Perfect for our group of ladies that get together annually. We love to kayak and being that close to the water is amazing, beach is great and easy to launch from. The house has lots of space to spread out, and was very comfortable. The house does not have AC, but there are plenty of fans available and the house stayed cool during the day, it really wasn't an issue for us. This has been one of our favorite places to stay so far since we've been doing annual trips!
This is our second time staying here and was again not disappointed at all. The basement level was finished and painted nicely. It didnt even feel like a basement. The weather didnt cooperate but still had a good time with all of the games and puzzles to do inside. There was no shortage of items and necessities. The fishing was ok, no keepers but continuously caught fish. The property owners are amazing to work with and great at answering questions. Can't wait to stay here again!
We have stayed twice in the past few years, planning on going back next year. Great place with wonderful owners. Everything you need is here. Beautiful property
If you're looking for luxury, this isn't the place. If you want nature at it's best, it's all here. Our family of 8 had a great time. We were lucky to see some beautiful moon rises and sun sets from the fire pit area. I'm giving it a 5 star rating
This was our second year at this cabin, and we adore it. :) Very cozy/homey, with plenty of sleeping room. I think the only negative is the water quality - tarmack in the water - but that isn't anything they can control. The firepit is amazing.
We absolutely LOVE this property! We had a wonderful visit! The property is located in the perfect spot to get away from it all and relax. Also the fishing was amazing! We will be back next year for sure!
This is an awesome place. We rent a different place each year for a week in the Northwoods. This one ranks up near or at the top. Location was superb. Million dollar views and quiet serenity. We are an active outside family. Daily kayaking, swims and hikes, and the real beauty of this place is location on the small peninsula. Itâs really a beautiful place. 270° views of the water. The lake is smallish, but that has the benefit of no huge waves and easy, kayaking/canoeing and boating. Time spent by the fire was fantastic. The house itself is as advertised. If youâre looking for a five star -cleanliness type resort hotel, this is not your spot. However, if youâre looking for something real/genuine with lots of character, this one is perfect. Everything worked fine, and we are grateful to have been able to stay there for a week. The three seasons porch and deck were great. We had multiple meals at the house. The fact that there is no Wi-Fi and, difficult at times cellular signal, is a bonus in my opinion. 20 minutes to Tomahawk, Check in and out was smooth and easy. Property owners were easy to work with.
Property is well maintained and the view was great from the fireplace on the peninsula. The Blackstone flat top griddle was great for cooking up a breakfast for seven! The two bedrooms on the main level were nice, but the lower level room could use some extra attention. The two bathrooms w/showers was great for the amount of people and they were very clean. Good selection of DVDs and games for rainy days including the Wii console. The pontoon is a good size and made the lake stay very enjoyable with easy access to the Lake Somo Resort Bar & Restaurant.
Our stay at this cabin was perfect! The location was idyllic, with beautiful views of the lake and a quiet, rustic atmosphere. Our family loved the fire pit at the end of the peninsula; its a beautiful and unique spot to relax at the end of the day. The hosts were communicative and friendly and, overall, this was a wonderful getaway for our family!
Excellent communication with the owners prior to our trip. Answered all questions we had. The house had EVERYTHING you could think of and then some. We had nine people and two dogs and everyone had a blast. The pontoon boat was a huge perk. Secluded location which has its pros and cons but we loved it! Kids caught alot of small panfish which kept them busy, no keepers though. Everything advertised on the listing was highly accurate. Wish we could have stayed longer. Would highly recommend and we may go back even though we like to try new places every year.
Couldnât be happier with the location! Totally secluded on the peninsula! Use of the pontoon boat and kayaks and canoe was great. Lots of panfish. The best spot was the fire pit at the tip of the peninsula! Will be booking this location again for next year!
Family getaway with 7 adults and one child.
Cabin was well stocked with anything you could possibly need! Huge selection of movies and board games(checkers being the favored of our group).
Communication was answered immediately whether by message or phone call.
Beautiful piece of property, would definitely recommend.
The property was the perfect Northwoods getaway experience for a few late 30âs dads that needed a break. The property was fantastic, and the house was exactly what we remember our grandparents cabins feeling like - which was perfect! Everything was well stocked and in order. Would recommend for families as well!
We had plenty of room and everything we needed for our short family vacation. Was disappointed in the condition the boat was left in. First it was filthy, spilled soda or juice, candy rappers and sticky stuff on the seats, was 1/2 full of gas, left in gear and run aground with the prop lowered and stuck in sand. We spent a good hour just cleaning the boat before we could use it. I know this is not the owners fault but want them to be made aware.
This rental is an absolute gem! The cabin is cozy, well-stocked and was perfect for two families with children and pets. The lake is gorgeous and we enjoyed the kayaks, fire pit with nearly 360 degrees of lake views and the property that felt remote and secluded without neighbors right next door. We had a fantastic time and would definitely stay here again!
Not a clean place but the land in Lake are awesome.
I spent the first day cleaning the refrigerator, microwave and both bathrooms. We also had to vacuum and wipe all the counters. Itâs very hard to believe that someone was there to clean it prior to our arrival. The cabin has a very old musty smell to it. The carpets are in really bad shape which drives that musty smell. The bright side is the land and the lake are awesome. We really enjoy the outdoor activities. The screened in porch was a help because we spent most of our time out there. So if youâre looking for a clean place this is not the place to go.
Staying at this quaint cabin tucked into the woods felt staying at a family cabin - warm & cozy. The host was very thoughtful with amenities including the alphabetized library of DVDs and loads of board games. Having the kitchen basics (condiments, butter, eggs etc) was a really nice surprise.
The folders on the kitchen Island were a wealth of information, if a bit disorganized. Some of the information one 1 sheet contradicted information on another - but over all, very helpful.
I especially appreciated the information provided about the family history of the property.
Although this cottage was really remote and took some driving on rough roads the end result was a perfect setting... gorgeous views and setup to do any and all outdoor activities but mostly enjoy the scenery and nature. The cottage was more than adequate and well apportioned and comfortable.
The peninsula that this home is on is beautiful. Lake somo is great for kayaking, boating. Fishing and swimming. We had a wonderful time at this property.
