à propos de cet hébergement
Montana's Dry Creek Hideaway
This is an off-grid cabin, not a hotel.
Hidden only 8 miles off the highway, in the Montana woods beside a flowing creek, this handcrafted log cabin is a true off-grid retreat for people who want to unplug from modern life and settle into something simpler, quieter, and real. Surrounded by aspens, snow, and wildlife, this is a place where mornings are slow, nights are dark, and nature sets the pace.
It is peaceful.
It is beautiful.
And it is not effortless luxury.
This cabin runs on sun, fire, and self-reliance. Power comes from solar (with a generator backup). Heat comes from a wood stove. The toilet is composting. Comfort here comes from understanding how off-grid living works â or being excited to learn.
Important winter note:
The shower is winterized and not available during cold months. If a daily hot shower is a deal-breaker, this is not the place for you. Many guests use no-rinse options or simply warm water on the stove for a washcloth bath â it works great and fits the off-grid rhythm just fine.
If the idea of starting a fire, managing power usage, driving a dirt road, or adapting to simple systems gives you pause, this cabin is probably not a good fit â and thatâs okay.
But if you know what âoff-gridâ means, or youâve been craving an authentic experience where modern distractions fall away, this place is magic.
Wake up to the sound of the creek just steps from the porch. Make coffee while snow drifts silently through the trees. Watch wildlife pass through the aspens. Read, nap, cook, wander, and unplug. At night, the stars are endless and the quiet is complete. Many guests say theyâve never slept better â and many never want to leave.
Please read before booking:
Access is via a dirt road; Plowed to 1/2 mile from the cabin after that AWD/4WD is strongly recommended in winter but some cars make it fine
Solar power means mindful energy use (the sun is the power source)
Guests must be comfortable operating a wood stove and generator
Composting toilet (simple, clean, and odor-free when used correctly)
No winter shower â sponge baths or no-rinse options are the norm
No hotel services, no front desk, no instant fixes â just you and the woods
This cabin is for adventurers, couples, creatives, writers, outdoors-people, and anyone craving real solitude. It is not for guests expecting hotel amenities, constant electricity, or paved roads.
If this excites you, youâre exactly who this cabin is for.

For the right guests, this isnât just a stay â
itâs an experience youâll measure everything else against.

Qui vous reçoit ?
Vous ĂȘtes reçu par John Cassidy
Iâm a fourth-generation Montana local who believes some of the best experiences come from slowing down and realizing that when weâre most uncomfortable, itâs sometimes exactly where weâre meant to be. From there, everything opens back up â especially our connection to nature. This cabin was built as a place to unplug, live simply, and remember how my Montana is supposed to feel.
I love hosting guests who are curious, capable, and excited about experiencing Montana and off-grid living â people who appreciate dark skies, crackling fires, and the satisfaction that comes from doing things a little differently. This isnât about luxury; itâs about presence, self-reliance, and respecting the land.
My goal as a host is simple: to share a special place with people who will truly enjoy it and leave feeling more grounded than when they arrived.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?
I chose this place because itâs the kind of Montana thatâs getting harder to find â quiet, undeveloped, and still dictated by the seasons rather than schedules. The cabin sits among aspens beside a year-round creek, where the days are shaped by light, weather, and wildlife instead of traffic or noise.
What I enjoy most is the stillness. Mornings are filled with birds and running water, not engines. Nights are truly dark, with stars you donât see in town. Wildlife moves through regularly, and the pace here naturally slows you down. The dirt road, the distance, and the lack of nearby development are part of what protect this place and keep it special.
This neighborhood isnât about convenience â itâs about space, solitude, and the kind of quiet that lets you hear yourself think.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?
This property is unique because itâs not pretending to be something itâs not. Itâs a true off-grid Montana cabin, built for simplicity, self-reliance, and immersion in nature rather than convenience or luxury.
The cabin sits beside a year-round creek and is surrounded by aspens, wildlife, and open forest, offering a level of quiet and privacy thatâs becoming rare. Power comes from the sun, heat from a wood stove, and comfort from slowing down and living intentionally. Every part of the experience is hands-on and grounded in the rhythms of the land.
What truly sets this place apart is how it makes people feel. Guests who are a good fit often say they arrive tense and leave calmer, more present, and more connected â not just to nature, but to themselves. For the right people, this isnât just a place to stay; itâs a reset.
