Ideal for group of old friends to get together and do some Boston events where we all went to college in the early 1980s. Great, quiet neighborhood with easy walk to Orange Line.
This house was perfect for our family vacation to Boston. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance and the train was nearby for when we went downtown Boston. Nice, clean house with plenty of space.
Margaret was a wonderful host and communicated extremely promptly. Location was great, in close walking distance to public transportation and J.P. Downtown. We enjoyed making a cozy fire in the wood stove on a cool November evening. All in all a comfortable weekend with the family.
Wonderful stay!! This was our first timevisiting Boston (group was from MN & WI) and this house made our trip that much more enjoyable and stress free! The house was very clean and spacious. We had 6 adults and it was absolutely perfect for us. Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and places to sit in the living room/dining room to relax. The kitchen is fully stocked and has an outdoor grill. The owner is wonderful and responds very promptly and is readily available to answer any questions or concerns that come up. This house is in a perfect location to meet all your needs. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. It is a 8 minute walk to downtown Jamaican Plain. Downtown there are many places to eat, and a Goodwill and CVS pharmacy. There is a little grocery store (Happy Market) that is a 5 minute walk from the house, to get beverages and groceries. The transit system is a 10 minute walk from the house and will get you to all areas of Boston. The transit system is very easy to use and reasonable. (22.50 for a 7-day pass). We are so happy we did not rent a car and try to drive in Boston. Traffic is crazy and parking is even crazier! The transit system is the way to go. We always felt safe and it is clean. Long story short, we will definitely be returning to Boston in the future and will do all we can to stay at this place again.
We loved this beautiful house and it was a perfect place for our extended family to relax in between graduation events! Margaret was a pleasure to communicate with. Highly recommended!
Our stay at Margret's was excellent. The house is super cute, well stocked and nicely decorated. A very comfortable space to hang out in. Margret's is super accessible. Would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful historic home in a charming neighborhood. We enjoyed our visit to JP, Boston and Providence over a long weekend. Wish I had designated more time to explore the arboretum a 10 minute walk from Margaretâs house. It was spectacular! Thanks for a great stay.
This is a great location outside of the city, close enough to enjoy all Boston has to offer but far enough to relax in this cute neighborhood. Food and parks are within walking distance. The weather was all sunshine but not too warm. Our host was so kind and communication was great.
My family stayed here during my graduation from graduate school. We had a wonderful time staying at the property. The house was beautiful and we loved the recommendations and history our host gave us during the check-in process. We would absolutely stay here again. It's perfect for a family visit.
Very comfortable 4 bedroom home. We enjoyed the great kitchen for cooking, the large table to eat together. The master bathroom was very nicely updated. We enjoyed walking to the T and center street in Jamaica Plain. Parking our rental car on the street was also easy.
Our host provided plenty of towels, linens, shampoo, etc. She was very considerate.
We want to say how wonderful our stay was. We loved the area; the eclectic furnishings were wonderful. Even though it was not home, it felt like home. The neighborhood was great, stores & shops were all walking distance, getting into downtown Boston was easy. Again, we can't say enough about how wonderful our stay was.
This was a no hassle comfortable home in the heart of JP. Easy access to the greenway and shops. Quiet neighborhood. We all slept well in this comfortable and charming gem of an old house with all the modern conveniences.
We loved the updates to this wonderful home. The front door deadbolt lock was tricky to unlock the door and for those who plan to dine at home, the kitchen could use more place settings for a family. Otherwise, the stay was relaxing and comfortable. We really enjoyed our time in the Boston area!
This beautiful home was perfect for our family vacation. Margaret was very helpful and kind. Check in was easy and the one time I had to reach out to she was quick to respond. The beds were so comfortable. The house had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio with our morning coffees. The T line was an easy walk that only took a few minutes. The neighborhood was quaint and very safe. There were 8 of us and we had more than enough room. We would absolutely stay here again.
Stayed with our daughter and her family to attend our sonâs wedding events in West Roxbury, down town, and Somerville. Perfect location. The house has great character and charm with high ceilings, very well maintained. The third floor master bedroom is in the tree tops!
The house was absolutely gorgeous! Even better than the pictures. The outdoor space was perfect for morning coffee. It easily accommodated our party of 8. The place was well stocked with essentials and the owner left some very helpful instructions and directions for us to easily get around. Quick communication as well.
The house had all the accommodations as describes on the VRBO property details. Beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was fully stocked with pans, glasses, plates and spices. The train/subway station is about about .4 miles away but it is a nice walk through the park. Only observation for the foliage in the back - it could use a trim.
Family descended upon Boston to celebrate the youngest sibling's college graduation. The house made a great home base! Comfortable and welcoming, it was stated several times what a fantastic home and neighborhood it was! Beds were comfy and kitchen well appointed.
Thank you!
We stayed in Margaret's Jamaica Plain house for an anniversary trip with our family (8 of us in all). This may be the best VRBO stay we've ever had (and we've had several). Communication was great. The house was exactly as expected after reading the listing and reviews. Margaret went above and beyond, helping to solve a few travel issues (unrelated to the house) that came up for our family. The hospitality, the cleanliness, the neighborhood and the communication all add up to a top tier property.
Hello! I'm a Texas native that hasn't lost my "ya'll" even though I've lived in Boston for over 30 years. I spend most of my time outdoors - enjoying my garden, walking in nearby nature preserves, going on long, long bike rides, and escaping to the beach. I actually love winter because I ski in the parks near my house every day when there's snow on the ground. It's a great way to exercise my dog, Lulu. I'm a political liberal, inveterate traveler and amateur classical musician though I love music of all sorts.
I live in the popular neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. People want to live and visit Jamaica Plain because it has a hip vibe, is close to downtown, and has the most parks in the entire metropolitan area. My home is on a short two block street with primarily row houses. It's at the foot of Sumner Hill which is filled with Victorian Mansions. It's fun to stroll around and imagine upper class life in the late 1800's. There is also a house dating from the 1700's on the main drag - Center Street. That's where the action is and it's only a 5 minute walk from my house. The Arnold Arboretum and Franklin Park total over 500 acres of open space and are less than a 10 minute walk. They are part of the Emerald .Necklace Greenway which was designed by Olmstead - who also designed Central Park. The wonderful lake, Jamaica Pond, is also nearby. Most of my guests love to take a walk or run in the Arboretum.
In a city of such density, it's hard to find a true home that's available for short-term rentals. Moreover, it is set on a quarter acre of land so you have plenty of room to spread out. Most people like to sit on the deck and enjoy the weather while grilling dinner. However, although you may be tempted to throw a party while you're here, gatherings are not permitted. This is out of respect for my neighbors. Thanks for your understanding about this!
