This place has much to offer for people of all ages. Small children are safe at the water's edge and older people can enjoy swimming and all manner of kayaking etc off the dock. Cottagee has great lakeside orientation.
Nice quaint cottage right on the shores of the lake. Very relaxing experience.
Really enjoyed the cottage. On the waters edge with use of canoes and kayaks which gave us access to the lake for rest and relaxation. Cottage has awesome porch that is enclosed with windows that provide wide views of the lake. Location is close to both town and maidens cliff for going to the harbor or hiking respectively. Owner was nice and friendly to work with. Thanks for the opportunity to spend time using the cottage for a memorable vacation in Camden
We have stayed in the area before but always on the ocean. This lake property almost made us forget there was an ocean nearby! Super clean lake water with available kayaks/canoes kept us in the water most the day. Nearby hikes with amazing views were great. The property is a classic cabin with great views of the lake. We cooked most meals and found the appliances accommodating. We brought water and used that for all cooking, drinking, toothbrushing.
Overall, we didn't want to leave this little paradise.
Classic Maine lakeside "camp". Superior location and swimming. Loved it.
This is a traditional old "camp" on the lake. Comfortable even if not fully modernized. It's wonderful to be so close to the lake: from the porch room on the inside to sitting on lawn chairs or the swimming dock on the outside. Suitable for all ages, including small children who can wade in from the stone steps or the kayak launching area; also for adults who can dive off the dock or use the ladder. Without WiFi it felt like a real vacation (altho cell phone reception was excellent). We're planning to return.
My family (wife and two sons) had a pleasant week at the cottage. The location on a quiet part of the lake is relaxing. Cottage comes with a canoe which is nice for taking quiet paddle around the lake. My main issue came after leaving. The owner decided to keep my security deposit saying it took longer than usual to clean, and that I had not put all the used towels in one area. This is after I had paid the full rate for the week and been charged a cleaning fee. I had done the dishes and put them away, returned all chairs, equipment and furniture to the original places. Yes, the cottage needed to be cleaned after a week of occupancy ( cleaning fee right?). I just felt like I got tosed at the end and that the owner was being cheap and stingy after we had had a good and fair transaction. I probably wouldn't even have mentioned the following if not for a feeling of being treated unfairly but... the cottage is really cluttered. There are books, games, magazines, knick knacks on every surface. The cupboards are loaded with 100's of glasses, plates, and random accumulation. It just needs to be de-cluttered. Also, I left a loaf of bread on the fridge, and a mouse chewed through the plastic and had a snack. Again, no big deal, but I didn't like the way the security deposit was handled - so there you have it.
Everything about our stay at the Turville cottage was perfect. The cottage is utterly charming, filled with interesting books, games and intriguing memorabilia, and the views are just simply gorgeous. The sun porch is perfect always and the cozy living room with a wood burning fireplace was a delight on the cool late May evenings.
This cottage was very well stocked to cook a meal, head out on the lake with a canoe kayak or to take a quick swim. The water was nice and chilly in October but great to take a swim in. Really close to the happening town of Camden just minutes away and there is a really well stocked market just minutes from the cottage where you can pick up just about anything to make a great meal. Lots of board games for children and a wonderful view of the lake. We really liked all of the China that was available for a few family meals together.
Tranquility at its best-we kayaked, paddle-boarded, tubed ;(rented speedboat), swam/floated to hearts content and walked/hiked Maidenâs trail, played music, in peace. Perfect location/zipped downtown Camden for lunch/dinner and shopping/ice cream and Rockland-Check out âClawsâ-when mood struck us. In a nutshell -a wee slice of heaven amidst the hell of pandemic/strife-laid world! -Thank you thank you thank YOU Christie!đâ€ïžđđŒWe will be back for sure!â€ïž
Stunning views & wonderful location made for a great family weekend!
We had an awesome long weekend at the Turnville Cottage! Looking out at the lake from the porch or dock is just stunning. We took full advantage of the canoe & kayaks and just being by the lake was wonderfully relaxing. The cottage is very close to Camden (~3 min drive) which made it easy to go in for dinner, shops, or ice cream. Our family enjoyed playing monopoly and other games on hand (as well as tons of books) which was an awesome change from screens. Hope to come back!!
We really enjoyed our week in Camden! Quaint house and new separate bunkhouse. We used the kayaks and canoes for boating and fishing, and even took a dip in the lake in May. Plenty of linens including towels, and very nice surrounding neighborhood. Close to the town of Camden. Would definitely stay here again!
This is an amazing lakehouse. Simple because it is a quintessential Maine early 1900s summer cottage given modern updating. Amazing because every detail and item has been so well kept and reconditioned. Turn key, friendly and usable and perfectly beautiful.
We enjoyed every minute of our stay on the lake. The house is so charming and is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Would rent again and would recommend!
We couldnât have asked for a better lake house to get away to-super clean, every amenity inside and out, gorgeous lake. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you!!
Quintessential Maine Cottage on Beautiful Meguntacook Lake
Highly recommend. In fact, we would love to come back again. We had the most relaxing week on the lake during our stay. The cottage was adorable and cozy. Every morning we sat on the dock with our coffee and spent the day using the kayaks, canoes and water toys. I like that the front area has lawn and steps leading directly into a sandy part of the water. Camden is just 10 minutes away by car and we went in most nights for ice cream and to sit on the waterfront in the park. The Maiden Cliff hike is a short bike ride away from the cottage, which I did with my son. But honestly, we didn't do nearly as many activities as we had planned because we loved the cottage and quiet, peaceful lake so much and didn't want to leave. I would recommend that you bring a brown tail moth medication with you for the stay. The entire area (Camden, Rockland) is struggling with Brown Tail Moth. I reacted pretty quickly because I have had it before. My husband and our teenagers only had a few scratchy spots. Just be prepared with a good steroid cream or even better, the compound spray and you should be all set.
