The Space:
#StayinMyDistrict Step into this gem of a daylight basement studio, with plenty of windows to let in light and view the greenery that the PNM is so well known for. This space is in the lower level of a historic home nestled in a charming Portland neighborhood, surrounded by other historic houses and tree lined streets. This is a very popular location and It's the ultimate haven for your Portland escapade! Serene, tranquil, and oh-so inviting - you'll feel cozy as can be here! Dive into dreamland on the plush queen bed topped with cloud-like bed topper. After a day of exploring, soak away your cares in the deep tub. The kitchen is a chef's dream with stainless steel appliances, a gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, and even a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Enjoy your culinary creations at the spacious dining table or opt for takeout from the plethora of local & nearby eateries. Kick back in the living area with a smart TV ready for Netflix and Hulu binges. Step outside to your private patio, a lovely place to enjoy morning coffee or unwind with a glass of Pacific Northwest wine, or a brew. Accommodates up to 4 guests and no more than 2 pre-approved dog(s) w/$50 per pet fee. We are animal lovers; we just ask you wipe muddy feet at the door and do not allow your pets on the furniture or beds/bedding. We do provide pet towels, dog bowls, and poo bags! FREE Street Neighborhood Street Parking. This is a basemen-level daylight studio so it's possible you'll hear footsteps or plumbing from overhead. If you are extremely sensitive to noise, a multi-level home like this might not be the best fit. We do provide earplugs and fans for your convenience.
The main living area has a comfortable couch that pulls out to a sofa sleeper and provided linens, comforter and extra pillows and blankets provided. There is a small flat screen TV for catching up on your favorite Netflix series or for lounging and reading a book with seating for 4. Windows throughout let in light and with views to the greenery and landscape surrounding this historic home. The entry door and window are large and look to the private patio, this brings in tons of sunlight and creates a bright and open feel.
For those guests with small children, we provide a pack-n-play, high-chair, toddler bed and kid's dishware - parents will find this a convenient place and can save some packing space for other things.
There is ample closet space for storing personal items and feel free to use the Iron & ironing board.
Enjoy eating in your full kitchen including stainless steel refrigerator/freezer, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave and plenty of cookware and utensils. Enjoy a cup of coffee, drip coffee maker provided. The kitchen opens to dining and living area, and has a large wood table, comfortable chairs to accommodate up to (4) for use whether it’s for a meal or if you work remotely
The bathroom is equipped with the essentials, paper products and high-quality linens, are provided for guest. In typical tiny style, the bathroom is designed with small space in mind. Shower, extra small sink and toilet located off the kitchenette, and a barn door for privacy.
This studio features a Queen bed, memory foam mattress with comfortable, crisp linens. Relax in bed while reading your favorite book, we do have lots of books to read if you do not bring one. There are 2 nightstands, with table lamps, and a chest of drawers for storing personal items. There is a washer & dryer on the premise just off the bedroom that is a shared space but please feel free to do a load of laundry, we provide a small amount of soap.
There is a patio at the entry of the unit with outdoor seating for 2. Perfect for your morning coffee or glass of wine on a nice evening. The entrance to the studio is up the walkway and around the side of the house. There are about 6 stairs you will need to go down to get to the unit. entrance is from a path through the garden of the main home, There is FREE Street Parking on the street in front of or near the front of the home. Availability is first come first served.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the entire space, and access to laundry machines. Feel free to sit in the backyard, it is a shaded area, and this is also used by the residents in the main house, so be respectful and mindful. There are a couple of outdoor chairs on the private patio for sitting. The backyard area is NOT for guest use and is reserved for the main home. There is a hot tub there but that is NOT for guest use.
The Neighborhood:
The Humboldt neighborhood in Portland, OR is like the cool kid on the block! It's a lively urban hub right next to hotspots like the Alberta Arts District, a skip and a hop away from the Bohemian charm of North Mississippi Avenue, N Williams a neighborhood known for its urban energy and eclectic mix of amenities, this whole area is a magnet for young pros looking for a quick commute downtown. With bike lanes galore and top-notch public transport links, getting around is a breeze. And let's not forget the food scene - from trendy eateries to cozy bakeries, and let's not forget Portland's infamous "food trucks," this neighborhood is a foodie's paradise. The best places to stroll are N Williams, which is Bike Friendly, a cyclist’s dream w/dedicated bike lanes eateries, bars and coffee houses as well as boutique shopping. Alberta is known for its vibrant street art, galleries, and indie boutiques; Alberta Street celebrates local creativity. North Mississippi Avenue provides gardening supplies, plants, and resources. The Mississippi Ave hosts eclectic events like the “Living Art Workshops” on activities like staghorn fern mounting and terrarium building, and have many highly rated eateries, Blue Star Donuts, Gravy breakfast restaurant, food carts just to name a few. We highly recommend taking a walking or bike tour of the area to see what hidden gems pop out at you. All these adjoining neighborhoods offer a blend of culture, community, and creativity—perfect for exploring and making memories!
Getting Around:
Located in the popular Humboldt, Northeast Portland neighborhood. Close by to grocery stores, coffee shops and local restaurants & amenities, and the MAX light rail station. Easy access to I-5 and the Airport. Closest MAX station is on Alberta & Interstate, & N Killingsworth St MAX Station. Once you get to the MAX station you can easily access the entire City of Portland. Minutes to downtown, Portland waterfront and Washington Park. Car is highly suggested but definitely not required.
Public Transit: The TriMet MAX Yellow Line runs along N Interstate Avenue, which is a few blocks west of N Williams. You can catch the MAX train at the Overlook Park Station and take it southbound to downtown.
It is easy to take the MAX yellow line downtown, you can bring your bike if you want to, so it is easy to commute to Portland. Or you can jump on Interstate and take it south down near Swan Island and get into downtown without taking the bogged down freeways! If you want to walk somewhere to get yummy food, buy some flowers, get a beer at a pub, or just find some cute shops to browse through, you can walk to Alberta, half a block away, turn right to go to N Williams, and Left to get to the Alberta Arts District.
Biking: The area is bike-friendly, and there are bike lanes on both N Williams and Alberta. You can cycle south on N Williams Avenue, which will take you directly into downtown.
Driving: If you’re driving, head south on N Williams Avenue until you reach the heart of downtown. Keep in mind that traffic and parking can be challenging during peak hours.
Interaction with Guests:
Guests have access to the entire basement-level daylight studio with private entrance and private patio seating area. We are a local Mgmt Company, and we manage for the Owners who wish to keep their privacy. We are available via booking platform, phone or text, or in person if needed.
