Sweet little place with everything you need!

Wonderful little place! It was very clean and had everything we needed! We didn’t cook much but it had the basics. The beach is great and so close. The house has beach chairs toys and towels! We are already looking forward to staying again!

The cottage had everything we needed for a great beach vacation. The location was perfect for day trips and the bay beach was chilly but beautiful! The town of Sandwich was lovely and we had a great dinner at the Belfrey on our last night. We'll definitely be back.

The beach was wonderful and only a short walk from the cottage. The sun porch was perfect for leaving sandy shoes and storing the beach gear.I had to keep the windows open at night, so I could listen to the ocean waves crashing and the crickets chirping.While the cottage had a cozy, rustic feel, I appreciated having a washer/dryer and dishwasher.Genevieve was very responsive and accommodating via text.
Nothing like having a private beach and taking 10 days to work on this project!

The check in was simple, with a code for the lockbox. The cottage was clean and had all we needed. It was great to have newer appliances, such as washer/dryer, and dishwasher. The water pressure was great. We were just a few steps back from the beach, and the sunsets and sun rises were incredible. The minor negatives were a loud a/c (although we were relieved to have that this week!), and a mattress that was a little soft for this old body. All in all, we loved it and hope to return next year!!

Magnificent week

Wonderful Property

The property was exactly as listed. It is a lovely cottage that made us feel right at home. The rental also came with everything needed; towels (beach and bath), sheets, access to washer and dryer, beach chairs, etc. These amenities were definitely a plus! Great communication with the host. We would love to stay here again!

Perfect beach cottage

The cottage is small, but was perfect for our family of four...the photos don't do it justice. We lucked out with perfect weather and spent most of our time at the beach - 50 steps from our front door. Beach chairs, towels, pails and everything else we needed was provided. Would definitely come back.

Second stay even better

This was my second time staying in the cottage & I extended my stay to 2 weeks. Last summer after my stay, I had suggested just a few improvements & low and behold, many of them were actually done. That really speaks to how much the owners care about maintaining the property & want their guests to have a good experience. Details are what make a house a home. And to be sure, they have the details down (the welcome binder really spoke to my OCD tendencies). As someone who has been in a number of different rentals over the years, I’ve noticed that sometimes you have to chose between location & quality (if you don’t want to pay 10-15k). You get both in this bright & cheerful cottage.

Relaxing and cute!

My family stayed for a week. The house was spotless up on arrival, one of the cleanest houses we have stayed in! It was the perfect size for our family, the location was wonderful and the neighbors renting were so kind. We had everything we needed. One downside was the family staying in the big house kept throwing their dog poop all around the garbage can, which was not pleasant to navigate around when taking out the garbage and yucky to look at. We have a dog at home so I think a simple reminder to throw into the can and not AT the trash would be nice. Another downside, the septic was pumped unexpectedly while we were there and it was pretty smelly while that was happening. I would have appreciated more than a morning of notice that this was happening. If we weren't there then the house would have had to be accessed without us being there and possibly knowing. Again, come from a background with septic in a house so unless this was an emergency, I feel communication could have been better. Overall, great experience and have already recommended this listing! We would stay again because the 2 issues were overall minor.

Decent rental in great location

This cottage is nice enough, and only one house from the private East Sandwich beach. It was clean and had the basics that are needed for a great beach vacation. A few things I wish we had known. The “air conditioning” is three window units, only two of which can be run at a time or the fuse blows. That was annoying when the fuse blew twenty minutes after we arrived. But the owner was responsive and called back in fifteen minutes with instructions on only using two of the three units and where to find the fuse box. It was tough deciding which bedroom wouldn’t get air during the day so the living room could cool down. And the kitchen never received air so it was always stuffy there. The second issue we had is that this house isn’t outfitted as well as other houses we’ve rented. Things like cereal bowls and pots and pans were lacking. We found only one pot to cook in (the cabinet was full of odds and ends like tiny pots and huge colanders that all looked like cast offs from someone’s house). And there were so many cabinets and shelves blocked off for the owners things that we were constantly rearranging our stuff to make it work. The furniture was old and stained and didn’t really fit in the living room, but it was comfy! The beds were comfortable too and there was always enough hot water. We enjoyed the screened porch and gas grill. All in all this was a fine rental and we were glad it was available on short notice in the summer.

Hi Trish, Sorry you felt this way. Why would three air conditioning units be a problem? I think you miss understood me about the air conditioning. The week you were here we were in the middle of a very severe heat wave. It was well over 90. Massachusetts has suffered it hottest July in history. When the cleaning lady was in the cottage I asked her to leave the units on for you so that it would be cool for your arrival. You texted me at 12 pm and asked if the unit was ready and I let you move in early, which I thought was pretty nice. When you called me about the air conditioning at 4:10 I responded to your call in not 15 minutes but 5. According to your text to me the problem was solved by 4:18 and air conditioning was running. I explained to you that when you leave the exterior doors open for an extended period (as you moved your bags in from the car) the temp goes up quickly and as a result all three air conditioners kick in at the same time and throw the breaker. You seemed familiar with the concept and were already searching for the breaker box. All three air conditioners can certainly be run at all times without problem, just not when the doors are left open on a 95 degree day. There is one cabinet that has locks on it for the cleaning products. My parents who own the cottage left some canned goods and spices. My mother is a chef and so I always think that there are too many pots and pans??? There is a large lobster steaming pot, several sauce pots, a couple of frying pans and a stock pot for pasta. The cabinet has TWO different types of bowls. 6 Small cereal bowls and 6 shallower spaghetti bowls. The unit has a brand new washer/dryer which isn't in the listing. The furniture are all antique pieces which I think makes it charming. I hope you took advantage of the fact that you were mere steps to a private association beach during a blistering hot week on Cape Cod?

Location is everything

There are so many things to LOVE about this special property (feels like a cottage or camp versus a beach house). First and foremost - It is literally only about 25 steps out the door to the beach. How awesome is that? The beach, as others have mentioned, is rocky so beach shoes are a must. I liked that the beach felt safe. People who come daily just leave their stuff - chairs & things overnight & nothing is disturbed. The vibe is friendly & super low key. I really liked that beach! The house is pretty close to other houses, so there wasn’t as much privacy as I typically prefer (especially while using the out door shower which isn’t enclosed) but strangely the layout didn’t matter as much as I thought it might. The house is small but the space is extremely well utilized & it had all the essentials. The furniture is super comfortable; bath & beach towels & linens were provided (soft & good quality); updated appliances; super clean & bright; cheerful colors & decorations; excellent WiFi; lots of TV channels; quality beach chairs. A special shout out to the owner who couldn’t have been more responsive, helpful, and friendly. She makes you feel like you’re her favorite tenant (even when you reach out with minor issues or questions that could feel like a bother to some). A final word about the size of the house..honestly I can’t see how a family of 3 or 4 would fit in the house. I think it would be best for singles or couples. Be aware- the shower is a tight squeeze; it might be an issue for a larger person. I found that I was bumping into things when I first got there before I adjusted to the space. I would really like to return next summer for an extended trip, so I came up with a wish list of improvements that would make it even more wonderful (especially for someone who might want to stay for a few weeks & work). It would make a huge difference if they switched out the window A/C units for those split units. The A/C was super loud, so I had to get earplugs in order to sleep (I’m pretty sensitive to noise). Along those same lines, I might take out the daybed in the second bedroom and replace it with a desk & chair. (More & more people are working when they travel). I might also add a Keurig; a few power strips, wall clocks; some additional shelves in the bathroom; a full length mirror; a cabinet with weather emergency supplies (lantern, flash light) & instructions. Overall, my stay was delightful.

Beach getaway

We had a wonderful week here. Pulling onto the road, you immediately get vacation feels with beautiful homes and beach atmosphere. The house was small but very well planned out and we felt as if we had plenty of space. Beach was steps away and only complaint was how rocky it is. However if you have water shoes it’s fine. Also, if you plan your day around being in the water at low tide it’s beautiful and feels so clean/smooth. Because it’s a private beach, you can leave all your chairs/etc there. We had fires each night (stopped to put $5 in a jar and take a pile) and it was a really nice friendly environment without being crowded. Host responded right away to everything and even had trustworthy babysitters available for our kids. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect location

The only issue I had was with the Lock Box. I found the directions to open it were not very clear and not easy to access the keys. Both upon arrival and departure I needed assistance. It’s possible my difficulty was I had never used one before. Other than that the house was everything that was advertised. It was a perfect location and size for the 2 of us.

We had a lovely experience at this property! My family and I were very happy with the cottage. The location is steps from the beach, which is ideal with small children. If I had to write a negative we missed having a deck to sit on . Picnic table in parking area out in the blazing sun Umbrella wasn’t much help . The front porch screened in was to hot to sit in . But overall we enjoyed ourselves . The AC was a godsend

Cute cottage close to the beach

My family enjoyed our stay in this beach cottage and would definitely stay here again. The host was responsive to any messages. The cottage is cute and cozy and had everything we needed. We cooked every day and had most utensils we needed, anything we thought we might need we bought with us. There is a bbq which we used everyday and a picnic table. There are lots of activities to do on the Cape. We rode our bikes everyday on the Cape Cod bike trails which are extensive. The beach is long and has pebbles, you will need water shoes to walk over the pebbles into the water. Low tide exposes sand banks which provides more sandy beach to play on. You can get a permit for a bonfire on the beach in the evening. Supermarket, mini golf and ice cream shops were close by.

Enjoyed a getaway at the beach

Brought my young family of four to the cottage and we had a great time. An easy walk back and forth to the beach, we were able to use the bathroom and have lunch at the cottage. We brought water shoes for the rocky beach, and watched the amazing sandbar appear at low tide. The kids enjoyed searching for cool rocks, catching hermit crabs, and playing in the water. We also rode the nearby bike path along the Cape Cod canal. The house had everything we needed for a week at the beach.

Ocean Cottage

We loved the location. House was a bit small for 5 adults. Property was clean and neat although a photo featured picnic table was not present . We did experience some windows on porch and roof leaking during a last morning rainstorm. We left a note for owner so this can be addressed
