Our 3 generation family (11 total) was looking for a little rest & relaxation. What we found was a little slice of heaven. Pictures & descriptions cannot do justice to this wonderful place and welcoming atmosphere home owners provided. Every room of the house was fashionable yet family-friendly furnished. Open floor plan downstairs allowed plenty of space for eating, game playing, entertaining, while still leaving special corners for reading. The kitchen was fully appointed. The four upstairs bedrooms were spacious; master suite and one bedroom off the upper deck facing east to receive morning sun. The bathrooms were spacious and laid out for everyone’s use. Guest room and bathroom on the first floor was equally spacious. Ample linen in rooms & plenty of dresser/closet storage. Each room was decorated with its share of art, intriguing wall décor & furnishings. If you looked carefully, you could find original art signed by the home owners. Had not purposefully sought rental with pool, but pool turned out to be one of our favorites of this wonderful home. We swam before & after breakfast, before & after lunch and all other times day & night. The pool was surrounded by/screened with beautiful landscaping, a stone deck with plenty of seating, portable fire pit and outdoor grill. The dock and assorted water craft provided great fun for grandkids. They fished, kayaked, rowed and piloted paddle boat to every corner of the cove. We captured fresh crab and mussels in the shallow waters. Ferry rides to North Fork and Sag Harbor were another adventure. Don’t miss the opportunity to park your car and go by foot on the ferry to Greenport. When you do take your car, drive west and visit dozens of Long Island wineries, stop at Briermere Farm or Wickham’s Farm for some of the best pies you’ll ever eat. As our kids & their spouses attest, there was nothing better than waking up on Dickerson Drive, brewing a cup of coffee and sitting on the dock in the early morning enjoying breakfast pie. The property and immediate area is bountiful with wildlife. White-tailed deer walked past the main deck as we ate dinner. Swans, osprey, gulls, geese, ducks, robins, plovers, squirrels & chipmunks were a daily sight. There was lots of stillness and quiet. Not silence, but the quietness where you can hear the wind through the reeds at the water edge & you can hear the song birds in the morning, with the only other enjoyable sounds being those of our kids and grandkids playing.
