Comme vous conduisez sur notre voie boisée vous laissez derrière vous votre vie quotidienne trépidante et entrez votre propre refuge privé.

La maison principale dispose de 4 réserves de biosphère et 3. 5 salles de bains. L'étage principal a un plan d'étage ouvert w / une cuisine gastronomique, une île de 6 places, table de salle à manger pour 10, et un salon naturellement éclairée avec un vieux poêle à bois façonné. L'étage principal MBR contient un lit king size, salle de bain privée w / grand deux têtes de douche, et un balcon privé. Off la salle à manger est un autre balcon et un / véranda en couvert. La cuisine a une cuisinière et barbecue à gaz avec tous les ustensiles nécessaires pour préparer un festin pour la famille et les amis.

Le niveau inférieur dispose de 3 réserves de biosphère spacieuses w / lits queen w / bibliothèques intégrées, 2 salles de bains et de marcher sur l'accès à une grande cour. La salle des médias situé dans le centre contient une grande télévision et beaucoup de sièges confortables.

Le Coach House a 2 grands RB de taille et 1 salle de bain complète. Une aire de jeu avec tables de billard, baby-foot, poker, et de l'air hockey. Aussi une vidéo d'un coin salon.

Une passerelle de brique mène à un étang privé, terrasse / quai w / tonnelle, bain à remous et beaucoup de meubles de jardin pour profiter de l'atmosphère de détente.

Les locataires de Galena Territoire foyers ont accès à une Marina (à poissons ou de louer des bateaux, des courts de tennis), club de propriétaire (salle de fitness, terrain de basket, nouvelle piscine intérieure / extérieure), Parcours de golf (63 trous et practice), Sports d'hiver (patinage sur glace, luge, ski de fond), Shennadoah Riding Center (Trail Rides et leçons).

Galena historique, à 15 min. dur, propose un retour aux années 1850 avec des musées, restauré Main Street contenant magasins / boutiques d'antiquités, restaurants et divertissements nocturnes.

Dubuque, Iowa, à 30 min. entraînement, offre des promenades en bateau sur la rivière sur le fleuve Mississippi, un aquarium, parc aquatique intérieur, deux casinos et d'un chien Racing Track.

Multi Family Weekend

The home was as listed. We enjoyed our time and the privacy the home provided. The home was clean, larger than it appears in photos and worked very well for 3 families (14 people) to stay. The kids enjoyed time in the coach house next door. We didn't get to use the hot tub but they enjoyed sledding down the hill in the front yard. There was plenty of cups and dishes for everyone. The owner was accommodating with our check in/out needs. Also, lots to look at throughout the house, it made for lots of conversation and the kids enjoyed all the unique treasures. We would stay again! Not deal breakers but things to note:- You have to drop off the trash at a site about 10 minutes away. The key card needed to get in needs to be returned to the home.- We needed to use the extra pull out beds. The house has no extra pillows or blankets only an extra set of sheets per room. - They only provided 1-2 towels per room. It wasn't enough to accommodate everyone. Bring extra towels and beach towels if using hot tub.

Thanksgiving Get-Away

We decided to go “over the river and through the woods” for our extended-family Thanksgiving holiday this year. Our group ranged in age from 5 to 70 and the house and property were perfect for our 3 nights together. Plenty of room (bigger than the photos indicate) for game playing, crafting and cooking together! The kids had fun in the hot tub, game room and exploring around the pond. Kitchen worked great for preparing our Thanksgiving dinner. Dishwasher was a bit glitchy - or maybe we were : ) A very comfortable (if not posh) place to hang out together in a beautiful secluded setting (and the hosts have curated a really lovely collection of children books for a variety of ages- MANY of which were read during our stay). Dave was helpful and answered the questioned we had. Lots of good memories made!

Overall, a great place to get a group of people together. There were 10 in our group and we were able to relax, enjoy the screened porch, firepit and hot tub and cook some wonderful meals together.

Wonderful open kitchen and living room. The kitchen had plenty of kitchenware to create any meal you want. It was great! The teens loved the Carriage house!

Extended Family Gathering

Property was clean and had plenty of space for our family to gather. Access to Galena and Galena territory amenities was excellent. Plenty in the area for our multi age family, so having a central spot for staging and laughing was important. Deck and campfire is a great amenity to bring the family spirit together.

Cozy and comfortable retreat

We rented this property for a skiing trip to Chestnut Resort in mid-February. It's an amazing place—comfortable, cozy, and spacious enough for 13 people across 4 families, with ample kitchen equipment. The playful character and personality of the owner really shine through.

Great girls getaway

We had a great stay. The house was spacious enough to accommodate our group of 12 very comfortably. Kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals. Several people enjoyed the hot tub but would have appreciated some solar lights to light up the path to get to it. We loved the secluded and quiet setting and still were close enough to enjoy the town of Galena.

Galena visit

Our group of 14 (adults and kids) really enjoyed the property. It is a large amount of space and feels very secluded. We saw lots of wildlife from the house and appreciated how remote it feels though it is an easy drive into downtown Galena. We had fun exploring the hiking trails and also had fun escaping the heat at the Owner's club pool. We will back to Galena in the future and we would recommend this property for any large group.

Needs maintenance

I am not disappointed we stayed here, the layout of the house and guest house were great. Secluded, no next door neighbors. Lots of room to be together and also many spaces to get away by yourself. Appreciated the large dining table so all 12 of us could eat together. Kitchen had what we needed to make a large meal every night. Washer and dryer were fine. 6 passes included to galena territory owners club, would have been nice to have more. BUT - The squirrel living in the wall of the master bedroom woke us up every morning about 6:00 am, The 2 patio doors off of the dining room were very difficult to open and close. The dishwasher was pretty useless, we ended up washing dishes by hand. Water was hard, there was a softener in the utility room, but certainly was not operational. Other minor things here and there that you live with in your own house, but expect more when you rent from someone else. Owner did not reply to vrbo message or text to his phone, but did answer when I called.

Great family stay, minor hiccups

We enjoyed our stay here with 9 adults and 2 children. Plenty of room and places to spread out. We did experience a few minor inconveniences with the electrical switches in the house (lights working and then not working with no rhyme or reason,) but overall really enjoyed the house and its amenities. The listing should be updated with the correct processes for check in and check out as those are outdated/incorrect.

Great Location, Great House, Broken Hot Tub, Turd in the Pool

We have been going to Galena as a family for the last five years and the location of this property was by far the most picturesque and secluded. Unfortunately, when we arrived the hot tub cover was off and the hot tub was not in working condition. I called the host and he told me somebody must have left the cover off, which I knew This was one of our key search criteria for a house, so we were very disappointed. House was relatively clean, but lots of dead flies. The house itself was perfect for accommodating our 13 guests and the coach house was nice if you have teenagers or part of your group that needs quiet. Our kids found a turd in the community pool on the only day we had scheduled to visit. The pool had to be shut down for 45 minutes while it was deturded. With 5 passes to the owners club we had had to pay $40, which we lost due to the poo in the pool situation.

Large, secluded property

The house and coach house were a great place for our three families to get together and celebrate New Years. The main house has a large bedroom on the main floor and three bedrooms on the bottom floor, all with queen sized beds and fold out couches. This made it easy to be flexible with the kids' sleep arrangements. The coach house is separate from the main house and has a large living room with fold out couches and game room and two queen bedrooms. It's nice that all the bedrooms are comparable. There was plenty of space for our three families of 4, 4, and 5 people, though if you have younger kids they can't really stay in the coach house by themselves. The house has good amenities, the view is peaceful and the hot tub made it really special. As you can see from the photos, the decor is dated (1990s) but the furniture is solid and the house is clean. Nice short stay for a group of three families.

About eight years ago friends of ours loaned us their house for a couple of days while the well was being repaired at our home. Also at this time we were looking for a place to build a therapeutic riding center for special needs individuals. We fell in love with the Galena/Jo Daviess County experience and decided this would be the place where we would build the center. In 2008 our dream was realized and the center was opened. It is called 'Area of Dreams' and is located on Blackjack Road near Chestnut Mountain Ski Area. See links for further information.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

The center relies 100% on volunteer help. At the time we lived 3-hours away and most of the volunteers were from the same area. The center operates on weekends, so we needed a facility to house the volunteers who came on weekends. Luckily we found this unique property that fit these needs.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

This is a very secluded/private property that makes people feel they are deep in the north woods even tho civilization is just over the next hill or on the other side of the trees. As people enter the house they immediately begin to relax due to inviting and warm atmosphere of the house. Next they cannot wait to explore the many unique and fascinating features of the property. The tin ceiling, wood stove, hot tub and pier, pond, media and game rooms, and interesting decorative items. The open floor plan offers a wonderful place for family and friends to enjoy each others fellowship.
