Clarendon Hills, which is one of the wealthiest and top suburbs in Chicago, it a very safe and family friendly place. Beautiful Prospect Park is just a block away with Prospect Elementary and Clarendon Hills Middle School located in the park. The exclusive Hinsdale Golf Club is a block away as well. In the summer cool off at Lyons Park Pool or Oak Brook Fitness Center. Stroll for a walk to Standard Market or Downtown Clarendon Hills
The property was old. A little beat up, but perfectly serviceable for what we wanted (a place to crash in between outings and at night). For the price, this was perfectly fine. The problem was that there was a moldy smell that was overpowering, especially on the ground floor. My pajamas still smelled like the musty moldy smell the night after i left and i slept upstairs.
Everything was great for my family. Enough room, beds, spacious place. Check-in and check-out was smooth. Only thing with check-in was that the door was slightly open. Other than that, we felt safe.
Donât let the âupper floorâ on this listing scare you away, it is a full house you have access to which was our concern. Thereâs a second (basement) unit that is fully separate- although you need to be conscious of noise on the first floor of the house if itâs rented which was fine with us. Good for a local wedding we were attending- tons of space. Perfect for our group of 4 (late 20âs, early 30âs) but would be a good sized property for a family as well. We could have had 2 more adults or 4 children comfortably stay. Second bathroom on first floor was a plus.
Call the property was clean by many standards. Everything is just extremely outdated and needs to be replaced from the towels to the linens to the dishes, pots pans, etc..
Ah, where do I begin? If youâve ever wondered what itâs like to stay in a place that kind of resembles the listing photosâif you squint, tilt your head, and imagine a different house entirelyâthen boy, are you in for a treat!Letâs talk ambiance. The creaking floors really add characterâespecially when youâre trying to tiptoe to the bathroom at 2 a.m. and end up sounding like youâre being hunted by ghosts. Very immersive. And donât worry about sneaking in late; the entire house will know. The chairs? Well, they do their best. One tried to launch me into a new dimension. Itâs impressive, really, how they hold together just enough to lull you into a false sense of security before surrendering to gravity. And yes, the tub still drains slowly, just as past reviewers lovingly warned. Youâll have time for a full existential crisis while waiting for your bathwater to disappear. Pair that with a shower faucet thatâs off-centerâas if it were installed by someone with a deep resentment toward symmetryâand youâve got yourself a spa experience like no other. But hey, it is in a nice area. You can almost forget the minor inconveniences while looking out at the beautiful neighborhood and thinking, âI wonder what itâs like to stay in one of those houses.âTo be fair, the place has potential. Unfortunately, itâs currently stuck somewhere between âcharming fixer-upperâ and âmuseum of missed opportunities.â A few upgradesâand by a few I mean manyâcould really bring it into this decade.
We had an excellent stay with family for our sonâs college tournament. We had all age ranges (10 months to 74 yrs old). Very comfortable beds & linens. Love the layout of the home! Having 2 bedrooms on main floor was a bonus & such big bedrooms. Comfortable seating for all of us , plus the bonus college kids that stopped by! You wonât regret staying here!!
The house was nice, in a quiet area. The bedrooms were great. It was a little nerve wracking when the lower unit was rented, as we didn't want to disturb them.
I would not recommend this place for families or those traveling with children.
We stayed here for 8 nights and 9 days. The interior is old, making noise with every step, and there were several broken areas. The shower on the second floor didnât drain well, and communication with the host was not smooth.
We were aware that there were other guests on the lower floor, but the noise problem made our stay very difficult. One night, the guests downstairs invited friends over after midnight, smoked marijuana, and were loud all night, leaving only after 5 AM. As a result, we had to endure the smells coming up from below, and the noise kept us from sleeping until morning.
I would not recommend this place for families or those traveling with children.
This location is perfect for visiting the city and wanting not to stay in the city. The rooms accommodate a larger family or group. The tub had a slow drain and we couldnât reach the host during our stay. They did reach out once our stay was over and apologized. Outside of the slow drain it was a great experience. Iâm sure they will fix that soon.
