We stayed here for our annual fraternity brother fishing trip and were very impressed with the overall accommodations. The house slept 8 very comfortably and there was plenty of room for us all to sit around the dining room table for meals and card games. The fire pit is awesome and the big covered porch gave us plenty of outdoor space if it rained. At our age (70) the steps the the second floor (where all the bedrooms are located) were a little tricky (high risers) - but if you take your time youâll be fine. Kitchen was very clean and well stocked. The star gazing was amazing (on the nights that were clear) and you could clearly see many satellites crossing with the naked eye. Hosts were very respectful and responsive. Highly recommend for families or larger groups.
Two miles off of Rt 44, well insulated from road noise. Beautiful property, intriguing, historic house, stunning star views, very responsive and welcoming owners.
We loved staying at the farmhouse and being surrounded by nature and beautiful views. Walking the property, sitting on the porch, hanging around the Firepit and stargazing were highlights. We also visited Lyman Run for swimming and fishing.
This was our second stay in the last two years and we will definitely go back next year. Tho use fits us all and has a great location. Owner is super responsive and is very responsive.
Warm and inviting home out in the country. House was clean and well maintained. We were charmed by the rustic but very comfortably equipped roomy house and the hospitality of the owners. Enjoyed the chickens roaming the yard and the beauty of nature all around.
Definitely want to return!
We had a lovely weekend despite the cloudy/rainy weather. We missed seeing stars but, weather is not predictable months out! Our only issue was the stairs. They were taller than present day stairs code for stairs. A bit of a challenge for a group of retired seniors.
We choose this location for a weekend getaway. The home was very clean and comfortable. The fresh baked bread and fresh eggs from Ben and Thankful was a nice touch. The view of the sky was exactly why we had chose this home. No need to go to Cherry Creek State park to view the skies. It was phenomenal and we cannot wait to return.
Thank you for a lovely stay!
Super friendly dog was roaming the property and came up to us to be pet! (She wasn't wearing a collar but we assume she belongs to the farm.) Also cute cows <3
It is a beautiful property in a secluded scenic location. The host was extremely kind, helpful, and hospitable. We would love to return again soon. One thing to keep in mind is that since it is far, the cell phone service will be spotty and the WiFi not the fastest. But, assuming you're coming here, you're coming to enjoy nature and not netflix!
PS. The chickens are AWESOME.
We stayed at Benn's house over the weekend. We drove approximately 5 hours each way for this experience. Everything about his house is perfect. Everything that you would need is there. Including the chickens that keep you company. We were fortunate to have clear skies on Saturday night and words can't describe the stars. No need to go to the state park, just go the the fields around the house and enjoy. I met Benn and he was extremely helpful in everything we needed. We will definitely be back again. Thanks Benn
Fantastic... we had a great time. The weather was not coperating the first two nights. Rainy so no stars nor a fire.but on that third night a breeze blew through and blew the clouds away and Wow! The sky and the Milky Way were just Beautiful. We only had two things we were kind of but not really disappointed in and that was VRBO dicrition said air conditioning. There was no air conditioning only window fans which ended up being ok The other I have mobilty troubles and the rise in ths steps was really problematic but I made it. A suggestion...a pull out bed on 1st floor. We will be back Have already started talking about next visit ..I havmobiltrouble
I was looking for a simple rental close to Cherry Springs to enjoy the dark skies of the region with my telescope. What I found was far beyond my expectations. The farmhouse was clearly recently renovated with newer appliances, DSL, and automatic fans in each bedroom to draw in the cool mountain air. I set up my telescope in the far corner of the back yard to gain full exposure to the southern skies which will amaze you from this location. Unfortunately it mostly rained but me, my son & my father-in-law were content to just relax on the excellent covered porches (side and front of house), feed the free-range chickens that roamed about, and drink in the tranquility. Benn was a very friendly and accommodating owner and I will no doubt return to this property.
We loved our stay! Weâve been talking about seeing the stars in Cherry Springs for about two years and finally made the trip. Unfortunately due to the wildfire smoke, we didnât get to see barely any stars but we had a blast regardless!
This is the second time we stayed at this property! First time was a full moon and didnt see the stars we wanted. This time it was a new moon (no moonlight) and the stars were epic! We have decided to make this weekend trip every year. Bring your own food in a cooler because the grocery store is about 50 minutes away. Benn was great to work with. The house has the old haunted farm house charm we love!
If you are looking for getaway to unplug and be in the wilderness to star gaze, then this is a nice place to stay. The property is a beautiful. The old farm house is well kept. It had the haunted house vibes we were looking for. The beds are hard and the the cleaner they use could be better with cleaning cobwebs and spiders in corners on all floors, cabinets and furniture. But still relatively clean. The check in process was easy and the direct communication with the owner was good. He was kind enough to leave us a dozen and half fresh eggs. One thing that not on this listing that everyone need know know is bring your own food. We packed a cooler with our meets veggies and liquor for the 4 hour trip. We also packed snacks. There is nothing around to eat and the super market is about an hour away. I read the reviews and took the advice from previous people who stayed. The PA grand canyon was awesome and about 30 minutes away. We also went to Lyman run state park for hiking and it was beautiful! We also stopped at cherry springs state park. I made the mistake booking on a full moon so we weren't able to see the galaxy we wanted. But it was still beautiful! We definitely will be back on a new moon or little moon lol. Also it is highly recommended you drive a suv or all wheel drive truck. If it is raining here it will be very muddy and you need a reliable vehicle. There are a lot of dirt roads especially the main two mile road to get to the property. We will definitely need back on a new moon!
We had a relaxing fun weekend at this beautiful old farmhouse. It rained one of the days and the house had plenty of space and boardgames to keep everyone busy.
This property is beautiful! It's an updated but true to it's roots farmhouse with amazing views of the stars! A wonderful place to relax and rewind. We really enjoyed stargazing on the property and Cherry Springs park. We enjoyed sitting around the fire pit and taking walks on the road and trails. We also really enjoyed looking through the old family pictures of the property and seeing how it changed over all those years. Definitely recommended.
