La Cazalla stands seemingly-alone in a scenic fertile valley, less than 10 minutes' drive from the historical and fascinating town of Ronda. The main house and surrounding buildings blend naturally into the landscape, having been built around the natural rock. This very private house is surrounded by stunning scenery and is available to rent all year round. Perfect for families and large groups of friends of up to 12 people looking for a holiday in the Andalucia region.
The main house was carefully and stylishly restored 20 years ago to reflect its Andalusian and Moorish history, retaining many ancient artefacts from the original farm buildings. The Casa Principal ('main house') has five spacious and airy bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, and is rented with âEl Nidoâ ('the Nest'): a private one-bedroom suite with its own entrance and courtyard.
Nearby Ronda is the perfect picturesque base from which you can explore the pretty âPueblos Blancosâ ('white villages') and some of the major cities of the Andalucian region, including CĂłrdoba, Granada, Seville and Malaga, and the resort town of Puerto Banus.
La Cazalla is fully equipped with all the comforts you would expect from a luxury villa rental, but more importantly all the extra little things that will make you feel at home. We want our guests to feel like they are staying in a secluded, private retreat where they are completely at home, but with a few of the perks of staying in an hotel â beautiful bed linen and towels, daily maid service and a gardener who takes care of the pool and the grounds.
The main house is elegant, cool and spacious, with many different areas for a large group to spread out and relax. Discover three tastefully-furnished living areas on split levels, a kitchen and a dining room, providing plenty of space for your family and friends to read, play card games, watch a film or listen to music. Sleep soundly in the six double or twin bedrooms with en suite bathrooms containing beautiful mosaic tiled walk-in showers with adjustable mood lighting. And yes, there is fast WiFi!
Outside there are so many different spots to choose from, youâll be hard-pressed deciding what to do: read in the lounge chairs on the terrace, dine under the vine-covered pergola, swim and snooze at our Roman-inspired pool, look for tadpoles in the stream, stroll along to the 12th century âalbercaâ ('water cistern'), or take a drink up to the old threshing circle and watch the sun change the colours of the gorge from orange to pink. If you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the deer as the owls start hooting.
The area around La Cazalla has barely changed since the Romans, and later the Moors, inhabited it. Once here a feeling of peace prevails: the sounds of insects buzzing, birds singing, bells jangling on goats in the forest and the breeze rustling the leaves on the trees. It is difficult to spot any other sign of human life, and yet the sense that man has lived in this valley for thousands of years is very strong.
Famous worldwide for its dramatic escarpments and views, and for the deep El Tajo gorge that carries the rio GuadalevĂn through its centre, Ronda and the area surrounding it offer a multitude of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, mountain climbing, canoeing, birding, horse riding, paragliding, tennis and, on the coast, golf.
Holy Week/Easter ('Semana Santa') transforms Ronda with elaborate decorations, parades and music. May is a beautiful month with the spring wildflowers at their best and the 'Ronda Romantica' (a historical recreation of the Royal May Fair, founded in 1509). Early summer (May/June) is the best for outdoor activities, such as hiking and cycling the many routes of the Sierra de Grazalema and Sierra de las Nieves. July and August are for exploring the narrow, shady lanes of the 'White Villages', lazing by the pool and enjoying relaxed meals outside late in to the evening. Late August and early September bring the drama of the annual flamenco festival and the 'Feria de Pedro Romero', the famous bullfighter, when the whole town join in the fiesta.
Whatever the needs of your party, please let us know, and we will do our utmost to ensure a memorable stay.
