Summary:
A midcentury modern gem in Little Tuscany with spectacular mountain views, that captures the essence of Palm Springs life: a seamless flow from indoors to outdoors, light filled open spaces, a "butterfly roof" and soaring ceilings, sliding glass doors from main living spaces and master bedroom to a walled courtyard and pool with multiple seating areas, 2 fire pits, a hot tub, grill, and an accent lighted natural landscape, blending the serenity of the desert with the conveniences of city life.
The Space:
Our home was completely remodeled in 2023. We call it Casa Maddelena, after our dog Maddie. Our home and our neighborhood is super dog and people friendly.
Our home is a single story, and has 1620 square feet of living space with special features including:
1. a "flex" space with a full-sized convertible sofa bed, large wardrobe, 4 flat screened smart TVs on a "media" wall with service from Direct TV, a "gym" wall equipped with resistance bands, a TRX suspension system, free weights and a weight bench. (Additional flat screen TVs are in all bedrooms and living room with Roku streaming);
2. a dedicated office space tucked into a living room corner with a floor to ceiling window framing distant mountains, a desk with an adjustable height laptop mount, a printer, good lights, high speed internet, and office supplies;
3. dog friendly accommodations including dog bowls, towels to wipe off paws at exterior doors, and a walled area at the side of the house for your dog partially covered with artificial turf, a bathing area and a grooming table. Inside you'll find a pet bed with a washable cover, doggie waste bags, doggie treats, and extra supplies specifically for pet clean-up;
4. multiple access points from the living room, master ensuite and guest ensuite leading to the courtyard, pool and inflatable hot tub;
5. accessible living with single story floor plan, accessible exterior parking and ensuite bathrooms with 2 fixed, motion sensored lighted grab bars in showers;
6. a fully stocked and equipped gourmet kitchen, a coffee bar with a Cuisinart coffee maker/bean grinder for regular coffee and a Mr. Coffee maker for decaf with a stand alone grinder, a large pantry, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops with abundant workspace, and a peninsula bar that seats 4;
7. a modern, custom designed entry and gate with a keyless entry pad, and Ring doorbell from a generous driveway partially covered with a turquoise blue sail canopy.
Little Tuscany is as charming as it is tranquil where you can enjoy a blend of the peaceful serenity of the desert and the conveniences of city life. The quiet neighborhood is nestled up again the San Jacinto Mountains off Palm Canyon Drive between Old Las Palmas and Chino Canyon in the rocky northwest corner of Palm Springs, a short distance the Palm Springs airport, from downtown, fabulous shops and restaurants, museums, art galleries, biking routes, horseback riding, golf, tennis, the Aerial Tramway, and hiking trails within walking distance of Casa Madellena's front door, including the North Lykken Trail and north trailhead.
Guest Access:
Our home is available to rent from May 1st through October 31st. We live in our Palm Springs home during winter months and in the summer we return to our home in the Pacific Northwest.
1. Per City of Palm Springs ordinances, the total number of overnight adult guests permitted is 4, a total of 8 adult guests are permitted in the daytime. 2 children 12 and under are permitted.
2. Per City of Palm Spring ordinances, registered guests must be 25 years of age or older and guests under 25 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian for the duration of your stay.
3. Per City of Palm Spring ordinances, guests must present a government issued ID to our property manager upon arrival and prior to gaining access to the property. An in-person check-in with our property manager at our home is required.
4. Check-in time is 3pm. Check-out is 11am.

The City of Palm Springs issued a Good Neighbor Brochure for Vacation Rentals, which is kept in our Vacation Guest Book on a table near our home's entry along with our City of Palm Springs Vacation Rental Registration Certificate, and our Transient Occupancy Registration Permit.
You will be asked prior to your stay at our home to agree in writing to City of Palm Springs and House Rules.
Please review the following city and house rules carefully:
1. Smoking on the premises or food in the bedrooms is not permitted.
2. Parking- Two (2) cars are permitted to park in the driveway. There is street parking. Parking is not permitted on the street where curbs are painted red. Our home's garage is not available. Please lock your car doors when parked in the driveway or on the street.
3. Trash- Trash may not be visible in public view except on designated pick-up day and in proper containers. Containers should be placed curbside on Tuesday evening for Wednesday pick-up from 5am to 8pm and removed that day after pick-up. Containers are stored on the south side of our home next to the pool equipment.
4. Pool- The pool is cleaned 2 times/week on Tuesday and Friday between 6am to 7am. Please leave the pool gate unlocked during those hours and days. The pool can't be cleaned unless the gate is unlocked. The pool pump, lights, and fountains are set on a timer. The pool and courtyard is private and exclusively for your use.
5. Pool Heater- The pool may be heated for the duration of your stay for your use and enjoyment for a fee of $75/day. This rate is negotiable for stays longer that 28 consecutive days. Please let our property manager know at booking if you would like the pool heated so he can ensure it's heated on your arrival. Poor thermostats are typically set at 83 degrees Fahrenheit; however, temperatures can vary in the desert, particularly at night, and the degree of warmth can't be guaranteed. This fee will be requested after booking confirmation and must be paid prior to your arrival.
6. Inflatable Hot Tub- The hot tub is heated continuously at no charge to you. Please cover the hot tub when not in use. The hot tub will be cleaned on the days the pool is cleaned.
7. Noise- Noise policies are strictly enforced by the City of Palm Springs. Quiet hours, per city requirements, for outside noise are from 10pm to 10am daily. If your neighbors can hear music, you are in violation of the City Noise Ordinance. The booking guest will be responsible for any and all fines incurred during their visit.
8. Parties/events- No parties or events per city ordinance are allowed. Commercial photographing and filming is not permitted.
9. Pets- Only dogs, no other pets are allowed. A maximum of one (1) dog is permitted at a non-refundable fee of $25/day for the duration of your stay. This fee will be requested after booking confirmation and must be paid prior to your arrival. Small, medium, and large breed dogs are welcome. No untrained puppies please.
10. Landscape- Exterior landscape lights and sprinklers are programmed to go on and off daily.
Yard maintenance is every Friday between 9am and 12pm. Please leave the pool gate unlocked on Fridays between those hours.
11. Safety & Security- (1) For your safety and per code, our home is equipped with hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and alarms along with an automatic sprinkler system and a prominently displayed fire extinguisher. A first air kit is also available and can be found in the laundry room; (2) For your security, our home and grounds are protected and monitored by a real-time Ring Video Doorbell with motion detection and high-definition video; and, (3) All exterior doors in our home are equipped with a voice notification mechanism and chime hardwired into the ADT security system, including the sliding doors opening to the courtyard, pool, and hot tub, which goes off when doors to the exterior are opened. The pool and hot tub are surrounded by a 6-8 foot tall stucco wall with two non-climbable, self-locking gates.
12. Accessibility- Showers are equipped with two fixed grab bars with lights that have motion sensors and our home is on one level accessible from the driveway, no stairs.
Interaction with Guests:
Once your reservation is confirmed we will send you the check in instructions as well as our Phone Number. For easiest communication we prefer to text. As soon as we have been provided with your phone number we will send you a text so that we can co-ordinate access to the home and arrange to meet with you to go over the rental rules and sign the guest registration log.
