Awesome place for a little getaway! Plenty of space, comfy beds, and within an hour of lots of cool places- Beulah, Frankfort, sleeping bear dunes, Manistee!
This is house is very nice. Stayed here ti kayak the Pine river, it made a nice home base. Love the vibe of the house and enjoyed sitting on front porch with morning coffee. Fire pit at night heavenly. Would definitely stay here again.
The place was beautiful! The whole house looks like it is stuck in the 70s and itâs awesome! Bed was super comfy too! Walking distance to the gas station!
This is a lovely property, very homey, comfortable and clean. Filled with antiques and fun memorabilia. We have stayed there before and intend to stay again. Definitely not a cookie cutter rental. We enjoy and use the fire pit in the backyard. We have coffee in the morning on the porch itâs a great way to start the day. We use this for a home base for kayaking the Pine river, always a great place to end the day at. Love this place!!
3 bedroom home. Unique antiques that brought back memories. We could not get the very cool 1950's oven to work but it may have been user error :) Kathleen was very responsive with all my questions.
Loved the furnishings and decor. Lots of fun items to look at, and has all the comforts of home. The washer and dryer were an added bonus after many days on the road. Beds were comfortable and a/c units work well to keep it cool. Shower has good water pressure and never ran out of hot water. Plenty of towels too. This was really a fun step back in time kind of stay. Owner is easy to reach and helpful.
Perfectly priced property allowed for day trips to Manistee, Ludington, and Frankfort. While the exterior of this home and the neighborhood reflects the lower price point, the house was immaculately clean, and much larger than expected based on the description. Loved being so close to the MRT and NCT, as we are hikers, and also many river access points for kayaking. The decor is quirky and was fun to explore the vintage finds. The host accommodated our early check-in, and reached out during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. I appreciated this price point and location to trails and rivers, and we will definitely be repeat guests!
Beautiful little house, all bedrooms decorated wonderfully. Loved the front porch, very quiet town. Made sleeping great, no noise! The stove/oven was charming. I can't wait to see future pictures changes and updates. Only suggestion we have is the couch, it sits very low( understanding it is vintage) but my husband is 6'3" and it made standing up from it a little comical. Overall, we would gladly return here and stay again. Loved it! Host was great with communication and we loved being able to meet her.
The house does need some work, but they are in the process of updating it. In fact, there have been changes to it since the photos we saw on the listing. The only problems I can see anyone having are the floor is uneven in places, namely the kitchen and bathroom, and the water pump is loud. They werenât any problem for us, but if someone is a light sleeper they may not want the room by the bathroom/kitchen. There was no sign of construction when we were there, so our stay was not interrupted or hampered in any way. The work in progress is why the cost is so low. The price was well worth the uneven floor.
We also loved the antique decorations.
Overall we weâre very pleased with ever thing overall we were very pleased with everything! Thanks for the wonderful stay!
This was our favorite rental while on vacation! The home is very neat and tidy. The rooms are spacious and clean. We were there in the middle of July, so warmer temps and the house was very comfortable. It is an older house, so there's some quirkiness to it. The old-fashioned Frigidaire flair stove takes you a step back in time. It works great and it was a lot of fun to use. *Think Bewitched!!*
There's tiny details everywhere you look.
Some downfall to this house is just because of the location. There's not much close by for a full grocery store. If I had realized that we would've picked up groceries before we checked in. It does sit very close to the road, but the road is not busy and there is a nice backyard if you have kids that want to play outside. Lots of little amenities. Outdoor games, a limited amount of spices and cooking essentials, as well as plenty of dishes and cookware. Very comfy furnishing and a big plus for me was the use of the washer and dryer. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for a place in northern Michigan. And we hope to book again in the future!
My wife and I had a great stay at the cabin. The cabin was clean and the host was always in contact with us in case we needed anything!
We would stay there again if the opportunity presented itself.
It was very quaint and cute. I loved all the old furniture in the house. We both enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Would recommend this house for future stayes.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and the property. It is a work in progress and I'm grateful we knew that beforehand. It was lovely and decorated so cute. Lots of antiques to find around the house. I love the old stove and oven! Our Hostess was very accommodating if we had questions and always got back to us immediately. It's about 14 miles to the Casino which we did every day. The only downfall, was the cell service was bad. We couldn't get enough bars to send texts, and we couldn't call anyone unless we went outside. But hey we're on vacation right? I would stay here again.
This is our second stay with this property owner. She is so accommodating and her listing is very accurate. We will be re-booking in the near future for sure!
This is the type of place that makes you think of visiting your grandparents cabin when you were a kid but with the convenience of WIFI, A/C units, washer/dryer and dishwasher!!! Our family had a great time, the kids could relax and watch a movie or have a fire with dad while I made dinner after a long day at the beach. Beautiful Lake Michigan beaches are only about 20 minutes away! Just the get away our outdoor friendly family needed!
We hope to appeal to all ages with many eras represented for the last 100 years. My daughter Michelle Shackelford from #LeelanauSpecialtyCutFlowers and I have been collecting antiques our entire lives!!! and are so excited to be able to share them with like minded people in our 100 plus year old home!! in the charming town of Brethren, MI This home is where I raised my family and than it was turned into a monthly rental with disastrous results, so since we already had another vacation rental just outside of Brethren we thought we might as well turn this into one. The vintage idea just hit me one day after looking at all the goodies we had amassed over the years.
Take a step back in time and surround your self with antiques, I am still in the process of creating an unforgettable vacation spot like you have never seen before, with my passion for antiques I have made each room a different era in a very unique and eclectic style. Washer, dryer and full kitchen, VHS player with lots of fun movies.
Our little town of Brethren is known for Tippy Dam just seven miles away Lake Eleanor right down the road and Manistee / Little River Casino, twenty minutes away. You are also within one hour from Sleeping Bear Dunes, and Traverse City MI
