we got back in and put them away for us. Numerous beach bars and restaurants a quick golf cart ride away. We loved Tipsy Lobster around the corner from the house and Bamboo Fence bar at Secret Beach. We dove with White Sands divers, who were fabulous and picked us up at a nearby dock. The marine parks were beautiful.

A Perfect Vacation

I stayed at Nirvana House in late July with my wife and two teenagers. The house has plenty of room. It's clean with plenty of amenities - wifi, cable TV, etc. There is an awesome view. It's nice to just sit on the porch and take in the island breeze and sunset, but there's plenty to do in and around Ambergris Caye and the mainland. Daniel has amazing people that will take care you. The caretaker, Sam, is always available if you need help. Genie of Coral Divers arranged all of our tours. Genie, his brother Chris and Joel (mainland tours) were simply great. Good people and great tour guides. The end result of all of these nice people working together was a perfect family vacation.

Definitely nirvana

We had a fantastic time at cash nirvana. We have stayed in San pedro before, so we were familiar with the island, and the house is Ina great location, especially now that the road is being constructed. Beautiful waters right out the front door. The kayaks made accessing the reef easy, which made it feel like we had our own personal reef. There were no problems with the house, the upstairs view is definitely the highlight. Sam the housekeeper is a great help for whatever you might need and is right down the beach. Also there is a boat/snorkel/scuba operator north of the house that were amazing. They were fun, knowledgeable, and very affordable. Highly recommend

Wonderful time in Belize

We really liked our stay at Casa Nirvana. As everyone mentioned, Conrad is a fantastic property owner. He provides you with so much helpful information, especially if you've never been to the island. The trip to/from San Pedro airport to Casa Nirvana was a breeze (thanks to his awesome Taxi guy). Lucette is amazing as well. She was super nice, friendly, and willing to help us out with whatever we needed. The house is in a fairly secluded location, very clean, golf cart provided, cooking/drinking water provided, great AC, reliable Wi-Fi. We already expected the sargassum issue that others noted so it wasn't a surprise. There is absolutely nothing anyone can easily do about this so it was not a big deal to us. Couple Tips: bring or purchase bug spray if you plan to walk up and down the beaches, eat/drink at Tipsy Lobster and Moon Bar. There are a ton of other great restaurants, but these 2 are pretty close to the house.

Seeing is Belizing!

Another trip to San Pedro, Belize, did not disappoint! Casa Nirvana was a beautiful oasis for our group to experience life as an islander when staying put and close enough to jump on our golf cart and explore the nearby restaraunts and bars of downtown San Pedro. The hospitality of the management made it easy and comfortable for us to slide right into island life. They were happy to help us plan our week with suggestions and bookings with superb fishing and snorkling guides as well as an in house chef who provided the culinary expertise of their wonderful island cuisine. We loved spending the mornings sipping our coffee on the porch watching and hearing the gentle waves and life taking place on the water in front of us. The beautiful palm trees provided much needed shade and kept us feeling like we were in a jungle paradise. As we felt the urge, we found ourselves feeling the sand between our toes when we meandered our way to the chairs closer to the water or even a walk along the waterline. As I am a seashell collector, I loved being able to get my feet in the water and walk along the shore to see what beachcombing had in store for me that day. I must say one of the best places to enjoy a relaxing vacation while also feeling immersed in the local culture.

quiet retreat

Conrad and Armando are great, very responsive and committed to providing a great experience. The house is on the beach about equidistant from Secret Beach and "the Bridge," probably slightly closer to Secret Beach - so a little off the beaten path, in a quiet row of beachfront rentals (between an empty lot and a house that is set back, so you don't really have neighbors). There is a path in front so you will see a few walkers as well as the guy selling breakfast burritos each morning. Tipsy Lobster and Truck Stop, among others, are a very short ride away on the included golf cart. Unfortunately, during our stay this side of the island was subject to unusually strong winds which brought lots of seagrass so we weren't able enjoy the beach, or the rooftop lounge, as much as we hoped. Inside, the house is spacious and clean and equipped with towels and fresh water and ice cold A/C. Plenty of good space for the 5 of us to play cards or watch a movie. If you plan to take advantage of the full kitchen(s), don't forget basics like salt/pepper. If we were to suggest any improvements, we would start with upgrading the beds and mattresses and updating the shower fixtures.

Wonderful Clean and Well Equipped Home A+++

I was recently able to escape with my family for a quick vacation and decided on this home. I had read a previous review that was pretty negative, right before my stay, but after reading all the reviews, I found Casa Nirvana has been one of the highest rated homes on the island for a number of years, so I booked. I am so glad that we did, the home was in the perfect location for my family, close to everything, beautiful and relaxing, but not in the crazy busy part of town. Also, it is close to the famous “Secret Beach” and walking distance to a variety places to eat. The house has large comfortable rooms and is well maintained. It was very clean, and I was impressed with the 2 well equipped full kitchens. The Property Manager was very helpful during our stay, arranging tours and was always immediately available for anything we needed. I talked to the owner Conrad before we arrived because it was our first time to Belize. He was also very helpful and knowledgeable about the island and the country, as he owns multiple properties in Belize. He provided tips on where to go and what to do, and made it a trip customized for us. The house came with everything we needed without extra costs, like Kayaks, fishing kayaks, and SUP boards which was a huge bonus for us. I was so impressed with not only the house, but the customer service provided by both the owner and manager, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this or any of his other properties in the future.

Very spacious and comfortable

Stayed the week of Dec. 27, 2010 - Jan. 3, 2011. The house was very large, in a great location, with beautiful views, right on the water, with lots of nearby activities and restaurants and looks exactly as pictured. We especially enjoyed the kayaking to the reef in the kayak that belongs to the house. There are 3 very large verandas with a relaxing hammock. From the top widow's walk deck you can see for miles and also see the lagoon behind the house. The dive master next door was extremely helpful and personable. He went above and beyond expectations when he took us fishing, diving, and to the mainland to see the Mayan Ruins and cave tubing for a day. He also arranged a trip to the Blue Hole for diving and snorkeling. One of the most fun things about Ambergris Caye is riding around the island in golf carts, which is the main mode of transportation. Sam, the caretaker and Geni, the dive master were very helpful in finding us a golf cart to rent because the island was very busy and full the week we were there. Some of our favorite restaurants and bars we enjoyed were the Palapa Bar, the Rendezvous, Captain Morgan's (especially for breakfast). Another favorite in the town of San Pedro is Fido's Bar and Grill, which is right on the beach with live music and great gift shops. The owner, Daniel was great about answering our questions and always very quick to respond!

Best Family trip to Belize

I visited Belize the first week in January with my wife and three college age adult children. Casa Nirvana is an awesome property in a great location and is as described, but the best part was the service. It was my families first trip to Belize and Conrad was always patient and willing to answer the many questions I had. The service Armando provided was exceptional. He met us the first day with coconut drinks and showed us all the features of the property. He helped coordinate our dive trips and his partner Lizette even made us a traditional Belizean breakfast that was delicious. We made full use of the kayaks and golf cart. We dove with White Sands and Amigos Del Mar. Both provided outstanding service picking us up from a dock near the house. Highly recommend the Blue Hole trip. Favorite restaurants: Tipsy Lobster (ask to see the crocodiles), Crocs and Palapas (on the water with lots of fish). You can walk the beach for miles. Victor rides the beach selling breakfast burritos and tamales each morning. Easy way to have breakfast. Everyone we met on Ambergris Caye was friendly and helpful. Sargassum was heavy but not a problem. Global human impact is visible in the large amount of plastic trash that drifts in to shore. Roads north of the bridge are rough with plenty of pot holes. We flew Maya to the island - they have a nice lounge area in San Pedro. BZE airport shopping worked well for souvenirs. Loved our trip. Can't wait to come back to Casa Nirvana.

Beautiful views and accommodating host!

We just wrapped a week at Casa Nirvana and enjoyed our time oh, so much! The house is just as pictured and described and has all of the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Conrad was attentive from our first interaction to our last, always offering advice on places to go and super accommodating! Susie was kind and welcoming and we knew if we needed anything, she was a phone call away. And working with Genie and his crew was easy and fun (we took a snorkeling trip with them during rough weather and Darwin and Luis were incredible; even finding my husband’s wedding ring that fell off!!). We had two younger boys who were not large enough to use the bikes, so Conrad and Susie worked to find two other bikes for us that fit our boys perfectly. They rode them around the property each morning, as well as several rides away from the house. The sea grass was a bummer (as was the accompanying smell) as we really couldn’t enjoy the water at the property, but that is outside of Conrad and Susie’s control. We experienced a few small hiccups with our stay, such as with the boat ride to the house (no life vests on the boat), we were inundated with too much information upon arrival, a dead gecko in a light fixture (my boys found this fascinating), no hot water and a leaky roof near the end of our stay, but every item was addressed immediately and both Conrad and Susie followed up on each one to ensure we were satisfied. We loved Belize and hope to make it back so we can enjoy the mainland. When we do, I plan to contact Conrad as he is trustworthy, kind, and accommodating. Thank you for helping to make our boys first trip out of the country memorable!

Disappointed

It is unfortunate that the owner did not mention that a hurricane struck Belize in 2016 causing considerable damage. As a result the property did not live up to our expectations. Several of the amenities cited by the owner either no longer exist or were not usable. We had planned several activities on the pier, which no longer exists, using the mentioned kayaks , fishing gear etc. In addition to their no longer being a pier the beach was covered with sea grass and garbage that created such a horrible smell that we didn't even want to be outside. Inside the house wasn't much better, any metal items such as faucets, the refrigerator and kitchen utensils are severely rusted. The house water had a very strong odor and a salty taste that made taking a shower unpleasant. Fortunately there was bottled water provided for drinking and cooking. The owner said there would be a phone available for making calls but the property manager told us the phones were not working and that she would try to get a replacement phone while we were there but that did not happen. We needed to use the washer and dryer but we're surprised to find wet towels and sheets in the dryer and unwashed towels in the washer, so before we could use them we needed to finish what should have been done before we arrived. After our vacation I emailed the owner to voice our dissatisfaction with the property with the intent being that he could address some of our concerns before another renter had a similar experience to ours. However what the owner did was get defensive and cite all of the awards and properties he owns and all the satisfied renters he has had. Of course none of that had anything to do with our experience and was irrelevant. He also wondered why we didn't call him while in Belize to let him know of our dissatisfaction. Remember the phone wasn't working and his phone number was nowhere to be found at the house or in any of his emails. On the good side Belize is a beautiful country, especially the jungle, and the people we meet were friendly and wonderful. I hope that this review will enlighten people to "Buyer Beware" and that you don't have the same unpleasant experience that we had.

The property was not ready for guests and so we spent days of our holiday having the issues fixed.

This property was not as advertised. We arrived in the evening, picked up and brought to the villa. The upstairs apartment is much better than the downstairs apartment. There are outside stairs to get to each unit. The bicycles were rusted and not fit to ride. They were fixed but we missed that time for our outing. Washing machine did not work and laundry area was a mess. There was no propane for stoves or BBQ, so we waited u ntill next day for propane having bought fresh seafood. We were told by caretaker not to lean on the railing on our arrival? and sure enough my son, who was recuperating from a broken leg and his girlfriend, by luck, were uninjured except for a cut after the steps to the rooftop deck gave way like dominos. Mr. McGinnis, the owner, insisted that they be fixed so we had Day and a half of hammering and sawing, even though we requested this to wait until our departure. The golf cart that came with the rental continued to break down. It was fixed many times, but the point here is again our plans were messed up. I will say Mr. McGinnis offered to return 250.00 we paid for the rental of the golf cart, but we would have rathered it work. There is also a pretty bad odor that surrounds this property. We were told it was the sea grass; however, it brought us inside a few times. . The screen door locks are very rusted thus, they do not close properly allowing the many mosquitos entrance.. We contacted Mr. McGinnis and both my husband and I were spoken to in a manner we have never been spoken to before. Mr. McGinnis was very biligerant and rude with no people skills. He told me I was on a GD beach and told my 68 year old kind physician husband to leave if he did not like it. He was impossible to talk to! He fired the caretaker while we were there. She was not informed and could not tell us even how to work the safe. Her boyfriend loaned us an outside table to eat on as the outside furniture is limited. Hammocks were not there on arrival and it took days to get them as advertised. Wharf was not as advertised, no access to water and Mr. McGinnis has an excuse for everything. We were a family of 5. My husband works abroad and we see him a few times a year. My daughter flew from west coast Canada and my son, girlfriend and I east coast Canada. We booked this property months ago. It has good air conditioning and fans. Furniture and appliances are good and kitchen equipped, but beds wobble.

We arrived a day late so we came in on Sunday. Everything was ready and set up for us. And the views are wonderful.Judy was the greatest hostess! We had a couple minor issues at the house, and she was right on top of it even on Belizen Independence Day. She had her electrician here. She does go above and beyond for her guests.

Place was nice and location was fin

Judy was super helpful and she say everything up and made the whole process great. She set up a private boat trip and massages I. Addition to communicating so great with us. The place was perfect and peaceful and the pool was great. The island was inundated by sargassum that literally was 100 yards deep and it took away from beauty of the house and the island. They said it was worse ever and I believe it. But we had a great stay and we went to Secret Beach and the water was great there.

Walk out the door beachfront access!

Loved staying at the property. Communication with the host was very seamless and very helpful. There was construction happening on a new house right next door, but the host let us know beforehand which was very appreciated so we didn't show up and get a shock. The house was comfortable. I do think an update of the images of the place are needed. It does look like they were taken at least a few years ago because a lot of things were well-used. Things like the faucets + shower heads had some rust which I am sure is from the heat + humidity. Overall I would recommend this place hands down!

Amazing property, incorrect location on the map in the listing

This property is really cool, but the location on the map in the listing is completely incorrect. It shows the house in town, south of the bridge. Is actually a solid 15 minute drive outside of town, way north of the bridge. We picked this house because of the location (we wanted to walk outside and be in the middle of bars and restaurants and this was not the case), so this was really disappointing. That being said, everything else was awesome. The sargasm was smelly sometimes, but really not a big deal. It will prevent you from wanting to get in the water on the property, but it didn't stop us from hanging out on the porch all night. With the wind you really can't smell it. I was worried, but it was really a non-issue. Communication with Cecelia was great. She was really responsive. We had issues with the golf cart one night and by morning, it was fixed. They arranged transportation for us and were very helpful. Our group was super comfortable there and we did discover cool things to do north of the bridge. :) Please note that gas stations on the island close at 8, so that put us in a bit of a bind on the last night when we needed to fill the tank.

Belize is great but stay somewhere else!!!

I know the owner can’t control Mother Nature s f the seaweed issue but when arrived the beach was covered so much we couldn’t get in the water at the house. My kids were very upset bc they were promised a house they could swim at. When I reached out to asked why werent we given a heads up I was met with a rude response of “how did we not know about it bc it’s been going on for almost 2-3 months”. A fan and light fixture were non functional and we were told someone be there the next day to work on it but no one asked us if they could come into the house while we were out fishing (the management company knew we would be gone) so apparently people waited an hour for them left. Not knowing this I checked the light to see if it was fixed and received a n electrical shock from trying. Let the management company know it wasnt fixed they said someone come the next day, still no mention of needing permission to enter the house. The next day we return from our excursion to find people waiting outside for us. They were unable to fix it said they would be back, at this point they asked if they could come in without us there. Made them aware the frig was turning on and off. They said it had to be our fault bc the frig was new, they didn’t even look at it. Since we had 5 in our group we couldn’t use the golf cart at the house, something we didn’t find out until about 3wks before the trip when I reached out to the management company with the email provided by the previous owner of the house. So be ready to spend extra on a larger golf cart. The day we left the shuttle was suppose to let follow him so we could fill up the rented cart and return it (all planned and discussed the day before) but that didn’t happen the taxi took off and when we reached the dock it was gone. Had to call and make other arrangements. House is in need of some TLC from ocean environment. I mentioned previous owner, house sold in October but all communication goes through the old owner bc it hasn’t been changed over in vrbo something to do with making sure the new owners get revenue for trips book prior to the sale and keeping the rating (old owners words not mine) For all the issues we had we were give a 100 credit back less than 4% of the cost of the rental. We will be back to belize for sure but will not stay at this house or any house owned by the new owner and will be cautious of properties ran by the management company (cmp) as well

Family Get away

We picked this property not really knowing where it was on the island. It was a great find. Outside of the busy downtown, yet close to great food and bars. We had no issues with the house and if we needed anything it was just a message away. This is only about a 10 min golf cart ride from secret beach also. Excellent location and great property. Check it out if you are heading to San Pedro! Thanks!

Quiet Location, beautiful sunrise views

Our group enjoyed the quiet and beautiful views of this VRBO location! It was great having the golf cart included so we that we could see and enjoy that side of the island. The house came with the basics and had everything we needed. The only thing I would say is that the downstairs living room chairs and porch chairs were not very comfortable. Other than that we loved it there.
