We loved our stay. Made friends with nature. Deer visited every evening and made friends with a pair of robins and their young. Enjoyed the location in the hills. Very beautiful and quiet!
We love the Black Hills and really enjoyed our long weekend being tucked away in this charming, well-kept, and fully stocked home! It's short drive to Jenny Gulch lake if you want a quiet lake to hike, kayak, or fish. If you prefer a larger lake with more activity, the beautiful Pactola lake is a short drive away. Of course- there are many other great sights, hiking, caves, etc. within a 30-45 min drive.
This cabin was spectacular and just what our family needed!
Part of the adventure was driving to the cabin down the dirt roads deep in the beautiful forest! We were pleasantly surprised by the well taken care of cabin -inside and out. This cabin was about 30-60 min away from the activities we wanted to do each day so we made sure we planned for that and made sure to get groceries outside of Silver City since there is no grocery store there that we could find. The hot tub was clean and made our whole family happy and relaxed after days of hiking! Our kids (ages 14-6) said that their favorite part of our Black Hills trip was this cabin!!!!
Great location!! Between Sturgis, Needles Hwy, Deadwood, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and even for an excursion to Devils Tower. Final three miles to this place is loose gravel, treacherous on a bike (if coming for Sturgis and not trailered), challenging to drag a trailer the last half mile. Impossible to find in the dark (owner should leave a light on). I would not come here in winter snow without 4WD.Near zero cell service. Cabin satellite TV and satellite Internet (Wi-Fi) did not work with zero help from the owner to fix it. Left voicemail with the owner and never received a response. Given proximity to Devil's Tower, it would have been nice if Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind was in the sad collection of DVDs. I bought a BluRay version at Devils Tower, but sadly the DVD player is old school and doesn't play BluRay.Expectations to clean-up before leaving seemed excessive.Overall, recommend staying here, but need to understand limitations.
Overall, the property is as you see it in the pictures.
Positives:
The location is nice for the Black Hills, as it is an area that takes some time to work your way around the hills to all the attractions, but this property allows for under an hour travel to most things. The kitchen and property in general is well equipped as advertised. Outdoor space is what makes this property shine. The hot tub is great and clean and a real treat after a day of exploring the hills. The wooded lot is very nice.
Negatives:
The property appeared (based on the guest logbook) to have not been occupied since early September (we were in mid-late October) and therefore was a bit musty when we entered our first day. It also had a lot of flies inside as well as another bug I'm unsure what it was, slow moving like a box elder in a way. These issues just didn't give us a great vibe when we first got there. We killed the bugs and cracked windows which resolved for the most part those issues.
Some small things: the fridge is annoyingly loud, the mattresses in both guest rooms were springy and uncomfortable.
Finally, we had an odd occurrence on the last day of the owner's son entering the cabin thinking it was not rented while we were out, the odd part being he left all the doors open after leaving. Not knowing who was in there at the time, we left ASAP thinking it'd been broken into. The owner was quick to get back to our voicemail and refunded that night's stay and explained his son's mistake.
The cabin was great. The cabin was stocked very well with anything that you might need. It is a little off the beaten path, but it was quiet and a great place to spend some family time. Definitely would stay there again.
When I opened the door to Miners Cabin I said âwow itâs not very often that the actual rental is better than the pictures posted onlineâ. Our family of 5 had a wonderful time playing the yard games and relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. The kitchen was well stocked, and itâs always nice to have basic condiments (sugar, spices, coffee filters, etc.). The front and back porches were great for relaxing. The cabin is quite far from any grocery stores or restaurants, so you should plan accordingly. Be sure to check out the nearby Jennyâs Gulch- it was a hit with our kids. Overall, we had an amazing time and the cabin was wonderful!
This was off the beaten path in a quiet little rural neighborhood. Just what we wanted! The front patio and the back deck were awesome outdoor spaces for morning coffee and evening relaxation. Kitchen was well stocked! Thanks for sharing this space with others!
We should have screenshotted the directions to get into the place as you lose service on the backroads. After we found the cabin though, it was a nice, relaxing place to unwind from our busy days out. I wouldnât have wanted to make multiple trips on the roads out to the main road daily but it was perfect for our vacation plans. The hot tub was a huge hit for relaxation and warming up. It was stocked with many essentials and we didnât want for anything different. Will stay here again!
We had an absolutely amazing time. Pictures donât do this cabin justice. We had everything we needed and more! We enjoyed the hot tub, fire pit and playing games. This would be a fantastic stay in the summer. They have so many places for outside seating, dinning and relaxing.
Yea, your off the beaten path but thatâs sort of the point. Really we were close to all of the attentions - pretty center based.
We would love to come back sometime!
Fun place for two couples celebrating recent retirements. Lots of space to relax after spending the days exploring the majestic mountains, MT Rushmore, Bad Amanda, etc. Great location but be prepared tor crazy mountain roads. Truly enjoyed the mountain drive. The hot tub was so enjoyable after a day of mountain climbing. Would definitely recommend this cabin.
As expected our return to Minors cabin was excellent. This time we stayed longer so we could fully disconnect and have more family time. We will for sure be back again.
Highly recommend Minors Cabin.
We rented this cabin to enjoy spring break safely away from crowds. We were not disappointed. It is a little bit of a ride to most places to see in this area, but we found it to be pretty centrally located. We visited Custer State Park several times, Hot Springs, Wind Cave, Wall Drug, Badlands National Park and even traveled to Wyoming (we traveled through Spearfish Canyon to enjoy the scenic byway) to Devilâs Tower. My kids and I really enjoyed the hot tub at the end of every day as well as a few sunrises enjoyed while in it. If I were to visit this area again, I would definitely see if this cabin was available. The only downside was the terrible Dish service. Most channels had an âobstructedâ message. It definitely reminded me of why I ended that service at my own house.
We loved the Hills and enjoyed our stay at Miners Cabin for a long weekend. We drove an hour North one day to Spearfish Canyon, and an hour South one day to the Custer State Park area so didn't mind the central location as it was a ways to the places we wanted to visit so we planned accordingly. The cabin was not fancy or high end, but well maintained and clean. There are some cabins real close by but that didn't bother us at all as it was still very private. The manager was excellent and answered all our questions promptly.
Excellent place to stay. Loved the remoteness of it! We rode side by sides out of there every day. Excellent location in the central part of the Black Hills.
We loved everything about our stay at Minors. Aaron was quick with any questions and cabin was better than expected. We were there for five nights and wish it could have been longer. Quite, peaceful, but yet close to everything you would want to do in the Black Hills. We have been to the Black Hills in the past but this was best yet, we will be back next year and already talking about next year's trip now...LOL. whether it's a small group of friends looking to get it away from things or a large or small family would highly recommend Miners to anyone!
See You next year!!!
Very quite and relaxing location. House and hot tub was clean, well kept and in a great location for South Dakotaâs best attractions. Aaron was a fantastic host going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Would definitely stay again.
Aaron's Miners Cabin property was perfect for 3 couples. Jacuzzi with a sunrise, campfire as the sun set, and wildlife made our stay even better. Highly recommended.
