Owners are very nice and helpful. Checking in and out was a breeze. Nice place to stay with pets, close to Burt & Mullett lake if you like to fish. Overall nice place to stay.
I fell in love with Indian River, Michigan. It was nice having a spot just off the water. I was able to go kayaking. It was close enough to the Mackinac Island ferry, which I spent a day at which was a great experience. I canât wait to go back to Indian River and if the red barn is available, Iâd love to stay there again.
Great place. It was a little close to the road but for me that wasnât a problem. Great view of the River with a small park with benches just down the road
A beautiful very well maintained rental in the perfect spot for fishing both lakes.
Honestly could not ask for more.Hosts were more than gracious.
If youâre considering this rental,my highest recommendation.
Barb and Bruce are fantastic property owners. Our stay was great, over packed things we would need only to find that they had a complete setup for the kitchen. View was spectacular. Slept well. Beds were very comfortable. Will return next year !
We really enjoyed our stay here! It was extremely clean, stocked with all of the necessities, and you couldn't ask for a better spot on Indian River. Barb and Bruce were very friendly and quick to respond to any questions that we had. She even offered us some of the splits from here iris bulbs as she was gardening. We will definitely be back!
We were there for just a two-day visit and with the most part pretty satisfied with the barn and what it offered. My only disappointment was that we cannot use the fireplace and the twin bed and pillow was fairly uncomfortable. I would stay there again but next time I would take my own pillow
Owner was angry we had a 13yr old and 14yr old there alone while we ran errands. When I was called about it while at my friends and husband was running errands the owner Barbara called me yelling. The house was kept clean by the teenagers. She accused us of smoking and said the place did not smell ânormalâ. How would she know how it smelled did she go in there while the teenagers were in the house? The house smells like old smoke from fireplace but itâs OLD old furniture and old barn. So no one smoked in fact we only spent one of the six nights there at that time and had two nights left when we were asked to leave. We packed up even though we were refused two days money backâŠplaced keys in bowl in kitchen which we were told to do. Once we were picking up kids by dock in my husbands truck this woman Barbara came out blocked our truck came to my husbands door and opened it and physically put her hands on his arm and pulled screaming âwhere is the keysâ! We both said in the house in the kitchen! And had to force her off of him after she opened the door of our truck while he had it in middle of street four times. We drove away without getting the kids and came back half hour later. I got out of truck to get kids from dock and she came walking towards the kids! I told her to stay away from us. She again demanded keys in which we told her several times where they were. She got within a few feet from me and I told her to not come near me after assaulting my husband! Terrible place!
This is where I like to stay when vacationing in Indian River. It is right in the heart of Indian River on my favorite part of the river. Thanks for being great hosts once again! We had a great time.
Bruce and Barb were so nice, and have such a welcoming rental. It was exactly what we were looking for, and has everything we could have wanted. Very clean, and super charming, with a wonderful view of the river from the big front window. Would love to come again when the warm weather returns so we can sit on the dock and watch the daily parade of boats go by. The area is a perfect spot in Northern Michigan to get to the most popular spots within a 30 minute drive. Can't say enough good things about our stay!
We were very pleased with property, location and ease of communication with owners Bruce and Barb. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking, ample parking and a great dock for sitting on the river. Will be returning next summer
The property had everything my dad and I needed for a comfortable stay on a week long fishing trip. Plenty of room to park the truck and boat on the west side of the unique barn-home, with an exterior outlet to charge the batteries overnight.
Beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The kitchen had all the cookware and utensils to cook up whatever came to mind.
Out the front window is the beautiful Indian River.
Hope to make it back up to this beautiful area and would likely stay at this property again.
A very unique property across the street from the beautiful Indian River. The host was friendly and greeted us promply upon arrival, and were not at all intrusive during our visit. As former residents of Indian River, it was awesome to revisit the area. One issue is the property is very close to Prospect Street. Posted speed is 25, but actual speed can be closer to 40-50 at times. Keeping close tabs on small children would be advisable. Although we are not likely to return to Indian River again, we would recommend the property to couples.
This property has been in our family since 1964. Bruce's parents converted a barn that had been used to store and rent equipment into living quarters. They would travel up from Oak Park, MI with their four boys to work on this property on weekends.
Dock is available if you are traveling with your own boat. In addition, we are two miles from Renegade Riding Stable where riding lessons are available. The near-by public beach is shallow for a long way from shore and is great for families with small children. The deeper swimming area enjoyed by the locals is called the Green Docks and it is just 2 doors down on the river.
