My family and I stayed in the cabin for a week. It was wonderful. My youngest LOVED being in the water and did not want to leave.
It is rustic and full of charm.
It is a great location for seeing old friends that live around Portland and for exploring other parts of Maine.
Thank you for sharing your home with us. We had a wonderful time making lots of fond memories.
Beautiful location. Amenities were lacking. Rustic, decorating was done by a hoarder.
The location of the camp couldnât be beat. However, the amenities were lacking and decorations were not tasteful. Communication with the owner could have been better. The listing needs to be more accurate.
This place was such a wonderful find! Only 25 minutes from downtown Portland, but it feels worlds away. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the house is incredibly charming and old-fashioned. I would just warn anyone who has problems walking that there is only a bathroom on the first floor and I could imagine this stairwell being tricky for people with balance problems. However, no one in our group fell into this category and we were all in love with this place. We swam in the lake, enjoyed the hot tub, grilled, and ate every meal outside at the picnic table. All in all, an absolutely wonderful place for a getaway. Highly recommend!
A great lakefront cabin to enjoy Maine. It smells like fresh balsam fir. I love to decor. The cabin has everything you need. The lake is clear and inviting. We heard loons calling several times a day. We saw a bald eagle and an osprey. It was a very easy drive to Portland. The only complaint is the queen mattress in the master bedroom. It was way too soft. I ended up using an inflatable mattress.
I will definitely be coming back.
The area this cabin sits on is beautiful. Nice old family cabin decor. Extreme lack of general maintenance, rented in july the three small window air conditioners have to run none stop to make tolerable no chance of keeping doors and windows open overnight to hear loons and frogs, only one window has a screen, back door screen kicked out at bottom front screen door has to be forced shut. Cabin seens to be sinking in the center portion. Water toys were fun noticed a review from 2017 commenting on the broken canoe seat (still not fixed) no ropes on canoes. Side yard many 5 gallon empty gas cans strewn about. Between the rooted unlevel yard and the funky stair case with unequal risers you really got to watch your step! We made due and had fun all the same. Better rentals for the money.
Water front setting was fantastic. Lots of options for water activities. The location was ideal, close to Portland and other great towns. Cabin had plenty of space for two people and dog.
It was a lovely time by the lake, kayaking and swimming with our family, an outdoor fire in the fire pit, lunches on the picnic table overlooking the lake, dinners on the dining table overlooking the beautiful view, hearing and seeing the loons and hawks and ducks. The owner was very responsive to all our questions, and responded to texts immediately. The house was a bit musty but all things considered it was fine. We enjoyed our stay!
The location is perfect. The house is really quiet and cozy. The only problem I have is the shower. It is really old and rusted on the bottom and it needs to be replace. Other than that, the house was perfect for our stay
Nice lake house. Sleeps 5 comfortably. Kitchen has all the pots and pans needed. Says dog friendly. But neighbors complained that our dogs barked too much. Otherwise neighbors were nice.
We are from Buffalo NY and couldnât go to our cottage in Canada due to the pandemic and this beautiful location reminded us so much of our cottageâŠeven the smell of the air and the lily pads in the lake! Owners were very responsive when we sent a message with a question. Enjoyed going into Freeport one day for shopping and Portland by the beach and of course had lobster dinners every night! Loved spending time at the dock each morning with a cup of coffee.
We had a wonderful time at Highland Lake. The Camp house was just as advertised. Coffee by the lake in the morning. Fire pit and Smores at night We loved using the paddle boards and Kayaks. The neighbors were welcoming.
Property was as listed- rustic, lakefront cabin. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of dvd, games and books for indoor activities as well as kayaks and canoe for the lake.. Note there were no pfdâs for water activities. Fire pit by the water provided a welcome spot to sit on a cool evening and for roasting sâmores. . Our dog loved swimming in the lake. A little further to downtown Portland than expected- close to 30/35 mins drive- but still doable. Cabin was basically clean but could use a thorough cleaning under furniture where it was a bit dusty. Shower stall needs updating and hot water temp was low, especially noticeable on cooler days. Overall the cabin was a great place for our getaway to Maine
Off-season enjoyed the quiet. Important to know it is a three season cottage but nice propane stove. Shower a bit rustic and stairs a bit steep so folks should be aware of that. But it all worked well for us. We enjoyed our time there.
The cabin provided us a nice place to stay just outside of Portland. Enjoyed watching movies in the cozy living room and breakfast in the kitchen. Loved spending time outside reading/drinking coffee at the end of the dock, kayaking the lake and sitting at the fire.
The location is really what was amazing about this property- the lake is gorgeous, close to Portland, close to Freeport, awesome trailheads nearby. Kayaks, dock, fire pit add to the outdoor appeal at the property. Cabin is as described: rustic, but has a great TV and fireplace. We had a great stay here.
We totally enjoyed our stay at the cabin. That said, it is truly a rustic cabin which not everyone would enjoy. We basically just used it as a place to eat breakfast, then gone for the day and back at bedtime. We have done all forms of camping, so it was fine for us. Going in, we did not expect a 5 star hotel. No main floor bedroom may be a problem for some people. And as with all lake properties, it was a bit of a challenge to find. Overall though, I have to say we had a great time on our visit to Maine.
