We stayed at this beautiful home for our large family reunion and it exceeded our expectations. Everyone had a fantastic time. We all loved the pool, playing ping pong, beach volleyball and being able to walk onto the sand and enjoy the waves. We even witnessed a sea turtle laying eggs right on the beach in front of the house. The caretakers were outstanding. Karina deserves special recognition-her cooking was absolutely delicious. She prepared a wide variety of meals, included dishes we requested that she had never made before, and they all turned out fantastic. She also managed to cook the perfect amount for our large group. One morning, her husband took us to buy fish and shrimp, fresh off the fishing boats. It’s rare to find a place that checks so many boxes. This home and the caretakers truly stand out, and we would happily return in the future.

Amazing

This property is breath taking. I brought all the moms in my family here for Mother’s Day weekend and everyone felt amazing here. The care takers were amazing so helpful. Karina the cook made us amazing food. Can’t wait to book this property again. Note that the road to get there is all dirt road and it feels like you are driving to the middle of no where but once you get to the stone road you are right there.

Solyar Beach Trip.

Once we got to the property it was great! However, the road had been washed out by a rain storm a week before we got there and not just any car, or bus for that matter was able to cross. The house was very clean. We had a wonderful time! The property manager and cooks did their best to make us feel comfortable, but the electricity went out during a very light storm for 8 hrs, and the generator only had 2 hrs. of gas. those 6hrs were over night with no fans no A/C. Hence very hot and sweaty night. We would love to come back, and we would recommend this place to our friends and family. When in Nicaragua patience is the virtue to have a great time!!!!! We will be back again!

Thank you for staying in our home with your group. As you are aware, a week ago Nicaragua was affected by floods from Hurricane Julia and the roads and other infrastructure are damaged, the government has limited ability to repair them promptly and I apologize for this inconvenience on the road and electricity. I am glad you had so much fun and the house so comfortable, that you are coming back soon!

the ad say when you search 30 people but they aloud only 13

this is ridiculous because when you search for property it say 30 people but they aloud only 13 , adiccional person cost more ,plus we wait for the people who live there to receive everything and they say everything is ok after i got charge ridiculous amount for a broken pool chair, that we never saw the picture

Wonderful Week at the Beach!

The Pochomil Beach house is an amazing place for a vacation! Gabriel was very helpful in coordinating and helping from beginning to end with tips, suggestions, and ideas about traveling to Nicaragua. Otellia and Jose, along with their family, were so wonderful and welcoming! They made us all feel right at home and helped us with everything imaginable...taking us to the local fish market and local grocery, starting bonfires on the beach, cleaning up, and cooking us delicious meals breakfast, lunch, & dinner. It is definitely helpful if you speak Spanish. We were so lucky that one of us could easily communicate with Otellia and Jose. We were happy that another reviewer suggested to bring along some presents for their grandchildren--coloring books, crayons, kids' toothbrushes and toothpaste, and some t-shirts. I wish we had brought along some more. If you have room in your luggage, I'd recommend bringing them some clothes or basic necessities. They will really appreciate it! The house itself is amazing and quite large. The bedrooms were all large and comfortable, and had AC. There was definitely room for all of us to spread out, and each bedroom has its own bathroom! The dining and living area is all open air, which we loved. Hanging out in the hammocks or the comfy rocking chairs with a view of the ocean was perfect. We didn't have hot water while we were there, but since it was 91 degrees everyday it didn't bother us too much. You will definitely want to stock up on groceries in Managua, as the nearby grocery has very limited options. You will also definitely need a rental car to get around Pochomil. We originally weren't going to rent one, but Gabriel suggested we did. So glad we took his advice! Make it a priority to visit the local fish market with Jose. It is an amazing experience and you will get delicious fresh fish! We had lunch at Summer Pochomil two days which was fun change of scenery and the food was good. Coordinating surfing with Luis was great too! He was so helpful and nice and even took us out to a local cave with Petroglyphs. We would never have found it without him! We coordinated massages at the house too--they were amazing! Staying here will allow you to relax at the beach, enjoy the pool, and also experience Nicaragua. It is a great place to experience the culture and realities of life in Nicaragua.

The beauty of Pochomil beach is that is far away from civilization (1 hr from Managua) that you have an almost private beach experience but close enough to a small town ( 5 kms) to get refills on basics. Good Experience...Okay Location...

First, let me start by saying that we (there were 10 of us total -- including 5 kids between the ages of 3-5) had a wonderful time at this house! We stayed at the house for two weeks and, to give context for our stay, we have traveled extensively through Costa Rica, Panama, and Mexico, and some of us speak Spanish. The set-up is ideal for two families traveling together (which we were) -- one family stayed upstairs and the other stayed downstairs allowing for privacy and comfort for everyone. The positioning of the house on the beach with the pool was very child-friendly and an overall delight. Further, the staff was simply incredible...really truly incredible! That said, I wanted to comment on a few "issues" we had with our stay so that it may help others in their decision about where to stay. The single biggest problem that we encountered was the location. While it was conveyed to us that Granada was about 1 hour away and Leon was about 1.25 hours away, it was more like 2 and 2.5 hours respectively. Even basic groceries were about 1/2 hour away (there's literally nothing "local"). Since much of the other attractions in the country are in the surrounding areas around those cities (Las Isletas, Mombacho, etc), the distance was a HUGE problem (anyone traveling with children knows that 4-5 hours of round-trip travel time is quite different from 2 hours). I wouldn't recommend using this house as a base and/or for an extended stay -- just a beach house to go to and strand yourself at for a couple of days. Another issue (also relevant for families) is that, at least while we were there, the ocean was far too rough for kids (and most of the adults). Other than those two major issues, there were a few other glitches. Some of those glitches may have to do with Nicaragua more than the house itslef... We lost power three times in the two weeks that we were there (each for a very short duration) and we had no reliable internet for a full week (a major problem since that also meant no reliable phone) -- perhaps par for the course in Nicaragua.... Also, when it rained, a deluge of water would penetrate the house and flood the interior bedroom floors (so no toys and such could be on the floor). Finally, we were contstantly needing to "supply" the house: Cooking gas, toilet paper, dish soap, etc --NOTHING was included -- not exactly what one looks for in a "relaxing vacation." With the above said, if you know what you're getting in to, you can have a fun time!

Thank you for staying with us for your vacation and we are pleased that you found the house very comfortable. Please note that Granada is about 75 kms away and Leon 90 kms away, most people make those trips between 1 and 1 1/2 hours; however, driving style and traffic may affect those times. The house has many open terraces and if it rains, it is common that some water comes into the open terrace, as tropical rain usually comes with wind, but generally lasts about 30 minutes before sunshine comes back. The strength of the waves are average; however, non swimmers and babies should get in the ocean during low tide when the water is calm, high tide has 4-6 ft waves and is more for experienced swimmers and surfers. If the guest feels the tides are too strong (high tide), we have a large and very comfortable pool next to the terrace where you can still enjoy the sun and the water. Tides vary every 6:15 hrs, so if high tide is at noon, low tide will be at 6:15 pm, and so on. We hope to have you as our guest in the near future and welcome your comments.

Great vacation to remember for a long time.

The owner has provided everything we could possibly require, We felt so welcome. This is really a good place to spend time with friends and family. We had someone cooked for us and she was excellent, very impressed with her. The house is very clean and well maintained. Good security all the time and only a 10-20 minutes drive from the main city. We are planing to go back again soon.

Beware of overcharges

My mother always taught me to say something nice. This house is large and right on the beach, those are he nice things. On checking you will be greeted by a topless man smoking cigarettes in a broken lawn chair. There is a no pets rule in this house, unfortunately the caretaker does not follow this rule and their 2 dogs will invite themselves to every meal whether you like dogs or not, they will be under foot in the kitchen and parked at the dining table for every meal. The cleaning staff is surly and unfriendly. The screens are broken or missing so you can not keep windows open so you must use A/C, then the owner will try to charge you extra for electricity. We paid $400 up front for electricity and then he tried charging another $200 after we checked out. $600 for electricity for 4 days?? If you ask for anything you will be instructed to provide it yourself, including garbage bags. This is not a luxury rental by any means including and especially the bed linen . If you are more up roughing it and don’t mind paying top dollar then go for it. Otherwise I would avoid this rental.

Family Beach Vacation

Cares only about getting your money

We had to leave Nicaragua early during to the State Dept Wantnig level (Corvid19). When asked in to get a refund during to not being able to stay in country. They refused to refund the money we paid in full prior to our stay. Very Respectfully, Lewis R Baer II

Family Beach trip

Everyone from the property manager to the domestic staff were friendly and helpful beyond our expectations. House is beautiful, well maintained and the kitchen is stocked with all you should need for food prep. Our experience was mostly positive, but we were surprised to find out that our energy usage warranted such a large fee. If the expectation is that no matter what you do, there will be a fee for energy, that should be stated at the beginning and the property owner should be clear about what to expect. We were very conservative with our use of the A/C units and had fewer guests than anticipated so our energy usage should have been under whatever they considered reasonable.

Just perfect!

We brought 20 of us down to serve in a local community. We usually stay in Managua, but with the political issues for the past year, we thought it safer to stay out of the city, especially at night. This house did NOT disappoint. We never have it this good when we come down here! Totally spoiled us from the house itself, to the pool, the beach views, and the cooks. Josepha and crew had meals ready at the times we asked, everything was prepared perfectly and they were a joy to work with! We'll be back!

Wonderful oasis in Nicaragua for the entire family

We enjoyed a great vacation in Nicaragua at this great home. After researching several beaches, this was the closest to Managua and central to all the main places we wanted to visit, Granada and Leon. The beach is very quiet, only a few locals walk by, mostly for fishing and turtle egg hunting. On weekends many of the homes are occupied by their owners and you see more activity at the beach. We enjoyed our quiet time feeling so lucky to have a mile long beach just to ourselves. The home is very large and comfortable, service is great, and the staff very friendly. Definitely a great home to relax and enjoy with the family.

Best chef I ever had

The house is gorgeous, great view, large areas, lots of entertainment options, very large rooms. But my best was the chef, Josefa. We requested the owner the service of a local cook to ensure my wife and I relaxed during our vacation. It took it to another level, from a simple vacation rental to a 5 star hotel with catered meals. She was really good at preparing local meals while catering to our foreign appetite (low on oil and spices). The pescado a la titipapa was amazing, local fresh fish covered with tomatoes and onions. So was the fresh ceviche prepared every afternoon for our snack accompanied by a frozen margarita made from freshly squeezed limes. Waking up to a fresh fully cooked breakfast and hot local coffee knowing we didn't have to wash any dishes ensured we started on a good mood. Finally, I cannot say enough of the churrascos and filetes made from organic grass fed meat, they were so tasty along with the tostones and chimicharree.

De Lujo, Relajante, Para Descansar

Hemos tenido una excelente experiencia, desde que hicimos la reserva tuvimos una respuesta muy rápida, cada cambio que pediamos el Sr. Gabriel nos ayudaba a encontrar soluciones. Las fotos y la página son muy claras de lo que es la casa y no nos llevamos ninguna sorpresa, bueno, en realidad fue grata sorpresa porque la casa es mucho mejor en persona que en fotos. Los cuartos muy amplios, limpios y bien equipados. La cocina igual. La barbacoa es enorme para hacer varios filetes o hamburguesas a la vez. Las áreas sociales son tantas y tan grandes que los niños no molestaban a los adultos y pasaban alegrisimos en el Ping Pong, Poker, o piscina. La playa es realmente privada, solo se ven los vecinos caminar pero no llega gente de fuera de la zona, lo cual da mucha confianza. Pochomil esta a solo una hora de Managua, lo que permitio que algunos de nuestro grupo pudieran movilizarse al aeropuerto sin problemas de perder el vuelo. El servicio de cocinera y jardinero fueron excelente, Josefa, Otilia y Jose se portaron de maravilla. Son gente muy honesta y trabajadora. Si algo puedo recomendar es que traigan la comida de Managua, ya que las tiendas locales son muy limitadas, ademas del pescado fresco, hielo, y cosas básicas, productos de marca o de lujo casi no se encuentra.

Very large, top luxury, fun, great service

My extended family started with me at this wonderful beach home. I was concerned because our group of 16 was very large and Nicas tend to oversell and underperform their services. Not here, all bedrooms were very large to fit an entire family. Social areas, dining room, terrace, pool, kitchen and BBQ areas are huge. We could have been 25 and still had lots of room. Beach is beautiful, large and private. Home has many architectural details that make it unique and very attractive. Service provided by the cook Josefa was excellent, great food and friendly. Pochomil is only one hour from Managua and easily accessible, the owner Gabriel is very responsive to all our email and phone requests. We highly recommend the home and the service provided. It is definitely much better than other homeowner experiences we have had.

Ideal Getaway Spot for Friends/Family

I’ve stayed in this property multiple times and it never fails to impress. Whenever I go, I feel like I own the entire beach since it’s so calm, private, and exclusive. Living in the United States, I always like to go back to this house because I can escape the winter at any time during the year. Depending on my mood, I like to go with a few people and just relax in the hammocks, by the pool or tanning in the ocean or I can also bring a large group of friends and host a party. The house is beautiful and huge and the attention you get from the staff is 5 stars. I would 100% recommend.

A Full Luxury Service Home

This house is so complete that it made our vacation so wonderful. Every detail was taken care of, a huge kitchen, a large bar, a very large BBQ. Lots of entertainment, from poker table, ping pong table, mini golf, sand box, pool, kiddy pool, hammocks, boogie boards, and more. The owners seem to be taking care of every detail, such as USB plugs to charge your phone, seashell finish on bathrooms, and more. It is an architectural wonder that any artist would love to encounter. Service provided by Josefa, the cook, Otelia, the housekeeper, and Jose the groundskeeper, were outstanding. We are coming back next year, and probably sooner.

We built the home for our family's enjoyment and to invite friends. Our kids are gone to college and we decided to begin renting it. My family holds very strong memories and it was great bonding experience with the kids.

Pourquoi avoir choisi cet hébergement ?

We purchased the land in this beach because it was the closest beach to Managua, secluded and private yet close to a small town where we could do basic grocery and fish shopping. It is so close we often just go to have lunch, swim and return in time for supper.

Quels sont les atouts de cet hébergement ?

The home is made with many local materials, the baseboard has shells built into it. Instead of pavement, we used crushed shells on the parking lot. Every detail of the house was meticolously designed. Very tall ceilings to give the open feeling in bedrooms and all social areas are open with ocean view. Lots of social areas to keep kids playing in the living room, teens in balcony, adults in a terrace and others in a hammock.
