Our group of six stayed October 17–20 while visiting the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. As frequent vacation rental guests, we expected a much better experience.Upon arrival, trash cans were overturned and overflowing, with garbage scattered into the ditch. The advertised barbecue grill was rusted, broken, and unusable. We notified the host immediately, yet no replacement or alternative was provided for the grill. We were to keep the trash inside not at the trash cans. To grill steaks Monday evening, we purchased a camping grate at Walmart to cook over the fire pit—an unnecessary expense that could have been addressed by the owner or property manager.Inside, housekeeping was clearly incomplete. Bathrooms lacked basic supplies, towels were left in the dryer, and the home is in need of a deep clean of cabinets, windows, trim, tile et. There were dead insects inside the main home and spiderwebs in the garage game room. Outdoor furniture and landscaping also needed attention. Most concerning, smoke alarms were missing from the living room and primary bedroom ceilings, with two detached alarms found in a kitchen drawer.Despite promptly reporting our initial concerns, the trash was not addressed until late Monday afternoon, nearly 48 hours after check-in. The host is responsive in text but not in resolving concerns or issues which is why we didn’t notify him Sunday night of the 2 smoke alarms appear
