Bijou blends the charm of a vintage English country cottage with the high desert. Tucked among towering boulders on 2.5 private, fully fenced acres, the bungalow feels warm and lived-in, with eclectic vintage details and cozy interiors made for slowing down and reconnecting. One king bedroom with cottage-style doors to the patio and a jewel-toned bathroom with a walk-in shower make it a home designed for couples. Morning light filters softly through the boulders, golden hour sets up an evening soak, and after dark the setting is made for stargazing. Bring a good bottle and a better conversation.

-Outdoor Amenities-

Towering boulders create a naturally secluded setting throughout the property. Settle into a hammock with a good book, gather around the fire pit, or step onto the deck built around the rocks for a soak in the hot tub. The seasonal cowboy tub, which is not an in-ground pool, is available March through November for a cool dip on warm afternoons. A shaded outdoor dining area and grill make it easy to eat outside, and an outdoor shower is built right into the boulders. In the evening, open skies and little light pollution make for great stargazing.



-Living Area-

The living area is cozy and inviting, with comfortable furniture layered with soft pillows and blankets. Play games, watch a movie on the smart TV or set the mood with your own music on the Bluetooth speaker, surrounded by eclectic, cottage-inspired décor.



-Kitchen and Dining-

The kitchen has the space and cookware to prepare your favorite meals and drinks together, and a Keurig coffee maker makes slow mornings easy. Eat at the dining table or the breakfast bar, or take your meal outside to the shaded outdoor dining area.



-Bedrooms and Bathrooms-

The bedroom has a king bed and charming cottage-style doors that open to the patio for a quiet morning coffee.

The bathroom carries the home's eclectic character with a moody, jewel-toned palette and a walk-in shower.



-Surrounding Area-

Bijou is an easy base for the restaurants, shops, galleries and outdoor adventures of Joshua Tree. Joshua Tree National Park brings hiking, climbing and sunset drives, and Pioneertown and Palm Springs make good outings.

The property sits near a main road, so you may hear occasional traffic and engine sounds. The tradeoff is an easy-to-reach home that still feels tucked away among the boulders.



Guest Access:

The entire house and property are yours to enjoy!



Please note that there is a locked storage shed in the backyard that is not accessible to guests and is used for rental supplies.



The Neighborhood:

Bijou is tucked among boulder formations near a main road, private and secluded while close to town. Because of the nearby road, you may hear occasional traffic during your stay. Bijou is about 5 miles from the heart of Joshua Tree, about 7.6 miles from Pioneertown, about 12 miles from Joshua Tree National Park and about 30 miles from Palm Springs.



Getting Around:

A personal vehicle is necessary to get around in this area - rideshare apps are not guaranteed.



Other Things to Note:

-Cowboy Tub-

The pool at Bijou is a seasonal cowboy tub, not an in-ground pool. The cowboy tub is available from March through November. The hot tub is available year-round.



-Hot Tub Rules-

Please shower before and after using the hot tub. No pets of any kind in the hot tub. After use, please leave the cover secured in place to hold the temperature, and do not stand or sit on it. If the hot tub or cowboy tub is left in poor condition due to misuse, an additional cleaning or maintenance fee may be charged.



-House-Specific Rules-

► Any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee for the first hour, with an additional $100 charged for every hour thereafter.

► Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM. External speakers are not permitted.

► Any locked closet, room or storage area on the property is reserved for rental supplies and is off limits to guests. Guests may be held responsible for damage or missing items if a locked area is entered.



-Pool and Hot Tub Service-

The hot tub and cowboy tub are serviced Tuesdays and Fridays, approximately between 9am and 4pm. Please note that these times are estimates and may change slightly due to our technician's busy schedule. He will not approach the house but will go directly through to the backyard.



-Pet Policy-

We welcome your dogs! There is a $100 per dog per stay fee, limit of 2 dogs maximum. Please note on your reservation how many dogs you are bringing. There is an unauthorized pet fee of $500. Please use the provided dog sheets before allowing your dogs on any furniture. Cats and other pets are not allowed.

-Wildlife & Safety-

The desert landscape is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty, offering a unique connection to nature, but it's important to be mindful of the creatures and plants that call this area home. Guests may encounter a variety of wildlife during their stay, and while direct encounters with dangerous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions, bobcats, mountain lions and other desert dwellers are rare, it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to keep a safe distance from these creatures when spotted. Additionally, the desert is dotted with sharp cacti and other spiky plants. For your safety, always supervise children, pets, ESAs, and service animals while outdoors. Dogs should remain on a leash at all times and be watched closely while outdoors, as they can wander into potentially unsafe situations with wildlife or plants. By booking this property, guests acknowledge the potential for wildlife encounters and assume responsibility for their safety and the safety of their group. By respecting the local environment and staying aware, you can fully enjoy the magic of the desert.



-Security Camera-

For your security, there is an exterior camera facing the front driveway, which monitors vehicles and occupancy. There are no cameras inside the home or facing any private areas, including the hot tub area.



-Cell Service-

Cell phone coverage in the area may be limited or unavailable depending on your carrier. Wi-Fi is available at the property.



-Damage Waiver Policy-

Each reservation requires either a refundable security deposit or a non-refundable damage waiver.
