This apartment is a dream getaway for folks who want to melt away from tourist crowds in Barbados. It's close to Soup Bowl (surf spot) and several delightful restaurants. But it's secluded and quiet and private in a way that feels like a true retreat. We traveled all over the island quite easily, but were always eager to come back and relax on the deck with ocean views.
We stayed for 18 nights including Christmas and New year. We could not have asked for any more. The property is clean, well equipped and spacious. The owners left a very generous welcome pack which was much appreciated. The location has a great outlook, and outside spaces, with the relaxing sound of the sea and beautiful breeze, we would recommend this property to others and look forward to returning soon.
Breezes, crashing waves, birdsong, and monkey antics...
Serendipity is a lovely and restful gift you can give to yourself. Jeff is a generous and helpful host. The veranda is wonderful; the bed is comfortable. The local lunch spots will serve up some of the best local food you could hope for. As an avid cook, I would have liked a few more kitchen tools, dishes, and such...but that is quibbling...Just a great trip!
We enjoyed our time in Barbados and found Serendipity to be as described. It was quiet and relaxing. The kitchen utensils could use an upgrade, but we made a lot of great meals there. Barbados is not for sissies. We felt safe, itâs the road conditions that were shockingly bad. No joke, get full coverage insurance on your rental car. We enjoyed the best snorkeling and went deep sea fishing, visited the wildlife reserve and many other special sites. If Barbados had better road maintenance, it would rate 10 out of 10!
We enjoyed our quiet, scenic, breezy time on the East Coast at Serendipity. Mornings on the verandah with coffee in hand was our favourite time of day.Doors wide open during the day let in the breezes as well as other little creatures of nature. Mosquitoes proved to be a problem in the evening and night but were managed. On arrival the snacks and beverages provided were greatly appreciated and our hosts were very prompt in addressing any issues that arose. The stroll down the hill to the beach and back up is definitely a good workout !
We loved our stay at Serendipity! Vicki and Jeff could not have been more helpful and kind! They were super communicative and ready to help with any issue, offer advice, and provide information.
For example, We were unable to find an available rental car prior to arriving (make sure you book early!) and Jeff was able to find us one!
The apartment itself was spacious and airy with a large wrap around veranda. There are beautiful views of the sea on one side and the forested mountainside on the other.
We were lulled to sleep each night listening to the distant roar of the sea and the whistling frogs.
We also were SO grateful for the starter food supplies provided⊠very thoughtful!
We would definitely return here â€ïž
One word sums up a stay at Serendipity - divine. From waking up to the breeze blowing over you and the sound of waves to making coffee and transferring to the hammock to watch the sunrise. That is a perfect start to any day. The home is so clean and comfortable with everything you could need during your stay. Great selection of books and magazines and the large amount of treats and drinks Jeff and Vicki left kept me going until I could get to a supermarket. There is a bus stop at the bottom of the hill which will take you to Speightstown and from there you can get all over the island so not having a car was no issue whatsoever. Jeff and Vickie are always on hand if you need anything. Loved being part of the small community of Bathsheba and exploring the surrounding area. Coming back to Serendipity at the end of the day made the experience perfect.
Comfortable and cozy with the best shower/water pressure in the Caribbean. The hosts were incredibly helpful as it was our first time to Barbados. A must stay!
We had a great time and hosts - Jeff and Vicki - were available when we had questions (where can we get coffee filters?). We were there for a week and could have stayed longer. Property is very tastefully decorated. Deck, hammock were the hit. Sitting everyday with coffee watching surf. If you want a quiet, peaceful get a way for two this is an ideal spot. Monkeys in the yard. Always a breeze on east (Atlantic) side. The beaches are beautiful but dangerous swimming. We found a couple of places right at end of the street where we could get in and enjoy. There is not a lot of night life. We could walk along water on the old railroad bed to Roundhouse (restaurant) and Bathsheba. Some of the roads are rough, but we found that there are several ways to get to your destination and they all take about the same amount of time. Your host can give you some advice for driving.
Host provides information about local restaurants, markets etc. Buy your veggies and fruit at the roadside stands. We will definitely be back.
