À propos de cet hébergement
The Grizzly Den - Blocks to UM, DT, River & Trails
Settle into this 1920s gem located in the Heart of Missoula Neighborhood. Made modern while preserving its historic charm, this spacious studio is warm and inviting - and ideally located. A perfect home base for the urban explorer wishing to be a stone's throw from all of the best of Missoula. Stroll 5 minutes along 4 lovely blocks to Higgins Ave. Walk, bike, or run along Rattlesnake Creek or Clark Fork River. 15-minute walk - less than a mile - to The University of Montana campus—Go Griz!
I’m happy to interact with guests as much or as little as they like. My top priorities are guest privacy and space to make their vacation their own. If I can help in any way to enrich your experience, I’m delighted to do so. As a local Missoulian, I love sharing my hometown with visitors, so please do not hesitate to utilize me!
Central to Missoula’s history, The Heart of Missoula Neighborhood is a bustling center of commerce and activity, as well as home to many residents who relish being in the middle of it all. There are grand historic homes along the east-west streets of Pine, Spruce, and Alder.
This neighborhood captures a sense of community that pre-dates the 1940s and ‘50s Norman Rockwell vision. This dense area of homes and commerce harkens back to the old Western settlement where community was everywhere you turned and your grocer, banker, and barkeeper were also your neighbors.
Prime location - TOTALLY walkable to downtown and The University of Montana Campus.
Washington-Grizzly Stadium, Adam's Fieldhouse, The Wilma, Caras Park, Clark Fork River Trail, Farmer's Market, Missoula Children's Theater, Missoula Art Museum, Missoula Public Library are just a handful of examples of attractions within a short walk.
Missoula's best fine dining, cafes, shops, fitness & yoga studios, breweries, galleries, theater and music venues are within a short stroll.
Hiking, biking and walking trails in the North Hills, Greenough Park, Rattlesnake Recreation Corridor, Mount Jumbo, Mount Sentinel and the Kim Williams/Riverfront trails along the Clark Fork River are all within minutes.
Guests enjoy total privacy and separation from the second unit in the building. The porch and front yard are also available for relaxing and lounging.
This street-level studio apartment is the front unit of a dual-dwelling house.
A comfortable, miniature version of home, The Grizzly Den is thoughtfully amenitized with everything you need to stay comfortably in our little city. A quintessential downtown Missoula home close to the action but removed from the bustle of the busiest streets.
The space is clean, cozy, and practical - uncluttered but well-appointed—everything you need, nothing you don't.
Kitchen - spacious and adequately stocked with all the essential tools needed for prepping simple meals - stainless pots & pans etc., plus coffee, tea, and a selection of pantry items.
Bathroom - a compact bathroom with a petite tub and pedestal sink. It is stocked with quality shampoo & conditioner, body wash, and all the extras you may have forgotten to pack.
Living Room/Bedroom - enjoy variable lighting, pillows for propping, and crisp, clean bed linens enveloping a comfortable Casper queen mattress for a restful sleep. The curtains are lined for privacy and room darkening.
A smart TV with streaming apps sits atop a corner hutch housing a few games if you prefer interactive pleasures.
Seating for 2 in front of the picture window, which invites lovely natural light.
Window mount A/C is in position in the summer to keep you comfortably cool.
A closet with hangers pairs with additional drawer storage across the room, offering generous storage for clothing and other personal items.
Office Alcove - utilize the dedicated workspace to work remotely or send a note in classic form. Power strip provided to prevent awkwardly searching for a free outlet.
Parking:
- Free street parking in front of the unit. Or, one off-street parking space in the alley behind the unit - The space is 17 feet long, so some trucks or large SUVs may not fit.
Other Amenities:
- High-speed, wireless internet
- Private entrance with a secure smart lock and a unique code
- Local area information and guidebooks
- Outdoor hose for rinsing off after the beach
- Kids are welcome! Infant/toddler pack & play, high chair, and portable bathtub available on request
Ample street parking or parking for one vehicle in a dedicated, off-street space behind the building.
The city bus regularly runs on two streets near the house and will take you anywhere in the city. Walk, bike, bus, or drive anywhere with minimal effort.

The Grizzly Den is located in the Heart of Missoula district, and is ideal for the traveler looking to be close to the beating heart of our little city. While the street lends itself to low volume, slow traffic, we are still proximal to all the action of downtown, Washington-Grizzly Stadium, and Osprey Park. You can expect to hear the sounds of the city and its residents while staying here including noise from festivals, football games, neighborhood BBQ's and gatherings, cars, music, etc.
The location of parking on the street will vary - it's a public right-a-way so guests can expect to find a new spot each time they return to the house.
